I think the people pointing out her weight are commenting on her boyfriend's tweet which states that she is not fat. If he had simply commented "I love you just the way you are" I think you would see less comments targeting her body. Guys can be like that. They look at the facts and not the emotional message. That's why we are normally not that good when it comes to emotional intelligence. And when one person talks on the emotional level, and the other person on the factual level, this can get ugly very fast. Because both sides think they are right (and both might be right) and get more and more upset while trying to bring their point across / defending their position. So, if we seem dumb, sometimes we're just focusing on a different aspect. A lot of other times, we simply are dumb.

Ugly is a matter of opinion and cannot be quantified. So there is no comparison. However if she was tall and it was mentioned, that is just a statement of fact. Fat is a matter of fact and is not an insult, is not being rude, it is just a factual description. Beautiful is judgemental and to some she may be , but fat she certainly is.

That's a really nice sentiment, but the reality is that she is, indeed, "fat". The issue I have with this is that the underlining assumption is that you can't be overweight and pretty/beautiful - that "fat" automatically means you're ugly. So, essentially, she /is/ saying "wow he loves you even though you're ugly."

Being fat makes her unhealthy. We associate beauty with a healthy look, so "you're fat" and "you're ugly" are basically the same thing.

Its not about huh a perfect body though, its about being in shape and living a long happy life. You cant live a long life if you are obese, you are going to have numerous health issues later in life if not as a young adult. I mean hey if its your choice go for it, but as a dude who sat on his butt and didnt do anything all day after work take it from me, after a few weeks of working out it really sucks missing that work out. I have more energy, I can sleep and fall asleep so much better and faster and I finally have confidence to walk up and talk to pretty girls I see out and about, something I never did a year ago.

The fat was used as an insult not a description in that tweet. It was used hatefully to make some sad person feel better about their lives because a woman they thought lesser than them had a rocking dress, a loving boyfriend and was going to a Prom. It was used in a nasty hurtful way not a statement of "fact". Just because something is true doesn't mean it's OK to say it.

No point in ever saying it. We know our own faults, don't need them pointing out.

So if she was a size zero - one of those lollipop girls with big heads and tiny bodies would it have been ok to say 'wow he loves you even though you're a skinny?' No of course not but apparently being overweigt means people are entitled to insult you. They are just happy and in love teenagers , she doesn't even know them so she should just leave them alone. '21 cabbage' may have a pretty face but she's bitter and really ugly inside and that's a fact too

I think people handle their problems with their bodies differently during their life. If I got it right, this was a prom pic. When you are in that age, it is not to be expected to be able to handle being fat and called fat. I agree with you, denying makes no good. But maybe, in this case it was the nice thing to say she is not. Especially, as in this context fat is really not to describe her weight, but to shame.

Unfortunately girls that are a size one also say they are fat. Doesn't mean that they are. You have allowed society to make you think you are "fat" the main thing is are you healthy? Your dress size doesn't matter. Man can put any number on that tag. Learn to love yourself. And she is not fat.

Not everybody deserves to be loved. But this has no linked with their weight, it's more a personality thing.

her weight shouldn't even be entering the conversation. It's irrelevant. it's like me making a huge s**t-fest over the fact that you're dark haired. it has nothing to do with nothing. One of the posters insinuated that if a person weighs more than what society deems as acceptable, they aren't deserving of love. You're right. Fat, large, full figured, whatever one wants to call it, should not ever be a whispered word. Like I said, it isn't significant and should not factor into how to treat a person.

Thats like saying smoking tobacco isnt a bad thing. Of course its a bad thing, it will cause health issues for you later in life just like obesity. If you want to smoke or not take care of yourself go ahead but lets me honest, being fat is unhealthy just like smoking tobacco is while smoking is obviously worse for you being obese will bring you many health issues/problems later in your life.

Because its a very small percentage of those who are obese are that way because of genetics or anything else out of their control. The vast majority of obese folks are obese because they eat like c**p and dont exercise so its an easy assumption to make. That being said, it is your life live it how you want but myself having health issues as a man in my 30s from being obese just isnt that appealing to me. I love to mountain bike, thats not something you can do as a bigger person or at least not well.
