Girl Starts To Look Like An Alien Due To Swelling Head, Does Nothing Until Her Eyes Almost Swell Shut
Angioedema is a form of severe swelling beneath the skin’s surface, one that may be accompanied by hives and itching. Although angioedema can be dangerous when the swelling is severe and occurs near the throat, the condition is usually harmless and it will disappear on its own within a few days. It’s caused by an allergic reaction to something like food or medication, or, in this tragically hilarious case, grass and wheat.
Poor Caitlyn was at Kendall Calling, a popular music festival in England’s spectacular Lake District. She was sharing a tent with some friends, enjoying the laughs and good times when her allergies began to kick in and her swollen face began reaching epic proportions. Luckily, her buddies were there to document the whole process – from hammerhead shark to elephant man.
The story – told in a gloriously descriptive Twitter thread by Caitlyn’s friend Rhiannon – has since gone viral with people loving that very British manner of cheekily ‘taking the piss’ among a group of close mates. Because yeah, she’s got a big head with eyes swollen shut. Her wheat allergy is no threat, it looks funny as hell and she’s got a good sense of humor about it. What else is there to do but laugh?

Share on FacebookThis is really irresponsible and inconsiderate of her friends, they'd rather party on than go to A&E immediately (considering the severity of this allergic reactions, she was not far from septic shock - a life-threatening immune overreaction). Hope she found better friends in the meantime.
You probably meant anaphylactic shock, not septic.
Load More Replies...My husband has idiopathic angioedema so no known source for any time he 'swells up'. If she knew what she was dealing with the only thing she could have done is left before the swelling continued to progress - it wasn't going to go down while she was still exposed to the allergen. If she thought it was she clearly isn't up to speed with how this works, nurse or not. It could have worsened to the point where it affected her tongue/throat and subsequently her breathing. Antihistamines don't miraculously sort out angioedema when it's reached this stage. It doesn't affect the brain btw.
