Until people stop being childish and admit what the actual problems are, none of this will change. There is no such thing as "knife violence" or "gun violence" or "car violence". There are only violent human beings. You'll never get anywhere with combatting violence if you cannot even call it what it is - violent human beings.

As a lover of knives, I find this beautiful.

I support him, but putting it on trafalgar square is pretty bad, it's filled with knifes and pointy ends; people will gett hurt on it. his art work is amazing but people are idiots and will hurt themselves on it.

A waste of some fine blades

Beautiful sculpture, although I wonder where the concern over knife violence will lead. Will people in the UK have to eat nothing but pre-prepared food with sporks soon? (You know, if knife control measures are passed.)

I want it to hug me

Take away the guns, then they just use a knife. So take away the knives they will just use clubs, so take them away they will just use rocks. Then what will you do? ANYTHING can be turned into a weapon so taking away everything that can be used as a weapon isn't going to stop people from hurting and killing each other. It's just human nature that some of us have all the violence in them that's missing from others. There's always going to be bad people that enjoy being bad and hurting others and destroying things. Just like there's always going to be good people and people that like to create things. We need to figure out what to do with the undesirable people or just face the fact that there's always going to be violence because violent people thrive on it and live for violence.

This is a splendid piece of art that makes a poignant statement. Just as we are dealing with a debate here in the US about gun crimes, it is important and valiant that the artist attempted to make a valid point with his work. It's a shame that it's being ignored by the British gov't for fear of "looking bad." This is incredible and it has a powerful message. I wish people would accept this as it is and realize people need help. It's hard enough to talk about but spending two years on a sculpture? THAT deserves credit. I wish the government would hurry up and accept this as it is.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think this project is less to take away knives = problems solved! I think it's more of a memorial or statement

Oddly no one mentions that as dangerous as this is if handled wrong, it would be exponentially more dangerous if made out of operational and loaded guns....

Total number of homicides, murders, violent crimes = interesting, important to lower. Total number of "gun crimes" or "knife crimes" = nonsense, good for taking attention away from serious issues.

I'm just not sure that a sculpture can or would make a difference. the kind of people who take a knife along to terrorise, injure, kill or 'for protection' are not going to see this as having any relevance to them. It's just a piece of art for those who like art to look at for a few moments, say 'how sad, how meaningful' and then walk on by.

How sad that a nation that has unarmed police thinks it can magically stop attacks by passing laws against instruments. Your enforcers are sitting ducks, ready to be sacrificed to political correctness.

I completely agree with his message, but I don't think that the sculpture should be put out. It would give anyone free access to a dangerous weapon, quite a few people could be pushed into the sculpture or cut themselves... too many risks.

Wonderful sculpture. Really interesting idea to begin with and it's great that he's raising awareness about the subject. Knife violence is all too common. The government is only making itself look worse by rejecting this artwork.

As if that stops production and use of new, sharp, lethal knives! What next? A sculpture made of guns, empty cartridges, deactivated bombs, decommissioned artillery ? Is that the answer to terrorism. Dumb idea.
