People want them because "big dog = more joy" but they underestimate the cost of food and training and hell, eventually cremation for these guys. (I only bring up cremation because I just lost my 16lb cat and it was $10\lb to cremate him, so if you apply that to a 150-200lb dog ...) My point is, understand the needs of the breed you're getting. If you adopt a mystery dog and it surprises you, thats one thing. But do your research before investing in a huge breed dog

In our school, there is a MASSIVE therapy dog. I think it's a leonberger, and omg he's gigantic. There's enough space for like ten middle schoolers to pet him comfortably.

And many of those big dogs are bred to guard livestock. They live to guard. If you don't have livestock and can't give them the life they are bred for, please choose a different breed. It's like having a greyhound without room to run. Greyhounds are sight hounds. You can't punish him for doing what he's born to do.
