Getting gifts is awesome.

As a kid, or as an adult, doesn’t matter, you get a gift and it makes you feel good and it gives you stuff to do with that gift afterwards.

But—there’s a huge but—for some reason, people adjust to your age when it comes to getting you a gift. And while you can’t blame them for wanting to get you the perfect gift appropriate to who you are as a person, some people don’t grow out of LEGOs and art supplies. In fact, there is nothing to grow out of, those are legit timeless gifts. Gifts that we still want.

The lovely people of Reddit have been sharing the gifts they wish they would still get, even as adults, but most deem gifts for children. And, believe you me, them sharing gift ideas will quite likely make you want them too.

Bored Panda has collected the best answers from the now-viral post, which accumulated over 54,200 upvotes and over 100 Reddit awards, and created a curated list below. So vote and comment on the gifts you’d love to get yourself, and if you can’t find them in the list, why not leave us a comment with what you wish you still got for [insert occasion here] in the comment section below!

Person Asks “What’s Something You'd Love Getting As A Gift But No One Considers Giving You Because You're An Adult?”, 30 Folks Deliver I got a call from a friend, she said it's a birthday and we should all come over. I got the date/time and event correct, but not whose birthday it was, although I was confident it was for a kid. Why else would she say, bring the whole family? We show up and I'm frankly concerned by all the craft beer with bows and balloons on it. I set our gift bag down and we join the party. Shortly after, her husband shouts with joy and wants to know who got him the big Lego set. Well, that was me, and, uh.... You're welcome. So, my answer is Legos. Adults want Legos.

I’m 45 and I absolutely love Lego. As a kid I desperately wanted the airport set but my parents couldn’t afford it. Now I get Lego every birthday and Christmas (and buy it myself sometimes). Side note…I own three different Lego airports so the transport links for my mini figs are good! :)

I actually would rather people not buy me gifts, because 9/10 it's something I don't need, don't want, and will just take up closet space in my tiny apartment. Every gift I've been given in the last decade was something completely not my style. I don't drink wine, EVER, got an electric wine opener for Christmas. Gifts just remind me of how little anyone knows me or pays attention.

I also LOVE stickers. If you want a place to put them as an adult, buy the biggest frame you can... a cheap Walmart one with plastic and not glass is perfectly okay. Stick them all on that. Gives you a place to put them and you can hang it wherever you'd like. When it's full you can get another. It's a great use for the stickers, a way to keep the memories, a creative conversation piece AND it's very easy to take with you wherever you might move. Mine are in the guest bathroom. I'm looking forward to hanging them at the nursing home I'm realistically going to end up in.

I figured this out after years of keeping them with nowhere to put them. I also do the same with concert tickets, theater programs, movie stubs for movies I particularly enjoyed and such. I'm in my early 40s now and they've become a neat way to use them instead of putting them in a scrapbook that almost no one would see otherwise.

When you say "easter egg", do you mean a hard boiled egg dyed with coloring? Or a candy egg?

My grams was on a roller derby team. I found out by accident by going to a derby with a bunch of coworkers. I stood up and yelled, OMG, its my grams!!! She heard me, looked up, saw me, and she was thrown to the ground. My dad hosted dinner and she came in limping a bit. She gave me death glares not to say anything. She was in her 50's.

Roller skates are awesome! I had a pair when I was a kid and used them all the time. I got hurt a lot as well, but that's part of learning. I should dug them up someday and check if I can still wear it (doubtful, but my feet were always on the small side).

Honestly, if you're an adult who wants plushies or other toys... why not? So long as you don't let it get out of control, go for it. Buy that T-Rex action figure you always wanted as a child. Buy the teddy bear filling you full of warm, fuzzy feelings. There's no rule saying you can't. Anyone who doesn't like it is free to live their lives without the simple joy that a toy can bring (yes, I have a fair few of my own. Don't care what anyone else thinks, they make me happy).

Glow in the dark and light-up stuff is awesome. I got a pair of spherical earrings that have little fluffy clouds in them. I'd never have the occasion to wear them and the metal hooks almost certainly have nickel in them (which I'm allergic to), so I hung them up beside my bed on a little metal drawer set, just to enjoy looking at them. Imagine my delight when I found out they glow in the dark too! Wasn't mentioned in the listing, but totally welcome.

I was in the Navy, years ago now, the ship in the yard for refit, and had to confiscate a really neat super soaker gun. 25 30 foot range. Idea was he'd get it back when he could take it right off the ship. Well we started security drills as we began to get operational again. I got guys permission to use it for that, and boy was it embarrassing for these young guys to get it right in the chest or leg. Everyone knew they hadn't been careful. I almost went out and bought one after that.

When I was 6 or 7 my parents made me give away one of my teddy bears (loved it) to my cousin, because I gave some other bear (didn't like that one) to my other cousin. I've never forgiven them for it. I still remember how the teddy bear looked like.

I joined the Navy at 20, night before I left I got my gf at the time a stuffed giraffe in a sailor uniform from build-a-bear, because giraffes are her favorite animal and she could snuggle with that little sailor while I was in bootcamp. That relationship didn't work out, but we're still in touch and she said it ended up becoming her daughters favorite stuffed toy, so I thought that was cute

Every year on my daughters birthday we have a birthday princess tea party w her childhood toy tea set. We started when she was one. She's 19 now and we still do it every year early in the morning on her bday. I decorate the table w balloons and decorations, wrap her presents, and make a small cake that looks like a Barbie in a dress. It's like a small surprise. She loves it and it's just her and I. I hope to always do this w her no matter how old she gets.

It really depends on the ride. I waited in line for two hours to ride Tower of Terror a ride I was terrified of because I have a phobia of elevators. However, I faced my fears, rode it, and absolutely loved it. One of the rides I didn't mind waiting hours for, and was totally worth it. If the line hadn't been long, I know I would have backed out, so the long line actually helped to ease my mind.

At Disney World, you can pay to park, then ride the monorail for free all day, can stop at the resorts along the way (The Grand Floridian is amazing!) Way more fun than actually riding the lame rides in the theme park.

I went to Disney/universal with my partner right before my kids came into existence. We hired a muscle car and went wild. I was late 20s and it was a once in a lifetime opportunity. I still dream about that trip, so much fun all the kid stuff with the added bonus of beer. I found out I was pregnant the day after we got back.
