When I was 5 or 6 I asked for a LEGO set for Christmas. I did not get that- I got a weird girl version where all the blocks were pink and white, and it only had selection enough to make one little house- because it came with big flat pieces for the roof and the lawn, as well as a swing that took up a sizable portion of the base piece. It had fewer pieces and cost more than most LEGO sets. I was briefly excited because I got blocks- but very disappointed when I found how few options there were. My parents did eventually get us an actual good LEGO set at least, but... it still makes me sad that people thought that's what I should have just because I'm a girl.

Went to work with my mom who was a nurses aide and rode on my dad's bull dozer, going through brush to make a road. 1960's. Dad was born in 1910, but he had pretty progressive thinking. Also taught my to do maintenance on my car, you going to drive learn to change a tire. Blanket statements about how things used to be irritate me. Not everyone was the same. I know we were not unique.

I don't think primitive is the right word. It's really nice to see someone who has doubts but is still open-minded and willing to consider new ideas. Our culture is moving pretty fast so this stuff is hard to get used to if you don't know people you can talk to about it. :)

I understand that it might be hard to accept things that are new and different and I certainly applaud you for trying to be more open minded. I know lots of people who could learn from that example.

You are confusing sex with gender. Gender is the outward expression of personality and not just the expression of underlying physical traits. That somehow adults wouldn't be able to figure out how to reproduce based on not having easily identifiable clothing for parts is a bit ridiculous and degrades human attraction to sex parts are the only thing that matters in an adult sexual relationship. How do people who have fertility issues handle reproduction - seek medical assistance, adopt, etc. There is no lack of population growth or looming extinction of humanity that this even is an issue to worry about.
