Americans Share Brutally Honest Descriptions Of The States They Live In, And The Result Is Hilarious
The 50 states of the U.S.A can often get Europeans confused. Is there really that much difference between Mississippi and Alabama? Washington and Oregon? To outsiders not so much, but of course locals will definitely let you know! To get more clarification on how to distinguish between them, one Redditor asked Americans what are the things everyone should know about each state. It's hard to say if this person got what they were asking for, but the result is definitely amusing.
While some users offered tactful descriptions about unique nature of their states and shared important historical facts, others were a lot more candid. Americans dispelled absurd myths, showed what makes them proud and didn't hesitate to point fingers at their own flaws with hilarious examples. Proving once again that they know how to laugh at themselves. Scroll down to see for yourself!

I was really hoping for something much better for my home state. They could have went all out lol
My grandma was originally from Detroit and she calls it soda pop lol
Load More Replies...ITS POP BECAUSE IT POPS IN YOUR MOUTH IT DOESNT "SODA" IN YOUR MOUTH
I just happened to be looking around on the Japanese Coca Cola website and found this map of the soda/pop/coke divide. I'm a pop person myself. soda-or-po...a8dbf0.png
This could be Minnesota as well. Along with several other midwestern states.
Minnesota agrees (Pop because that is what happens when you leave a soda in the car during winter, it goes pop)
MICHIGAN : WE HAVE REAL WEATHER HERE, AND LIKE TO MESS YOUR DRINK ORDERS UP WITH SODA>POP
I was born is Arizona and moved to Michigan, so I call it soda. It's a good conversation starter XD
Thats ok. Im minnesotan and for 3 yrs my family lived in texas and everyone made fun of how I said certain words XD
Load More Replies...Okay I'm from Michigan and I call it SODA (fight me), and something should be said about Michigan & State because that's a HUGE thing. (Which I happen to not care about in the slightest).
Oh and Vernon's (ginger ale for all you non-Michiganders out there) that's a big thing
Load More Replies...It is up north too, but we still use it for soda too
Load More Replies...I call them all coke weather it's actually a coke cola or Pepsi, Sprite, Dr Pepper, or anything carbonated.
I am a Michigander and here are a few more to add... it's a couch not a sofa, we use our right hand as a map of the lower peninsula, distance is measured in the amount of time it takes to go anywhere, and we have a lot of fresh water (though Flint forgot they need to keep their pipes in good maintenance if they want to keep the populous healthy).
The real description: Philadelphia on the east, Pittsburgh on the wet, Alabama in the middle.
I used to live in Nebraska, and I loved it! Down to earth, kind people.
'We have waffle house' does not accurately describe the waffle house situation down there.
I'm only an a*****e when it's warranted. Like when tourists visit and ask where top go to look at leaves. Right out your hotel window Sharon
Yellowstone super-volcano should worry more than just people in Wyoming - If it ever does erupt.
I think you need to have lived in the states. Makes no sense to me - at aaaaalllll. Me - European
Yea, if you've never visited the state it's not all that funny... Also some of them made not sense to me and I've lived in that state.
Load More Replies...This was a great idea and I am so glad you posted it. What a hoot to listen to what people had to say about their "homeland." I loved it. Thanks :) :)
Having lived or vacationed in 27 of the states, this seems pretty accurate. :) This amazing country has so much diversity, I don't understand why more Americans don't visit more of their own country.
That’s because the US is too damn big and we don’t have enough vacation time to visit many places. Most people that travel the states are older retired folks.
Load More Replies...I wonder if we could describe English counties that way - Am Cumbrian and Cumbria didnt even exist til 1974 - actually iI'm a Lancastrian
for some reason they combined 3 historic counties - Cumberland, Westmoreland and Northumberland - stole a bit of Lancashire and renamed us Cumbria
Load More Replies...People in Hawaii would be eating Spam like their cousins if it weren't for the haoles making you a place in our wonderful country.
I've not been to most of the states, so I can't say much for them, but WOW, the U.S. has tacky f*****g flags.
