Bored Panda reached out to Glenn Jones, an artist and a t-shirt designer, for a deep dive into his world of witty and thoughtful illustrations that end up on a piece of clothing later on.
When asked about the origin of his unique concepts, Glenn Jones explained to Bored Panda, "I like to take pop culture or easily recognizable stuff people interact with every day and try to put a unique twist on it or add some humor, or at least something that I find funny."
In response to how his style has evolved over two decades of designing t-shirts, he shared, "I’ve always tried to keep stuff simple and clean, so generally my style has stayed the same. It’s probably become more refined, plus Adobe Illustrator has added so many tools that help create over the years so utilizing those has helped the end result too."
On finding inspiration in the mundane and translating this into his illustrations, Glenn stated, "I think that’s the challenge that I enjoy, taking something that people know and presenting it in a different way."
When reflecting on how t-shirt designing as a hobby transformed his career, Glenn revealed, "Yes, it took my career down a totally different path. It created a new business for me and also gave me exposure which led to opportunities to work with great people and brands. I think now more than ever, social media allows anyone to showcase their talent to the world. It’s all about just constantly creating. You never know who’s going to see it."
I'm Christian and I believe in religion but I don't wanna start an argument. just to let you know that don't be so mean thank you in the future.
Load More Replies...One of the weirdest concepts of Christianity that led me to question it very early in my life
Sorry that you feel that way. If it helps, the fact that Jesus died for everyone doesn’t make people stop sinning, that’s impossible until they get to heaven because humans are inherently sinful. What happens is when a Christian stands before God on judgement day, that’s when Jesus’ actions cover for us. You might ask, why wouldn’t God let you into heaven? That’s terrible, right? Only by human standards. God has perfect justice, and letting a sinner into heaven would not be just at all. What all sinners deserve in a perfectly just world is to go to hell, but Jesus pays the price for all our sins by suffering for us even though he never did a single thing wrong. You might not read this whole thing, but if you do, thanks. You can easily find out more if you wish to do so ❤️ EDIT: grammar/mistakes
Load More Replies...As an agnostic that was educated in a Christian school it's obvious, to me, the person that designed this t-shirt hasn't bothered to educate themselves. Jesus died for your sins and created a new covenant in lieu of the one made with Moses and the Israelites. It was pre-emptive and the intent was to grant salvation without having to perform the rites and sacrifices that were previously instituted.
Thing is, we're all sinners. It's accepting him and that he died for our sins that saves us from the consequence of the sin and that is eternal death.
Speaking Only for myself, my sins are so predictable that, yes, someone even 2000 years ago could have seen them coming.
Gonna be honest, this is funny. Totally no understanding of what Christianity really teaches...but still funny.
Some people are being super disrespectful right now. Religion isn't the enemy here, it's the people that keep insulting others because of their beliefs, whether you're religious or not.
Exactly! I’m not religious but I’m 100% fine with whatever people chose to believe in. It’s only a problem when people use religion as an excuse to be a terrible human being.
Load More Replies...Precisely! The biggest corporate lie in history is the one about the existence of a god that is constantly pedalled by every religion out there.
I've found no evidence of God, but I haven't stopped looking either.
Load More Replies...The person who made this shirt clearly has no clue about whatever their talking about. Can we please be more respectful towards other people's religions? It's really okay if you don't agree or believe in said religion but RESPECT PLEASE. Why BP even allowed this to be uploaded is beyond me.
It’s interesting that some comments in this thread say Christians aren’t persecuted, yet any comment here (and most everywhere else), that support Christian beliefs is downvoted, replied to rudely, or disliked. If Christians aren’t persecuted, then there would either be no disparaging reply nor downvotes. Or is “persecution” just considered forms of torture? Persecution takes on all forms and can be from just mere rudeness, to being put to death. Why do liberals want support, tolerance, understanding and respect but refuse to do the same for those with opposing views? Or is it “do as I say, not as I do”? Why can’t we just agree to disagree and leave it at that?
I have made the same observation. Completely peaceful and civil comments are hidden if they are not 100% supportive of a particular narrative. I have also seen vile comments that are aggressive against any position that is not as far left as the poster stay up for days before being hidden by moderators - one literally saying ‘conservatives cant die off fast enough’. This world needs Jesus, but there is an obvious work at play trying to silence the voice and hide the light.
Load More Replies...There even was a religious (more like gnostic) movement, the "Antinomianists", who taught that believers are exempt from moral laws and norms and that sin is necessary to experience God's grace and forgiveness.
This makes me sad because the person who made this shirt doesn't even understand the basics of Christianity.
Tee shirt messages and bumper stickers. Both say so little but attract entice so much wrath.
Jesus didn't really die if he came back to life 3 days later. His death would be special only if it was permanent.
Load More Replies...Good point, evidently, the slate was wiped clean? THEN...NOW we started anew with sinning and destruction.
Best shirt ever. He is also not a zombie coming back from the dead!!!!!
Lastly, on the specifics of what he considers when creating illustrations for t-shirts, Jones emphasized to us that, "Simplicity for my work is key, and colors, but for me, I try to convey my idea in a clean, visually understandable way."
It's like I'm respecting every single woman in this planet, except my wife...
Dramaturgically: (adverb) in a way that relates to the art or the theory of writing and putting on plays, especially for the theater
One of my favorite t-shirts spotted in the wild said "Of course I'm pro gay, I didn't practice this hard to be amateur gay"
I wonder who keeps voting down peoples' expressions of likes or dislikes? I mean that's idiotic, it's just their likes/dislikes, they aren't even saying anything controversial.
But that's the BP way. Heaven forbid you express an opinion that in the slightest way varies from the prevailing point of view, which changes for every post. They'll just downvote you into oblivion. That's usually how you know you're right, by how many downvotes you get. Let's see how many I rack up for this one.
