they don't visit earth because there's nothing here - eg if spaceydudes be say 5 million light years away and look at us they'd see a nearly ice age, I think, and we'd be monkey dudes not yet even using tools
How it feels when people who only speak English complain about how hard it is to pronounce, say, Irish names or so.
I drunk texted my Kung Fu instructor to ask how Chinese dictionary is organised. Had to do extra pushups.
RIght now, somewhere in the US, an illiterate guy is attacking his freezer with an icepick.
A once beloved author now trying her best to ruin her legacy.
I'm in IT. So many people just add a digit at the end. We've now made it so you can't do that. The last password I saw was Welcome12345678!!!!!!!!! Oh my God
It's ten but it's also not well written. Anyone not trying to confuse people would use brackets to make it clearer.
Load More Replies...I would love to know what mental acrobatics one would have to do to get an odd number
Please Excuse My Dear Aunt Sally. I think parenthesis always make thing clearer because they are always first.
What's often forgotten is that the right answer WASN'T ON THE LIST. People HAD to settle for a wrong answer. Given that, 16 is perfectly reasonable - you assume they forgot the brackets. Yes, the right answer is 10, but what bothers me more is how 26% got 13!
16. The rule is that you add and subtract before you multiply, so 2+2=4, 4x4=16
Ok, I can understand how the 16 people got there, but how do you get 13‽ That's a prime number!!!
PEMDAS - basic fifth grade skills (around 9-10 years old) aka order of operations
If written without parenthesis, the rule of algebra is to solve the multiplication then add. So, 2+(2X4) = 10
This is the first time I've seen a comment section unanimous on one of these things! 😅
Those of you saying 10 were taught a different system to the rest of us. In old school mathematics a problem is worked out linearly, so 2+2×4 would be calculated 2+2=4. 4×4=16. If the required answer is 10 then it would be written as either 2+(2×4) or 2×4+2.
Wrong. Multiplication always goes before addition, dating back to ancient mathematics. It has never been linear
Load More Replies...Order of operations (PEMDAS, or the other version). 4x2=8, 8+2=10
Load More Replies...It's 10 because of order of operations. You do 2x4 First to get 8, and then add the 2 to get 10
Load More Replies...I used to play rock band/guitar hero with my daughter when she was like 3. She... wasn't actually playing.
And that's why I don't bother to decipher emojis. Seriously. I could read the Compleat [sic] Works of Shakespeare in the original Klingon faster.
