My name is Lonnie Easterling, and I've been drawing “Spud Comics” for almost nine years. They're funny comic strips that I write, draw, ink, and color. You can find over 1100 on my website.
Spud Comics have nothing to do with potatoes (although I've drawn some potato comics here and there). My grandfather's nickname for me was "Spud", so I thought I'd use that to name the funny comic strip ideas I'd draw on paper.

A Short History of Comic Strips
Let’s begin our short historical exploration of funny strips by acknowledging ourselves with the term. A comic strip is a series of drawings arranged horizontally and vertically and meant to be read as a narrative or a chronological sequence. The drawings can (and usually are) be supplemented with captions or speech balloons to make it a bit spicier. So, a short story in a couple of drawings.
Now, onto the history of these popular strips. While one might think that the Egyptians started the trend of comic strips, this form of art actually came a bit later in our history, with the first examples dating back to Medieval times in Europe. It might amuse you to learn that the first
comic ideas were actually woven into tapestries! Usually, they depicted the deeds of noble knights and weren’t all that hilarious.
The first printed comic strips came into existence in the mid-18th century in England. There were a couple of prominent caricaturists at that time, and this is when funny clean comic strips woven into tapestries became a bit more raunchy and political, especially so when they wriggled their way into the newspapers, where they were usually used as a part of a satirical social commentary.
Nowadays, comic strips can span various topics—from comics on Baby Shark for kids to funny comic strips for adults; it is still a much-loved form of art.

Hey, I was making jokes about that few years ago! But man, you are much better in drawing.
I thought you need teeth to chew gum... oh, nvm, I guess they're some kind of baby sharks or piranha dressed as grumpy gold fish

Very funny stuff . I liked "hole foods " best. I made that same joke and my kids booed at me. Well done !
Wow! Some of these will be excellent for my second grade students to write about, thank you! If they write anything funny, I intend to come back and share some of their responses here.
Lonnie, I love your sock buddy system cartoon. I wanted to put it on a communication to a group of teachers, but wanted to be sure you would allow this. I have included your website and name.
Have you checked the gutter for your sense of humor?
