The myth of Man Flu. We have all experienced the phenomena of a man getting sick with some measly cold, little indigestion or a headache and exaggerating the symptoms so much, that we start to worry if they are on their death bed. Though men really do like being taken care of (hence lying in bed for a week in a recovery of the common cold), it has recently been scientifically proven, that some diseases do get men sicker than women. It all just has to do with women having superior immune systems that are not so easily affected by viruses. Now, we don't want to ruin the fun of mocking the ever-so-strong male getting bed-bound by a runny nose, so we've compiled the absolute best of the manfluenza cases below.
And while boyfriends and husbands might say that they are suffering the pains of childbirth times ten when having a man cold, their partners tend to look and their cries for help in a rather unsympathetic way. Probably because us ladies, when hit by flu, still manage to go to work, take care of the children and the 'dying' husbands. Actually, their whining gives us a good chance for a funny meme or two.
Below you'll find a list of the best bed-bound husband memes, slowly dying and greatly suffering boyfriend memes and men memes of heroes who have survived the manfluenza.

The poor man is evading the Grim Reaper here, and all you, his adoring wife, can do is makes jokes at his expense. My heart goes out to a fallen brother... :(
when I was in labour my husband got a headache so I had to text my family, in between contractions, to bring him some pain meds because "he couldn't take it anymore"
Is that like the "most beautiful chocolate cake you've ever seen?"
I once was recovering from an open (bones sticking out) compound (more than one) , surgically repaired (second of six) ankle break that had required a bone transplant to repair. I was under Dr. Orders to only use my crutches to get to the bathroom and away from fire or flood. My fella had a upset tummy, (heartburn) and asked " could you please go to the refrigerator and get me a gingerale?" I looked at him, waiting for it to sink in, and after a minute, I bopped him on the head with my crutch.
If you only *think* he has a cold y'all better stand down. You'll KNOW when it's the real thing!
my husband never shows that he is sick. I had to force him to go to hospital when he had a mild heart attack. im the total opposite.. hmmm... maybe he pamper me too much..
Bruh I’ll have a 102 degree fever and my guy friends expect me to bring stuff to the party still and make lasagna. Nah bro have your friend with the slight cloud who is claiming to die do it
My guy friend: sneezes Guy friend: I think I’m dying Me: is bleeding out of my pants Me: omg I feel so sorry lemme make u a care package bro I’ll make you as much chili as u want
The first husband that dies from a cold? All the wives near by, will bury him quietly, so the world never Knows!
OK, I read all of these, but I just don't get it! My mother died when I was 5 YO, and I was single for 20+ years ... never had any of these "man problems". PS, my wife and I are deeply in love!!!
I think it has something to do with being around a woman. You ever see those action movies, the hero jumps through fire, gets shot, survives from an explosion, and then the girl patches him up an he goes " ow ow ow"
BINGO! Women are the 'Care Givers', and when there is one around, men automatically look for some care. If you weren't around, we'd just have to do without. You're a wise lady June. :D

It is a good point and it all makes sense, but it's still not okay that a woman is expected to work sick during her man being healthy, but when the opposite situation happens, he's bed ridden and she still has to work. I mean, sure not all couples are like this, but that's what I see in these posts in this article.

Just recently we've been told not to brush off "man flu" as it might legitimately be a medical emergency.
Those are terrible things, and why we in the US have an advertising campaign going every fall to remind us to get our flu shots. A few years back when the H1N1 flu first hit, I had two friends lose their husbands.

HER: "Oh, my temperature is normal" ME: "Then you don't have a fever." HER: "But it FEELS like I have a fever!" It turned out, the hand was broken too.
When I get a cold I always say I'm man sick. I assume I'm dying and belly ache. At least I admit it, right?
We both had the norovirus. I got it two weeks before him. He's like "you can't make my dinner?" when I had it. When he had it (and I had a relapse) he was like "OMG I am going to die I had no idea it was this painful I am so sorry x 200)". I've known him since 1988 - this is the fourth time he's been sick. And yes it was THAT bad - like a stomach cramp that encompassed your whole body.
To be fair, I'm a woman and feel like I'm dying when I've got a cold.. There's no way I'm going to work, let alone a night out
First of all, I think women are just having fun with this, and that's ok. That said, I think men are encouraged by society to act invincible and not show vulnerability. Many men grew up with the pressure that it isn't ok to cry. Men generalkt feign strength and confidence because that is what they are expected to do. Suddenly we see a man (husband/father) who is ill, and quite understandly not pretending to be invincible, and it doesn't fit the picture that they try to project on a daily basis. I have had man colds, but my wife and previously girlfriends have really milked it when they are ill, so I don't buy this idea that women somehow muscle through more than men do. People get sick, we just aren't used to seeing men act vulnerable. And who doesn't want to be comforted when they are sick?
Yep. In our house, if I'm sick (anything short of vomiting) I still do all the tasks I do normally, up at the usual time, make breakfast, school lunch, get my kid to school, laundry, cooking etc. If my husband has anything more than a mild cold he takes the day off work and stays in bed. He has the advantage that if he takes a day off from his work, it won't make much difference, but if I stopped doing my jobs at home, my child wouldn't eat.
We indians are very different, guess men are still men here. I know of so many men in my own circle who'd even smile on death bed and say everything is all right.
"But a new study suggests that men may actually suffer more when they are struck down with flu - because high levels of testosterone can weaken their immune response. Men with lower testosterone levels also had a better immune response, more or less equivalent to that of women." So you say you do not surfer that much when having flu?

The weird thing is that so many men make a huge fuss about a cold, but actually don't go to the doctor when they really should. They usually don't go to precautionary exams either. And then - on average - they die much earlier than the average woman.
I do the grocery shopping, the cooking, I take out the trash and I wash and put away my own clothes. I'm also a ham radio operator and provided national and regional communications during hurricane Irma. I also pay all the bills, keep all house related activities on my computer and keep all of them updated and secure. When I get sick, my wife wears dirty clothes to McDonald's to keep from starving to death. I also clean up my own dribble and put the seat down with being asked. When my wife runs out of toilet paper she smells bad until she takes a shower. That is if she can find the soap because I take care of that too.
Here's the, now scientifically confirmed, lowdown on 'man flu'... Androgens compromise (significantly reduce) the T-cell group of white blood cells. It takes males about twice as long as females to BEGIN fighting off viruses and bacteria (meaning, they get a firmer foothold); and when the immune system FINALLY cottons on, late to the party, it overreacts, worsening the symptoms of the illness (because it is the immune response to illness that induces symptoms in the first place. The stronger it reacts, the worse the symptoms get). It's really not a joke. You women actually DO have a much easier time of it when ill than we men do. Be nice to us, we can't help it.
I don't get it. If I catch a cold, okay, drink lots of warm water, rest, no big deal. Same for all my male friends. Is this a modern American thing?

Guess it depends on the man. My dad never stays home from work even when he gets sick. When he is sick you can't even really tell because he doesn't complain. My boyfriend is the same, he doesn't complain when he's sick. He just lets me know that he is sick so I'm not confused as to why he's being a bit different. First my husband is rarely sick. Second when he is he soldiers in like a man and never complains.
As a kid, I dreaded staying home sick while Dad was in charge. Mom was all "take your meds, eat your soup, take a nap, I'll check in a few hours." Dad was checking on me CONSTANTLY. Offering food I couldn't stomach, meds I didn't need, tv I didn't want. "What can I do for you, sweetheart?" How about leave me alone, don't talk to me for 3 hours?!
It's actually been scientifically proven that men get more severe strains of things like a cold and the flu than women.
Remember, these sorts of generalizations or light hearted humor at women's expense are sexist, misogynistic, and only horrible people find them acceptable. Men may not handle a cold well, but at least we can take a joke.
Can we? Everyone in this comment section that's pissed off is a man. Is it so f*****g hard to laugh at something as light hearted as being wimpy while sick?

Nope, not a generalization. The entire "movement" is just a bunch of pissed off little men who hate women because one women broke their heart that one time. Or they like to use pickup lines like "hey b***h wanna f**k?" then get upset that they get turned down. MGTOW is an embarrassment to all men. To pretend like it's EVERY SINGLE WOMAN in the world and not the tiny group of men who claim to be MGTOW is truly ridiculous. Nobody takes you people seriously.

I had double pneumonia and I still cooked Christmas dinner. My husband came home from work early 6 weeks later with the sniffles. He has never left work early before, so I was caught off guard. There's tons of female nurses in hospitals, risking virus and bacteria infections from their patients and having to witness real life gore and literally having sh*tty jobs by cleaning poop from bed ridden patients. With a dash of misinformation to add spice to the mix. It's estrogen (in women) that has scientifically proven antiviral activity, not testosterone in men or men being humorless wimps that make our flu worse. So far the cute animal posts are winning for me, but if the male bashing gets too intense, it will be delete app time.
It's not male bashing. It's a joke about how some males act while sick. It's truly nothing to be upset at.

While he laid in bed dying he told me to feel his head... had to say "You're just sweaty, that isn't a fever." When he couldn't sleep he said to me "I'm glad you're still sick too." Thanks dearest.
I had double pneumonia and I still cooked Christmas dinner. My husband came home from work early 6 weeks later with the sniffles. He has never left work early before, so I was caught off guard. He told me how horrible he felt and he turned around and went to bed. I seriously lost my cool. I made sure he knew just what he had done. To this day, he has not complained about having a cold again. They can be taught ladies!
can't wait for the BP post about wahmen in unpleasant hazardous hard work environment Untitled-1...a8c224.jpg
There's tons of female nurses in hospitals, risking virus and bacteria infections from their patients and having to witness real life gore and literally having sh*tty jobs by cleaning poop from bed ridden patients. And that's just one example. Please, let's not diminish each other's work and roles, it's all important and valuable.

Load More Replies...As everyone knows, it is always women who are whining about having headaches, backaches, and anything else they can moan about.
Of course not all men are like this! Nobody ever said they were.
