Yep. My mom had been seeing a guy pretty seriously for a few years. Gets diagnosed with breast cancer. He disappears. (Karma caught up with him, 5 years after she passed, he is diagnosed with dementia and his daughter drops him at a nursing home and disappears.)

Yes it is. Talking to my husbands hospice nurses, they stated that most home hospice patients are men being taken care of by their wives, and many of the hospice patients in wards are women who's husbands come and visit at times. ( Funny thing is that I was about to divorce him before he got sick 20 yrs ago. I stayed and cared for him all that time.

Apparently, some men just can't handle the emotional trauma of a seriously ill partner. I have a chronic illness and thank God daily for my husband's love, kindness & understanding.

Possibly that happened to six women she knows and only the seventh one in the group stayed? Otherwise no idea where she got the ‘six time more likely’ from.

To many people those are not vows, but just words to be broken. I would have had no problem leaving my husband in good times in health... but when he needed me the most... I was frickin THERE!
