"There are numerous reasons why a person should consider leaving their job," Lee, who also creates content for Instagram, Twitter, LinkedIn, and YouTube, told Bored Panda. "For example, if they are surrounded by toxic colleagues (and they've tried to improve the situation by talking to their manager or said colleague but nothing changes), the company provides no continuous personal development opportunities, or their job isn't even something they want to do—maybe they got into it just to live someone else's dream. Or maybe they're offered a great long-term career opportunity elsewhere."

If someone is serious about quitting but aren't quite sure yet, Lee said it would be a good idea to start by simply considering the pros and cons of staying vs. leaving. "You can even write everything down on paper or an Excel sheet for better clarity!"
"Try to do some background checks on the new company if it fits your personal growth needs, financial needs, technical skills, future career goals, company culture (check reviews on Glassdoor, Kununu, and Google)," the career coach advised.
"If still in doubt, accept the invitation to go for an interview (for this, it's important to have a list of questions ready!). Clarify any doubts you may have about the new job or company background."
Lee highlighted that going for an interview doesn't automatically mean you're agreeing to the offer but it can provide valuable information and make your decision a lot easier. "It is just an opportunity for you to have a deeper understanding of the job and whether it suits you, while it gives the recruiter a chance to get to know you better if you suit the job—think of it like going for a first date! It doesn't mean you're gonna get married."

Your aim, according to Lee, should be to find a place where you are about 80% happy, leaving the rest 20% for possible minor inconveniences that both you and the company can work on in the future.

The date of the change over myself and 1 other of the 3 vet techs quit, on the spot. Two months later, the last tech and a receptionist quit. Checked into it 2 or 3 yrs later and the original owner purchased the clinic back. Load More Replies...Some of these are funny and not too unprofessional, but some of them are also rude and unprofessional, I'm not sure if the US has the same kind of thing as the UK's cv's and such, but often times when applying for different jobs you will be asked for references from former employers - if you quit so unprofessionally and rudely, it's going to look bad on your references. So whilst it's so tempting, try to keep it lighthearted and not too unprofessional still if you plan to quit in this kind of way.
The U.S. does. Most white-collar jobs, in my experience, will require three references, and it's really encouraged that at least one of those be a former or current supervisor. In some cases, even if the boss isn't listed as a reference, the potential new job will call for one anyway.

My work has a policy that in order to terminate an employee as "resigned", we have to include their resignation letter, which HAS to have their name, the last date worked, etc. If we don't have that or it doesn't include those elements, then we have to either track down the employee and beg them to send it to us, or we have to terminate them as "Job abandonment" (Yeah, I've argued with HR several times and told them that the employees gave me verbal notice and an email saying they were resigning, but my company sucks), which could impact them getting hired again if they applied.
Honestly, I would not want to do most of these, because they just seem childish. I am a big fan of passive aggressive, but most of these are over the top. Nothing like calling in sick with work piled up on your desk and then just never come back :)

now, i feel so incompetent. the last place i resigned from required an exit interview - a written one so actually a written response to their questions regarding the dept. however, i did write a three page essay with bullet points and key words designed to get the director's attention.

I quit my big box dog grooming job because they tried to change my hours with a single day's notice. Since that job is appointment based, my state requires they give us at least 6 weeks notice (so we have time to take care of already scheduled appointments before the schedule change). Oh, and TWO groomers somehow had to keep the salon open 8am-9 pm 7 days a week. So I gave them a whopping 2 days notice. Had I not had some of my favourite dogs scheduled for those two days that I wanted to say goodbye to, I would have quit on the spot.

The presentation of most of these resignation notices are so poorly executed that the employers are probably glad they didn't have to fire them.
