My mama died from this horrific disease 3 years ago. We had this conversation a few times. 😭

My grandmother says this. It's endearing and heartbreaking at the same time.

When my dad was in a care facility he would recognize me, we'd talk... then he'd ask me to help him measure the wall with an invisible tape measure.

This one hits hard but I hope that it is how it is with my mum. She has Alzheimer's and whilst she still knows who I am I hope that when she doesn't know me, she will still remember how she feels.

My father-in-law remembered who I was yesterday. Long enough to make a joke about me renting my daughter, his granddaughter, out for "grandfather-care". I love the small moments like those, although I tend to just try to roll with whoever he thinks I am (sometimes that nice gal who makes cookies & sometimes I just look familiar).

A conversation to treasure...

Horrible, hellish disease. My poor husband had early on-set. One sweet moment was when he and I were sitting with another patient having snacks. She asked me 10 times or more if he was my brother. Each time I responded "No, he's my husband" with a smile. Then she changed it up and asked if I was his sister. I said "no, I'm his wife". My sweet hubby lit up with a big smile and said "You are?!" I swooned and was so glad it made him so happy.

Evil disease my dad passed from it 11 years ago now. Thankfully he always remembered me with his heart even if he didn't with his head.

I don’t know if this is the same thing at all… but my 19 year old dog.. we’re pretty sure she has developed doggy dementia. She paces all the time… she screams if she brushes against things because she’s blind in one eye and can no longer tell what that thing is…. She forgets where she is or where she’s going in the house…. She no longer knows what time of day it is… except for 9 in the morning.. because she gets her wet food then… and 7:30 at night… because she gets treats then. Beyond that, she no longer knows. She gets lost going to pee and pees at the water bowl or at the door. It’s sad to watch her slowly forget everything… knowing one day she might forget how to breathe. She saved my life.. and it’s going to kill me when I lose her. I’ve never had a better dog… except maybe her sister, who seems to be doing great. No matter how much I might get irritated at her slowness sometimes, I know I’m going to miss her being in the way.

Most brutal, heartbreaking disease I swear.

My wife went into labor on Labor Day. She took it quite literally.

Was in Lidl the other day and a woman was wondering where the lettuce was. I pointed and said "Iceburg deåd ahead" I couldn't resist myself. We both laughed so all was good 👍

My mother also. Used to pick her up every Saturday for breakfast and shopping. Pulled in the driveway one beautiful summer day and she opened the door, holding her phone, saying "Oh...nevermind. She's here now." When she got in the car I asked who she was talking to and she said "The police." I asked WHY??? and she said because I was late and I was never late so she thought something happened. I replied that I had TOLD her I'd be late because I had a dentist appointment. She said "Ohhhh....that's right! Where do you want to go to eat?".

Omg I feel this. My parents performed only the required parenting duties which did not include extra curriculars, displays of love, compassion, encouragement etc. and I love them but my adult life has been very difficult to navigate.
