Being a “plant parent” has several upsides, from stress reduction to a sharpened focus and improved air quality in your surroundings. However, it also involves putting in the work and spending the necessary resources to achieve a healthy harvest.
If you’re a plant owner, the memes on this list may resonate well with you. These are from the ProjectPlantBack Instagram account, a page dedicated to horticultural content. It pokes fun at the tedious yet fulfilling process of gardening and seeing the seeds you sowed grow into greenery.

My soon-to-be-wife had a christmas cactus that was on it’s last legs. She handed it over to my mother and it soon had progeny thriving it three different states. We were smart enough to ask for a cutting for us to care for.

Whether you’re just getting into gardening or have already been doing it for a while, you may have heard some myths you don’t know whether or not to believe. According to landscaping expert David Beaulieu, one of the common misconceptions is that struggling plants need more fertilizer.
In an article for The Spruce, Beaulieu says struggling plants may be caused by insufficient drainage or incorrect soil pH levels. He also explained that too much fertilizer may harm plants, resulting in fertilizer burn.
My friend found a monstera next to some bins and took it home. When she found out that it was poisonous to cats another friend took the plant and repotted it. A year later I asked for a cutting but she asked if I felt like taking the whole plant as she found it too large for her flat. My flat at the tine was a lot smaller, but I didn't care. I NEEDED THAT PLANT. I now have a large flat and that plant has exploded in size. I've dubbed it Plantzilla.
I've just learned I'm not weird, that's quite nice. I've also just learned I probably love my plants more than most of people O_o
I do that when people start with pics of the kids and grandkids...
I potted up a false castor oil plant we have outside our front door yesterday and it grew upwards so much overnight! Stems rather than new leaves. It gives such a happy.

We tried getting back into shape for a couple months but unfortunately another day of strong winds finally took it all down. We're heartbroken. But my SO decided not to cut all of the trunk. Last week I noticed a couple new branches started to grow. This week, we have a few more. The last 6 months has been tough but seeing the tree still alive and growing has bring us so much joy.
A wilting plant may seem like it needs more water. According to Beaulieu, this is another common myth leading people to overwater their crops, which results in stunted growth, yellowing leaves, and more wilting.
Instead, Beaulieu advises checking for possible fungal diseases or insufficient irrigation. Overwatering can also increase moisture levels, which can cause fungal growth.
This is a little pick me feeling ngl. I personally hate nails but there's nothing wrong with wearing them and have you ever heard of garden gloves?
I really don't like this "other girls vs me" meme. It's so "look at me, I'm different, I'm special, I'm better".....
Everybody else: these "nobody vs me memes" are funny. Us: they suck.

Keeping houseplants in tight pots is a common mistake plant owners make. According to horticulturist Justin Hancock, plants may “tolerate” being root-bound but may not necessarily thrive.
In an interview with Homes and Gardens, Hancock advises regular repotting in bigger pots and giving plants fresh compost regularly. He adds that repotting may require less watering, while keeping them root-bound may cause them to dry out quicker.
Yep. Satisfies my need for plants and my need for light. When can I move in?
The only thing I'm concerned about is if there will be extra moisture in the brick wall that is inside the greenhouse?

Have you seen that house in Sweden that was built inside a giant greenhouse. It's amazing.
So my house is structured this way. Not nearly so dramatically, but the main house portion is next to an almost equally large glass room. I will tell you that you need to have a very dramatic pitched roof. Otherwise it will leak. That same pitched roof can make heating issues in your regular house. My situation is A little different though as I do not have them separate, there's no wall to cut off the greenhouse as you see here.
I have a fully furnished greenhouse. It has a couple of houseplants, carpet, lights, chairs and table, heater, and several flamingos
Many people employ winterproofing strategies, such as covering their plants with burlap. However, experts like garden designer Amber Freda say this step isn’t particularly necessary.
“Doing so can prevent the plants from receiving sunlight, which can be detrimental to evergreens that need to keep photosynthesizing even in the winter months,” Freda explained, adding that winterproofing is only needed for tropical plants that won’t survive the cold weather.

I am continually amazed by the tenacity of some plants and the fragility of others.
Diva plants are fun though. I talk to them far more than the hardy ones.

The Crowley school of gardening. Put the fear of hell into those plants.
This is my favourite reference on BP for many a moon 👌🏻

You can have plants, or you can have three cats. Take your pick. You can’t have both!
I'd love to have plants but they wouldn't like my north facing apt and most are toxic for cats
Cast iron plant!! My cat doesn’t care about it and it is pretty difficult to kíll! I also have north facing apt. Just keep away from any major vents haha. That’s how I killed my first one

Green roofs are a wonderful idea. But at what point do they collapse?
I stayed in a Taj hotel recently and all the ground floor buildings that were just one level (restaurant, cafe, etc.) had rooftop gardens, but super light-weight, not trees and stuff like in this photo, which I'm doubting is real cos yeah, COLLAPSE. Anyway the hotel rooftops, so nice to look down from your balcony and see that, instead of just a tiled roof or something. They lit up at night, too...
Load More Replies...All of the folliage on the roof looks like it might be a bunch of fake greenery that was glued on. My brother had this really cool train and track set-up when we were kids and that's how he did it!
And they don't scream, cry, have chair races in the hallways or play on your phone...
Just make sure you don't let them have a big drink of water before....
Load More Replies...Not accurate. You need the plants in the bedroom, kitchen and bathroom too!
I have one plastic plant next to my appartment door because there is just no light. Plastic plant os sometimes better than no plant
I have a plastic plant that is a Halloween decoration. It's got teeth and eyes and it stays up all year because it's hilarious

No problem for me cos when I buy houseplants or propagate them I always decide where to put em when they big lol
I love carnivorous plants. They grew very well, but didn't survive winter, no matter what did I do. Now I have one cactus, wish me luck.
Yeah bit bare I thought lol at least twice that mount ?
Load More Replies...With enough plants, you only need white for wall and ceiling colors.
We might be moving and I'm already trying to figure out how to take all my plants with me.
I put my hardy ones in lidless boxes. I wrapped the more delicate ones with newspaper in like a cone around the pot. Put them all in the car. Good luck!
Load More Replies...I hear the eye rolls when I find the other plant lover in the group I'm with and start talking about plant issues ... not everyone's into it!
I brought home a crepe myrtle from a N Georgia Home Depot many years ago. I fussed over that thing (in a bucket) for years and got it blooming for 3 or so years and I was so proud. I dutifully brought it indoors every autumn because they won't thrive in the Michigan winters. Then one year it started looking "off" and I had a neighbor who was also into plants and fussed over this thing for weeks, driving her partner and my partner crazy trying to diagnose the thing. I lost it to powdery freaking mold. I was sad.

I have 2 apple trees started from seed, will be able to plant them outside in about 5 years, (did it 30 years ago, so many apples!). I have 2 sequoia trees, they are 3 inches tall, but just you wait!. I love my plants. I also have a beautiful jade plant, vine (name I can't remember) and an orchid I'm trying to coax into blooming again.
I converted my "garden" tub in my master bathroom that we never used into a literal garden tub because it got the most light in our house due to the glass block windows we installed around it. My houseplants love it!
I'm terrible with plants. Luckily my SIL isn't, so I get to enjoy seeing the bees and butterflies on the lavender, look at the succulents with water 'diamonds' after the rain and admire the strelitzias.
I'm not allowed in B&M by myself any more. I bought so many plants for the gazebo last year that we had to take half of them to my parents to over winter
