I feel for parents with sleepless colic babies. I had a terrible case of it as a baby and they said I screeched non-stop, barely ever slept. Thank you to all parents, during the holidays, for doing your very best.

I don't think all kids are forced to. Yeah some kids don't like it but others don't mind. 😉

My daughter loves Santa but hates the Easter Bunny. So we don't see the Easter Bunny anymore lol.

My parents didn't make me or my brother do it. It was always an optional "fun thing for the kids" but I think I did it once before finding it too awkward and weird.

When I was in first grade, we had a Christmas school play. The man in Santa costume wore a plastic mask. The kids had to go to him on the stage and get their gift and give Santa a kiss. I was horrified by that mask, and it's still one of my most disturbing memories to this age. I'm 36 now and still remember that moment. So yeah, I understand and agree with your comment 100%.

See this is why my kids never did this. It just freaks me out. They have seen a Santa but we've never made them sit there

I mean, most little kids usually think that it IS the real Santa, so they don't see him as a stranger. I know when I was little, I thought he was real. Most kids don't think that deeply about it.

I hated it. And we were forced to "smile" or we'd be in big trouble when we got home " for embarrassing mom and dad" ..the sort of trouble that leaves bruises.

I knew how to properly swear by age 4 and then learned to hide the fact from my parents.

I'd say that at that age I didn't know more than that it was a taboo gesture. So naturally I used it all of the time. Honestly, don't forbid your children from vulgar gestures or profane language. Instead, have a conversation about when it's appropriate.
