Friendly Neighborhood Dog
The cute deer, I'm reasonably sure, is a Muntjac; an Asian species now invading the UK - small, and the males - have FANGS. Seriously. Question is- are dogs now recruiting extra help with home security?
We don't build houses that well in the United States so you're probably right.
Load More Replies...Dang. This is a very interesting photograph. The dog and the cat and the deer look chill with each other.
This is so wholesome and wonderful. I would be delighted to come home to this

Our barker had mouth surgery yesterday. It's so sad how quiet she is. It used to drive me crazy, but I miss it so much. She's doing okay.
Owning a Pet is Good for Your Health
In an interview with Psych Central in 2024, Dr. Larena Davis, counselor and clinical director for The Recovery Village Cherry Hill at Cooper, explains that having a pet can benefit one’s health by increasing our dopamine, serotonin, and oxytocin levels — all hormones that make us happy.
Oxytocin, for instance, is often called the “love” hormone because it fosters the development of bonds with others. Our bloodwork also improves with pet ownership. Pet owners are noted to have lower triglyceride and cholesterol levels (indicators of heart disease) than those without pets.
They also register lower blood pressure in stressful situations than those without pets. For example, when people with borderline hypertension adopted dogs from a shelter, their blood pressure declined significantly within five months.
Regular walks with pets may be one reason for the healthier outcomes. According to Lawrence Robinson and Jeanne Segal, Ph.D. (Help Guide, 2024), residents who walked their dogs for up to 20 minutes five days a week lost an average of 14.4 pounds a year without ever changing their diets (2). People who owned dogs also increased their weekly walking time by 30 minutes.
“May Dog Acting Normal”
Your dog is definitely holding. He's probably also driving on a suspended license. It's a good thing dogs can't sweat because your seats would be soaked.
The real suspicious part is that the dog is in the driver's seat (*here in the States).
And in about 3 seconds he won't be able to contain himself any longer n

Your Dog Can Feel When You’re Happy or Sad
Ever wonder why your puppy snuggles close when you’re sad? It’s because dogs can sense your sadness. Even without knowing the context of your pain, they can distinguish the joyous sound of laughing from the sound of crying. Negative sounds affect dogs more than positive ones, so they respond appropriately, says Stephanie Gibeault in a 2018 article for the American Kennel Club (3).
After observing the dogs, Gibeault noted that they consistently turned to the left upon hearing fear and sadness vocalizations, regardless of how subtle these sounds were, such as changes in breathing. This behavior suggests that the dogs processed these specific sounds in the right side of their brain, leading them to interpret the sounds as unfavorable. On the other hand, for happy sounds, the dogs turned to the right, showing that they interpreted them as positive.
“Send in the Werewolf!”
The picture isn't of two beings, it's actually just shot really slowly so you have her in human form on the left and werewolf form on the right.

The Most Intelligent Pets
You may be surprised that the most intelligent pets aren't typical household pets. The top two animals on the list are the African Gray Parrot and pig, writes Mitch Ryan in a 2023 feature for How Stuff Works (4).
African Gray Parrots are beautiful mute gray parrots with a red feather accent. They’re some of the most intelligent birds, best known for their human language comprehension and accurate mimicry. It can perfectly follow anyone’s speech pattern. Gray Parrots also have extensive problem-solving skills and excellent memories that allow them to surpass the cognitive abilities of a human toddler.
Pigs, which come second, have spatial awareness and memorization abilities comparable to those of a human toddler. Ryan writes that they also demonstrate high social and emotional intelligence levels with other pigs and can interact with creatures outside their species. These characteristics make pigs brilliant creatures and pets.
According to Jeanna Bryner (Live Science, 2009), domesticated dogs rank third but are still on par with human two-year-olds. However, dogs’ intelligence varies significantly between the breeds, with Border Collies considered one of the smartest (5). They’re closely followed by poodles, German shepherds, and golden retrievers.

The Many Names of a Mischievous Pup
When I was pretty little my dad used to say they"d**n don't do that", d**n it get out of there", "d**n get down from there", "s**t get away from there stop that, etc.. I didn't know my real name until I was about three or four! But I loved him! 😃❤️
This perfect pup looks just like my best friend, Bourbon. A lifesaving seizure alert companion of 13 years. Rest in peace, dear one, I’ll never love the same way again.
Some friends of mine had cats named Pugsley and Wednesday, however Wednesday was more commonly known as Sh*thead. They even had a Pfaltzgraff food dish for her that said Sh*thead on the front--and mine you, this was not stenciled or painted on the front, it was literally embossed right into the pottery. So apparently, Sh*thead is a more common pet name than you'd expect.

“When You Have to Do Things Yourself”
I dated a guy who had a totally chill dog. Mine was a little more active. So we'd lease them together to control mine. One day out camping, a ranger stopped as said we had to have the dogs leashed. We said we did. He said leashed to an immovable object. We said we did. Then we did tie them to the picnic table leg, since he wasn't as amused as we were.
My golden retriever used to do that. But only if she was going to see the vets. She'd lead herself in the door, go behind the counter and sit staring pointedly at the jar where they kept the liver treats. Once she had her treat, she'd greet all people and dogs in reception very politely. She kept away from cats.

A petting zoo, has cows? Someone doesn't know where this person actually is (state fair would be my guess).
We do have them in the Netherlands. They are called Children's Farm (Kinderboerderij), with classic pets like bunnies, guinea pigs, but also sheep, donkeys, goats, ponies, pigs, cows [edit], some even have horses. Children may interact with them, which is the general point of these farms.

Your “Welcome Home” Committee
Why do you assume this dog is neglected/abused? Some dogs have separation anxiety and will destroy things because they have behavioral issues. Especially if they are a rescue when you may not know their history. I worked at a veterinary clinic and we would refer dogs like this to trainers and recommend kennel training until they can handle being left alone.
