If the day has you feeling overwhelmed, we've got a great excuse for you to take a break and refresh your mind. Vaughan Tomlinson's series of cartoons provides a delightful escape from the hustle and bustle, offering moments filled with humor and smiles.

When asked about the inspiration for his work during our last interview, Vaughan told us he finds it everywhere; however, New York seems to be a special source of his ideas. The artist added: “You can’t go out and not see something strange or funny. I’ll be walking around and see or hear something that gives me an idea, or at least gets me thinking. Examples could be someone trying to walk a cat on a leash, runners angrily running around people, or a chicken on the subway being ignored by everyone.”

Bored Panda reached out to Vaughan Tomlinson to ask him some more questions about his recent comics. We were wondering what, according to him, are the most rewarding aspects of being a comic artist, and what keeps him motivated to continue creating. We found out: "I love drawing and being creative. I’ve been doing that my whole life. But what really motivates me to continue making cartoons is being able to connect with readers and other artists. It’s very rewarding knowing that my silly drawings can make someone’s day a little brighter."

The series of cartoons shared by Tomlinson keeps gaining more and more followers on his Instagram profile. We asked the artist how it feels to bring joy with art to this many people. Vaughan shared with us: "I find it quite fulfilling. With so much negativity in the world right now, it feels good to know that I’ll get some readers to laugh. I want people to like what I put out, but ultimately, I create what I find funny and trust that fans of my work have a similar warped sense of humor and will find it funny too."

Knowing the variety of characters appearing in Tomlison’s work, we asked which one of them he finds the most funny for his fans. The artist told us: "One character that seems to always get a laugh is the Grim Reaper. I think that’s because the joke is relatable and makes light of a heavy concept we all tend to think about often: mortality. The Grim Reaper is a way to explore the human condition and deal with existential dread in a humorous way."

We were also curious if, outside of his comic work, the author uses humor in his daily life. Vaughan said: "I think it’s incredibly important to try to be a positive influence on the people around you in whatever way you can. I believe that positive actions can inspire and motivate others to pay it forward. So it is possible to make the world a better place a little bit at a time, even if it is just brightening someone’s day with a joke or a kind gesture."

Lastly, we asked the artist if there was anything he’d like to share with our readers, and we heard: "Apart from cartooning, I also paint and do illustration work. So keep an eye out for those projects and please give them a chance!"

The question isn't whether this will happen, but how much time do we have before it does?

It's easier to watch 'How to Remove a Kidney' on YouTube at home.
