While some employees are praised for how hardworking and reliable they are, others don’t stretch themselves thin over work-related matters. That’s fair enough; not everyone is equally eager to walk the extra mile when they don’t have to.

But some employees do so little, they barely cover what’s expected of them; and even then, often in a way that makes their superiors want to smack their hand to their forehead (or facepalm, as the youth would say). Today, we have gathered some of the best of such facepalm moments, shared on the ‘Not My Job’ subreddit, which perfectly depict just how little some employees are willing to do. Scroll down to find them on the list below and enjoy.

As a deaf person I rely on captions and you often see some very weird mistakes. Auto captions are the bane of my life, they can be very funny with mis hearing words but also means I miss out on what is being said. I'm 'lucky' that I used to be hearing, so know what words sounds like so can say the wrong sentence/ word in my head and try and work out what it was meant to say. Those who are deaf from birth can't. I wish more video content creators would add human written captions to their videos. Doesn't just help those who can't hear, but also those watching in public with no headphones and those who speak that language as a second language.

There are many reasons some people don’t feel eager to do their best at work. It’s safe to assume that not feeling appreciated or looked after is likely to be one of them. Unfortunately, recent statistics reveal that only a few employed adults can say their employer really cares for their well-being.

Gallup’s 2022 survey found that fewer than one in four employed people think that their employer cares for their well-being. Data shows that the number has reached the lowest point in almost a decade, which followed a somewhat sudden rise during the pandemic.

According to Gallup, a decade ago, in 2013, the number of employees who felt cared for wasn’t high either, comprising roughly 23.5% full and part-time workers in the US. By 2019, it increased to 29%, which rose to 49% just a year later in 2020.

That’s because faced with the outbreak of Covid, companies showed genuine concern and came up with plans to ensure the well-being of their employees during the difficult time.

A 2020 survey revealed that more employed people started viewing their company in a more positive (43%) rather than negative (23%) light after seeing the way they handled the pandemic; roughly a third of respondents said the company’s response didn’t alter their opinion about it.

Some of the main steps workplaces took to ensure the well-being of their employees, according to the survey, were encouraging them to stay at home if sick, limiting exposure between them and the customers, and facilitating remote work to the best of their ability, among other things.

ContributionOpen3966 Report

Gallup found that since the peak in 2020, when employees felt cared for the most, the fond feeling has been slowly fading away. Needless to say, the companies don’t benefit from that much.

That’s because employees feeling well-taken care of are significantly less likely to actively look for a new job or report experiencing burnout; they are also more likely to strongly advocate for their company and feel more engaged at work. Their views and actions might do a 180, though, if they don’t feel comfortable in the workplace.

While the extent to which employees feel tended to is diminishing, the level of work-related stress has reportedly been on the rise over the recent years. Surveys show that 2022 was the second year in a row when employee stress levels reached new heights as roughly 44% of them admit to feeling work-related anxiety.

Pardon ? It cannot be a common mistake because nobody has made it before...until now :-) Mary Shelley (the sister of Percy Bysse Shelley) wrote "Frankenstein". Contrary to popular belief, Frankenstein was the doctor, not the monster.

Quite often, high levels of stress at work lead to burnout, which can become the reason a person resorts to doing the bare minimum. But let’s be honest, chances are some employees are just lazy, and that might lead to similar results.

Some people even believe that the two are connected; nearly three in four of them say that laziness can contribute to workplace stress.

Whether stressed, lazy, or unmotivated due to lack of care from the company, (or for any other reason, for that matter) some workers don’t feel the need to impress anyone with their performance or earn the title of the employee of the month. And while that might be upsetting for their employers, members of the ‘Not My Job’ community can get a hearty laugh at some of the examples of their achievements.
