Mike, the creator of the series, told us in our last interview that he initially started making comics simply because “it just seemed like a fun thing to try.” He elaborated: “When reading other people’s comics, I thought to myself, I think I could do that too. So I tried.”

We reached out to the cartoonist behind the series once again, this time to ask a few more questions about his work. One of them was how Mark would describe his comic in just three words. Here’s what we found out: “Sly wry guys. It’s the first thing I thought of. I’d be sad if my comic was easily described.”

The artist also mentioned that sometimes, the strips unexpectedly resonate with his audience, and other times, the reaction is the opposite: “I'm always surprised what is popular or unpopular. The popularity of this comic surprised me.”

Sometimes, the cure is worse than the disease. Sometimes, it doesn't have to be that way ...
When we asked Mike about his personal favorite strip, he responded: “I really like this one because I like the idea of there being this intergalactic agency trying to catalog the entire universe but they aren't really doing a great job and they have so much work to do.”
We also asked if there are situations when the cartoonist has to abandon an idea he was fond of because it simply didn’t work as a comic. Mike replied: “100s. I have a huge pile of notes of things that seem like good ideas but haven't quite gotten them to work. Some of them I eventually figure out a way to make them into comics. I never know if/when I'll figure out a way to get them to work.”
Finally, the creator of ‘Made of Mistakes’ revealed who his dream collaboration artist would be, should the opportunity ever arise: “Probably someone like ‘The Perry Bible Fellowship’. I really like their varied art style and sense of humor.”

Just a neutral guy ? - A disintegration ray could be used to get rid of trash for example, not having to wait a few hundred years for nuclear waste to become slighlty less dangerous also would be great. Solving such a problem should be rewarded

Fun fact: SOS was choosen in 1905 by the german trade navy because it's easy to spell and recognize. It does not stand for "Safe our Ship" or "Safe our Souls" - it was just chosen for being three times "short", 3 times "long" and 3 times "short" again without being an acronym at all
