New York City is a place where everyone's in a rush and the rent is too high, but the hot dogs and pizzas are one of a kind. Many have a love-hate relationship with this buzzing metropolis but nobody can deny that it's one of the most colorful corners of the world.

And few illustrate that as vividly and accurately as the subreddit r/NYC. With 690K members, the community of both locals and visitors constantly shares experiences, photos, and stories that originate in the Big Apple. Continue scrolling to check out some of the most memorable ones.

It is, but I can guarantee you it’s color enhanced either with Photoshop, or some other type of photo editing software.

Looks like it belongs in Europe!! Our country is so “new,” relatively speaking, but this delightful structure has seen some things!!!

Yes, I agree – it looks like European architecure in a way. Maybe in Paris, Vienna, Budapest or Prague? But then again – as far as I can tell – it’s as “Old New Yorkish” as can be.

A great book is "New York" by Edward Rutherfurd. It's a novel based on historical facts.

Our old is still super new for most countries. Most apartment buildings on the European Continent are older that this.

Naw, not really. Definitely not *most* apartment buildings. There *are* quite a number of these old buildings alright. But it strongly depends on the quarter or district – or even the city you visit. For instance, if you’d visit Frankfurt-am-Main you’d be surprised about the percentage of *very modern* apartment buildings (too many I say).
