It’s often said that two things are infinite: the universe and human stupidity. While the first is still up for debate, the internet seems to prove the latter every day. Because frankly, the ridiculous and offensive opinions people express online sometimes make you wonder if common sense is even real.
Fortunately, there’s a place where these moments get the attention they deserve: r/facepalm. This subreddit calls out all sorts of cringe-worthy blunders, and we’ve pulled together some of their most outrageous posts. Check them out below!

Absolutely Unreal 🙃👇
The Truth Hurts
Of course, none of us are immune to slipping up and saying something questionable online. However, there’s a difference between a simple mistake and a pattern of constant stupidity or rudeness. It often seems like people let their thoughts run wild on the internet, behaving differently than they would in real life.
This phenomenon is actually well-documented. Researchers call it the ‘online disinhibition effect,’ a concept introduced by psychologist John Suler in 2004. In simple terms, it means users drop their usual social restraints and inhibitions when communicating online, saying things they’d normally keep to themselves.
They Should've Trust Him
These Social Media Influencing Is Getting Out Of Hand
Internet psychologist Graham Jones suggests that, in some ways, our online behavior mirrors what happens in face-to-face interactions. “Having said that, there is a feature of the online world that makes such negative behaviour more likely than in the real world,” he explains. “In the real world people subconsciously monitor the behaviour of others around them and adapt their own behaviour accordingly... Online we do not have such feedback mechanisms.”
Something Important
This is so wrongly phrased. I would rather say a "daily item" than important since even important items can be forgotten if not part of your daily routine, and "daily items" don't really need to be important in that aspect.
Good Guys With Guns Not Allowed?
When You Pretend To Be Religious
These feedback mechanisms include body language, facial expressions, and other clear signals that reveal how people respond to what we’re saying. For example, if we make a hurtful comment towards someone, we might notice their visible discomfort, or if we do something embarrassing, others might laugh. These cues guide our behavior and help us follow social norms. However, in digital interactions, these immediate responses are missing, leaving us without the usual prompts to adjust our behavior.
America
Also, look at the number of millionaire Republicans that held their hands out too.
By Watching Movies For Several Hours Is A Waste?
Moreover, on the internet, we can easily go incognito or share only limited information about ourselves, which can make it feel like our actions and words have no real-world consequences. We can choose usernames instead of our real names, avoid sharing personal photos, or even hide our IP addresses. Suler refers to this as ‘dissociative anonymity.’ It creates a sense of detachment, making us feel less accountable for what we say, and some might even convince themselves that their online personas “aren’t me at all.”

America
Seems I'm just as stoopid as this dude, 'cause I see his sarcastic point - someone care to explain why this makes him and I idiots?
Many of our online interactions also don’t happen in real time. When we post something, send a private message, or leave a comment, it can take minutes, hours, or even days before we hear back from anyone.
“In real life, the analogy might be speaking to someone, magically suspending time before that person can reply, and then returning to the conversation when one is willing and able to hear the response,” writes Suler.
The delay in feedback means we often don’t connect emotionally with the situation, allowing us to “run away” from the moment and retreat to our safe space where nothing feels wrong.
American Cops Scare Me
Police absolutly need body cams, but mostly because they can protect a victim. I’ve seen records of a cop faking finding d***s in innocent peoples cars, every time he ‘found’ them, he would move away the body cam, and only move it back once he was away from the vehicle and had the object in question.

He knew exactly what is in there and his name crops up often.
Just Well
Either ... "The Inquisition, The Inquisition!" (in a singsongy voice) Or ... "No one expects the (Spanish) Inquisition!" (in a Monty Pythony voice). Or burning witches at Salem? Or probably any one of another 5000 examples (Colonization?) that could be cited. This does seem to be the most idiotic statement yet.
In some cases, the internet can create a false sense of closeness with people we interact with, leading us to reveal things we wouldn’t normally share with just anyone in real life.
“Often, people will consider their online ‘friends’ and connections much closer to them than they really are,” explains L. Gordon Brewer, a therapist who specializes in working with individuals and couples. “This results in lowered boundaries, which makes people feel more comfortable venting and discussing controversial topics, and more likely to share intimate details that are traditionally reserved for their inner circle.”
While our friends and family might easily forgive us for going off on a tangent or saying something awkward, the same comments can sound odd or even mean to strangers online.
Makes No Sense
Everything's Going To Be Alt-Right
To Make America “Great”
On the other hand, being less guarded on the internet can sometimes lead to surprisingly positive outcomes. People may find themselves being kinder, more compassionate, and more willing to open up about their struggles and thoughts. For example, a British study found that teenagers felt comfortable discussing their mental health issues in online forums where they could remain anonymous. This freedom made it easier for them to get support and connect with others who provided helpful advice.
Maybe Teachers Should Get A Raise?
I Don’t Even Know What To Say
Nope, All Above The Law
At the end of the day, some people will be intentionally hurtful online simply because they want to be. “There are just people who are mean-spirited and who will say something cruel just because they know it hurts,” says Brewer. “This is often caused by a sense of insecurity and, somehow, lashing out makes them feel more secure in themselves.” Chances are, those who behave this way are struggling with deep personal issues and use their internet presence as a way to gain some control over their own lives.
People Are Monsters…
Sorry to be persnickity, but this behavior is EVIL, not idiotic. Hope that clears things up.

So if you ever feel tempted to post something mean or inappropriate online, consider if there might be something else troubling you. Likewise, if you come across a comment that really gets under your skin, keep in mind that the person behind it might be dealing with their own struggles. And when in doubt, remember that you always have the option to block or mute—sometimes, it’s the best way to maintain your own peace of mind.
Did The Mistake Of Calling My Coworker Bro
I get the weird feeling this person doesn't know what a "brother" or "sister" actually is and just misread the context he got on a porn site.
Can't Like Fit Girls Without Being Gay
Wow. No matter how I try to understand any point of view that would make "sense", I cannot. My brain hurts now.

Are you seriously calling that highly processed c**p "food"?... Yes, we don't have food here in Europe.

Flashnews, people can speak more than one language regardless of the color of their skin.
Wh-What Did I Just Read
I just don't understand transphobes. Like why does the content of other people's pants affect you so much?
Just to be clear, JK Rowling isn’t, she is trying to protect female-only spaces, as one example.
Load More Replies...Here is a question for you. Hope you answer me. A man identifies as woman, no surgery, no hormone replacement therapy. Is that now a real woman? This transwoman goes to jail, should she go to a female prison even though she is still in a fully male body? What is the worst thing that could happen there right? A woman identifies as male, same issue, no surgery, now this transman goes to jail, should he, with still a fully female anatomy go to a male prison? What is the worst that could happen?
Load More Replies...i don't think that is what she is saying...she is saying that a lot of women have been physically and mentally abused by biological men (who are generally physically stronger)...and that there needs to be a space for biological women to be separate from biological men, esp. in places where you uncover your genital, e.g., public bathrooms, locker rooms...she is not expressing fear about trans people...she is expressing a fear many survivors have about biological males....you may not agree, but she is not a villain for saying so...
A lot of Transwomen have Also been physically and mentally abused by biological men and transwomen are at a higher risk of violence than Cis women. I am more than happy to share my safe space with a sister who's safety is as important as mine and is at greater risk.
Load More Replies...Trans rights. Being a woman is not boiled down to our body parts, being a woman is so much more, and it's so weird that anti-trans people are so obsessed with genitals. Women's brains and men's brains are different, and a study was done where trans women who had not transitioned had their brains scanned and compared to both CIS men and CIS women. The trans women had brains far more similar to CIS women than CIS men. What's in your undies does not define your gender, just your biological sex. Science people.
You are correct that gender and biological sex are different, but don't understand that genitals are linked to a person's sex, not their gender identity. Nor do you appear to understand why women want to preserve single-sex spaces.
Load More Replies...She is an awful person... and you are exposing yourself
Load More Replies...I don't think she's a transphobe and she wants women only places I don't have a problem with anyone living do they believe they are but trying to push women out and calling us birthers, chest feeders and being upset when we say biological women- thats my problem. Women are more accepting and open our arms to people that the male population doesn't accept but trying to make us feel bad for having genetically the parts that you want is not how you go about being accepted.
Women are more accepting is not at all my experience as a disabled person. By a long shot.
Load More Replies...I've just finished catching up on the Olympics and there's one particular headline that stands out. "Female boxer quits 45 seconds into her bout after getting a beating by her transwoman opponent". This poor FEMALE athlete is shown on her knees crying and ashamed because her opponent is a biological male. Transphobia? I don't f.u.c.k.i.n.g think so. She was literally being beaten by a man. So suck it the f.u.c.k up when you say trans women are women and we verbally fight back. This is a biological female partaking in a womens sport facing and boxing a biologically intact male, one who failed a DNA test but was allowed to compete anyway. Don't any of you trans supporters f.u.c.k.i.n.g dare start in on the " but trans women are women" b.u.l.l.s.h.i.t. because AN ACTUAL BIOLOGICAL WOMAN WAS JUST LEGALLY BATTERED BY A BIOLOGICAL MAN. You make me sick.
Literally all of that is wrong. Imane Khalef was born with a vagina and has lived as a woman her entire life. She's from one of the most queer-hostile countries in the world, which would never issue a passport with an F to someone whose birth certificate says M. She's a professional boxer who's competed in the Olympics before without issue. The IBA, an organization whose standards are so vague that the IOC can't use them, refused to say what tests they performed or why they expelled her from the world championships halfway through instead of beforehand. The IOC says she meets the standards they set for all competitors in women's boxing. Angela Carini says she tapped out (after one punch - not a "battering") because she felt something move in her face and was concerned about serious injury, and she had no problem fighting Khalef. But of course, in your zeal to protect women, why would you actually listen to them?
Load More Replies...Aren't you ashamed?? She is not wron you sound like a f*****g clown she's hating on trans women but never on trans men when trans people are murdered around the world. You are god awfull.
Load More Replies...please stop giving her a platform to talk on, literally no one cares at this point, we all know she's trash
Even after is was proved that the Algerian boxer Imane Khelif had been a girl/woman her entire life, this nutcase doubled down on her transphobia. methode-ti...f20dd9.jpg
I always respect the difference of opinion in all people. I try my hardest to understand and be respectful and even to see things from others points of view. But this heifer is on my last nerve. Her opinion on the boxing issue of the Olympics just was too much. I kind of knew she was hateful but wanting everyone to have a right to say their piece but now we need a muzzle. A big one, a massive Ryan Giggs gagging order.
This annoys the fudge out of me. She is RIGHT. A trans woman is a trans woman not a woman trans women biologically have female DNA. She doesn’t care if you call yourselves a trans woman but she doesn’t want the definition of woman to change because he is a woman by facts and science.
Poor show making the text she is responding to so small so it looks like an unhinged out of the blue rant. This subject is so toxic and polarised that most rational people just refuse to engage rather than be labelled unfairly or get bogged down in fruitless protracted arguments about it.
She tries to claim it will make women more at risk because DV shelters and such will allow 'men pretending to women' to be there. Meanwhile the real issues are a) trans women are at much higher risk of violence than cis women and b) shelters often won't let anyone male over the age of about 12 to stay there which means if you have male children and are in danger in your home you have to make a choice between your safety and your child.
Load More Replies...She wrote a series that millions of people loved. She made a #$&% ton of money. Can she not just take her win and shut up??? Why advertise that you are on the wrong side of the issue?
I don't get this one. What? Yeah I guess women don't have penises as far as I am concerned? What is the point here? Trans people?
Hate for supporting genetic women is wrong. If one can't understand that an XX is not an XY, one is not thinking clearly. If one can't understand that a trans person "feels" like the sex that they were not born into, you aren't thinking clearly. Be kind; but, be honest - even if it means that a d**k is ALWAYS just a d**k. Forcing sexual stereotypes like trans women do, seems the bigoted stance. Why not just be yourself and be happy... you'll never be Donna Reed.
F.uck off Transphobes! You have no place here as long as someone isn't hurting someone else, just leave people alone and let them do what they want and exist peacefully. It's not that hard! Just be a decent human being!
I love that woman. Always thought Daniel Ratshit and Emma Whatnonsense were not acting rather typecast. Their millions were made from JKR, why don't they give it to Stonewall???? Genuinely, they'd be nothing without her.
She is now attacking an Egyptian woman with, for all we know, a vagina, that has lived all her life recognized as a woman, but has higher testosterone levels. Transphobes don't make sense, they just want someone to hate and attack
So now she's blaming possession on being transphobic? Do I understand that right? Is she actually clinically insane?
Obviously you entirely missed the sarcasm.

This (and most of these it seems) don't match the headline at all. I mean, I'm sure this guy got called out for being a dimwit, but there are no examples of that.

I'd agree with this if the issue was purely about someone else just being a billionaire. The issue isn't about someone else just being a billionaire but largely about how they became and keep staying a billionaire.

Most of these, certainly most of the top rated ones, are completely out of place on this list. They get upvoted because people agree with the content, but they're not at all about people saying dumb things and getting called out for them.
Absolutely. This list was awful and some examples were even outrageously wrong here, for example the one with the school shooting at Uvalde
Load More Replies...This was painful to read. Not only were half the posts nothing to do with people being called out for dumb things, it was also full of divisive rhetoric and just a hodge podge of nonsense. It was just random social media rubbish.
I get the feeling this post is going to be, very shortly, given a new title, as half the posts do not fit the current title.

Hey, BP, how about you let me read a SINGLE entry all the way through without popping in with the same add you've already shown be twelve times already during this one page. (Couldn't even write this one comment without it popping up again).
bored panda, i beg of you, idc what you include in these posts for the most part, but PLEASE stop including things from jk rowling, stop giving her another platform for her hate + the discussion on that specific image is a trash fire. i'm cool with all the scraped AITA stuff, but this site was primarily great art and cat/pet photos when i first found it; please return to more of that, stop giving people reasons to be hateful at each other.
Well...this an absolutely garbage list. Just a bunch of divisive political nonsense attacking one side.
This thread has been like a liberal woke anthem. The best part is that we all agree.
