My Dogs Have Mixed Feelings About Going To The Vet
Cute pictures and beatiful dogs, but I really don't like to see all these dogs sitting completely loose in the cars. They should sit in a cage in the trunk or in special safety belt for dogs. In case of an accident, the dog is totally unprotected and could even fly out of the windshield. You would never let your baby sit totally lose in the car, would you?
My dog has never been scared or not wanting to go to the vet. The last time I took him was because, when I got home from work, he wouldn't stop coughing and vomiting all over the place. As soon as we got to the vet's office, he was so happy he was cured of all ailments. He's nuts.
What kind of Vets do these dogs go to? All my pets have loved the Vet!
I have a golden who loves going to the vets. As soon as I open the car door, Seth can't get out fast enough and will drag me to their door. As soon as he's weighed, he'll hightail it around the receptionist's desk to see who's there. Seth's in a lifetime golden cancer study and has to have a rather long yearly exam which is coming up in a few weeks. Except for having to fast for 12 hours, he's a happy camper as I hand over the tote containing his food and dish then the leash. Why, he doesn't even give me a backwards glance! He's not called Silly Seth for nothing! What a love.
All the more reason to have "well pet" visits.Your pet gets to go to the vet for a quick, non invasive exam, the vet gets to see your animal in a healthy moment and knows them better. Pets get a treat, lots of petting, sweet talking and a happy departure. Then, when they're sick or injured, going to the vet doesn't add to their distress since it's a good place to them and the vet can quickly see the changes to your animal. Sadly, most people don't do these quick visits because they resent paying for the welfare of their family member, when it can actually save you BOTH in the long run. It made a HUGE difference for my lil guy and he was always happy to go and see the cheerful people there. When he wasn't feeling well, or had an injury he knew they were there to help him.
A cage in the trunk??? What r u thinking. Humane society is looking 4 u. Beyond stupid. U try the trunk
My 14 yr old dog? He doesn't care at all. He LOVES all the people that work for Dr Mark. He gets up to greet Mark when he walks into the room .... Either I've got a great dog, or a great Vet. Probably BOTH. Then again, no animal I've ever owned has given not one fig about seeing their Doctor. These people must have bad doctors!!
My dog loves going to the vet, she gets really excited to see her favorite people that work there
If your dogs are so afraid of the vet,you should go to another one. Our Irish Wolfhound loved the Vet from the bottom of her huge heart. That's how it has to be!
Thankfully we walk my dog to the vet, so she thinks of it as a not-fun stop on a fun walk
Once, we had to take our younger cat to the vet 2 days in a row. The first day we got her easily in the carrier as she didn't know what was going on. The second day, when she saw the carrier in our hand, she just lifted her head up and let out a long and sad meoooow sound.
*So* glad my dogs like our vet. Even my unruly, asocial chiweenie likes to see her, and he's a demon with feet.
Why doesn't someone build a dog park NEXT TO a vet's building or vice versa, a vet's office next to a dog park? I am sure you'd have happy puppers.......like taking the kiddos for ice cream after the doctor's. As long as the vet okays it. You wouldn't take a "cone of shame" doggo to the dog park, but if he THINKS he's going to the park, he might not be as stressed on the way there.
As a lifelong pet cohabitor I have come to realize that going to the vet is just as traumatic for me as for the pets.
Poor pups, I´m only upset because in some countries like in the USA dogs don´t need to be fixed in the car with a safety belt, in Germany you gotta do this, or fix the carrier with the safety belt, otherwise you gotta pay a fine of 30 €, if you put anyone (including your pup) in danger 60 € and if your pup damaged anythinig or if damage´s caused to anybody else or his/her car f. ex. 75 € (googled it: https://www.bussgeld-info.de/bussgeldkatalog-tiere-im-auto/)!!!
I'm sorry to say that I didn't find all those sad, disappointed little faces at all funny. I just felt for them, poor things :-(
