Bored Panda got in contact with Kristen Cummings-Fredieu from Off Leash K9 Training to learn more about dog behavior and a few things many people get wrong. First and foremost, we wanted to hear a little more about their story.
“Our page was started when we began offering training services to the better portion of East Tennessee. Off Leash K9 Training - Knoxville is a balanced training program that strives to help dogs of any breed, any age, and any size, live bigger and better lives with their families.”
So we also wanted to hear their opinion on why folks love to see and read more about dogs even if they already have one at home. “Dog content is popular because almost everyone loves dogs, has dogs, and can relate to other people who post about their dogs! Two out of every three American households have dogs, so dogs are always relevant!”
Naturally, despite the popularity of dogs, some people still hold on to outdated beliefs on how dogs act. “There are so many misconceptions about dog behavior! Not all wagging tails are happy, for example. A wagging tail indicates some sort of excitement, but not always happiness. Body language, in general, is often overlooked, when in all reality it is the best indicator of what a dog is feeling and thinking.”
“Dog body language communicates so much! A side eye, lip-licking, or pursed lips, can communicate discomfort in a situation. A dropped tail or ears dropped back, could communicate anxiety or a lack of ease. Wide-mouth panting may just mean your dog is hot and cooling herself, but also communicates comfort and ease.”
“A dog rolling on their back to show their tummy shows submissiveness but also communicates an incredible degree of comfort in their surroundings. When a dog communicates discomfort or a lack of ease, humans should take note of the settings and either help their dog through it, or adjust to prevent a larger problem, such as forcing a dog to feel like they have to flee or defend themselves.”
Or - Next generation pet lovers are giving problems to Pedigree, Royal Canin, Whiskas garbage like pet products. :D
Is Purina good? I don't have any fur babies (my crab doesn't count), but I'm just wondering.
Purina makes food for all financial abilities. It is, however, owned by Nestle.

"Dog moms" are absolutely some of the most toxic people I've had the misfortune to interact with. If they're raw feeders, they're often more militant than the most annoying vegan. They stalk rehoming pages on Facebook and bully anyone who is trying to rehome their animals, calling them the most terrible things. There was a case a couple of weeks ago where dozens of women were piling on to someone who was just trying to do the right thing and find a good place for their dog - it turned out that she had several children and had just been diagnose with a particularly nasty cancer.
Load More Replies...I will feed any animal that's in my care with whatever is recommended by a vet. I also treat any animal as though it's my "first born". Why? Because animals do feel pain. I'm not a Vegan btw because I need to eat red meat occasionally due to my iron levels. I was anaemic, was on iron tablets and I still need iron to stay healthy and not have my hair fall out in clumps again. My iron levels have since gone up. Skitty the Rescue Kitty was similar, I'd phoned a vets for advice and she went from very skinny to a glossy fur, healthy kitty within a few weeks with Whiskas wet food, dry food always available and obviously water too. She liked a certain Whiskas wet food. So I bought that from then on. As long as she ate and was gaining weight? Who cares?
Agree, SBB... We feed our cat, food recommended by the vet. And she is thriving. And occasional treats of meat or fish that we eat - though she prefers them cooked on the pan (without oil or any condiments). That said, she is also an indoor-outdoor cat with her own cat door, so she also treats herself to mice that she hunts. (And before people start pouncing on me for letting her out, we live in a country in Northern Europe where there are no natural predators for cats and it is actually recommended by vets and animal shelters that we have them as indoor-outdoor cats.)
Load More Replies...I agree. Have you ever read the ingredient list on dog/cat food? If you haven't, always look at the top ingredient. Ingredients are listed by how much of that ingredient is in the animal food. Watch out for fillers and preservatives/chemicals. Remember cats are carnivores (they do meat) and dogs are omnivores (they will eat everything).
Too many people in the world anyway and you wouldn't give your baby c**p food.
Best if You Purchase Meats for Humans and MAke your OWn Dog Food for Your BABIES!! Nobody Knows what They Start with for Tinned Dog Foods but my Brother Swears it is an Old Delapitated Pair of WORK BOOTS Leather!!
“Freeze, Fight, and Flight are instinctual responses to our surroundings, and dogs’ behavior and reactions are driven by their instincts and their understanding of the world around them. Becoming more in tune with our dogs’ body language can maximize our ability to lead a happy life with our dog!”
““You can’t teach an old dog new tricks,” is an old saying, but many people falsely believe that their dog is “too old” for training. If your dog is healthy enough to train, your dog is able to learn. Dogs enjoy the engagement with their family, and the mental stimulation is beneficial for dogs of all ages!”
““It’s all in how you raise them,” is another common and dangerous misconception. This is a statement in regards to nature vs. nurture. While environmental factors absolutely play a significant role in a dog’s behavior, genetics can not, and should not be disregarded,” she shared with Bored Panda.
I read somewhere that the reason pets have short lifespans is so we get to love and welcome more pets into our hearts. It's kinda mushy but also sweet.
“We do not always get to know about a dog’s immediate family tree, but there are general breed characteristics that should be considered when examining a dog’s behavior.” If you want to see more, be sure to check out their website and Facebook page.
Wait ... you want to devote bp completely to DOGS ????? Ohh, i'm in .... Ohh yeah, i'm in ....
Load More Replies...My cocker spaniel was one of those, "oh, putting shoes on? we go out now?" dogs. After he died it was sad putting on shoes without him bouncing around.
My future includes 3 dogs, a small white stone house with lemon trees, close to some water. And my husband if he’s not busy. There’s nothing I want more than another dog but my current life won’t allow me :-/
It's a slippery slope. You add one more and it's so great so you keep adding one more...and it stays great but it gets expensive. I currently have 5. I always want more.
Load More Replies...No, that would be if you spend time being a miserable c*nt online.
