Julie Hrudová, born in 1988 in the historic city of Prague, has since established herself in Amsterdam, The Netherlands, where she immerses herself in the world of photography.

With a portfolio that has graced various publications, her talent has not only garnered attention locally but has also been showcased in exhibitions on an international level. Her collaboration with the Amsterdam-based newspaper, Het Parool, between 2020 and 2021, culminated in a captivating series of weekly street photos. This endeavor led to the publication of her book, "Chasing Amsterdam," which garnered critical acclaim and was hailed as one of the best photo books of 2022 by the Dutch newspaper, de Volkskrant.

In Julie's words, her inspiration to keep photographing is the chance to capture the "Daily life and the (potential) strangeness of everyday life. As a photographer, I’m trying to translate regular situations into my own interpretation of it, a new kind of situation."

Curiosity about her proficiency led to the question, "How do you manage to get street photography so good?" to which she humbly responded, "Not sure if it's so good. But practicing helps."

Delving into her routine, the Bored Panda asked the photographer, "How often do you go out on the streets to photograph?" Julie replied, "I always carry a camera with me. Between 2020 and 2021, I had a weekly photo section in an Amsterdam newspaper, so I was roaming the streets a few days a week. Now I hunt a bit less."

In recognition of her achievements, we asked her, "Have you ever had an exhibition or a book?" Hrudová acknowledged both successes, stating, "Yes and yes. The book, 'Chasing Amsterdam,' consists of the weekly newspaper series. It's sold out."

Lastly, when asked about her educational background, "Did you study to become the professional you are today?" she revealed, "Not really. I studied Film and Photography, more theory than practice."

i never understood people who go for a swim in the Amsterdam canals. If you only just once saw the garbage boats dragging up all the c**p from the water, you would never ever.

Apparently the plastic bag IS a toy. /s I also don't get why some people are downvoting this photo other than "Hur Der! dangerous toy". For me, this photo brings back memories of places I have visited where people were just getting by. Kids using anything as a toy. I've seen crumpled up water bottle and a stick for 'baseball' and a motorbike innertube wadded up as a catch ball. the horrific electrical wiring, the tanks for storing water when they can get it because sometimes they can't. The buildings in poor repair. The bars on the windows because desperate people do desperate things. I have seen all of that a number of times. Also, shout out to the that white plastic chair in the background. I am amazed at how many countries I have seen what appears to be that same model of chair. The plastic mold must be severely overworked by now. haha.
