With mainstream media primarily highlighting unpleasant events worldwide, it’s always refreshing to hear about acts of kindness towards another human being. Sadly, these behaviors don’t get as much attention as they should.

Thankfully, the Chaotic Good subreddit is changing that. This online group shares good intentions manifested through unorthodox methods, to say the least.

Here, you’ll see people stealing to provide for someone who can’t afford groceries, passing gas alongside someone so they won’t feel embarrassed, and drunkenly painting a crosswalk on a dangerous street.

Scroll through and have a few feel-good moments today. Hopefully, this list will show you that despite all the negativity, there is still some good in this world.

I'm a big guy. I buy nice clothes, but sometimes they don't fit, or I don't like them after I order them. You know what I do? I donate them. I was really, really poor for years, and it was very difficult to find clothes in my size at thrift stores and clothing rooms. So it's my way of helping out other dudes who may be big and poor and want to look nice. I also donate shoes and cologne sometimes. I was blessed when I needed help so I pay it forward.

I volunteer at a food bank from time to time, and people sometimes drive up in nice-looking cars or SUVs. I don't judge. Maybe they. bought those vehicles before they got into financial straits, or maybe the owner of the car is picking up food boxes for someone who doesn't have a car.

You're one really bad year from being in the same place. If that moment comes you won't be throwing out you cloths just to fit the ideals of others.

Heck yeah Jenni! I specifically donated my old work clothes were in real nice condition for less fortunate people to be able to have, since now I work where I can wear t-shirts and jeans. I wasn't always as well off as I am now, and passing kindness on to strangers is one way I thank those that showed kindness to me when I needed it.

I'm a retired RN , and right now I need extra help due to stage 4 breast cancer that has pretty much spread throughout my body. Sometimes ( I use a walker) but my clothes are not rags either, and sometimes at the grocery store I feel like I'm being watched or judged.

Been homeless. You preserve your "nicer" clothes with every ounce of energy you've got for job interviews and the workplace. And yes, sometimes we shop for food on our way to/from these dress-nice occasions.

Ronald Reagan was very instrumental in the US for shaming people who are getting help, he invented the welfare queen stories portraying black women as lazy a*s cheaters reproducing just to get free food, vilifying anyone who took aid. He did so much to damage and cause rifts in USA than anyone had done to date. His lies still permeate society today

Thanks to donations I was able to wear good quality and even name brand clothes when I was homeless. And yes, I panhandled or (spanged) for a couple years. I began my journey to recovery from chronic homelessness in 2015 and have experienced some home insecurity, but kept a roof over my head. Today I have a secure permanent home and some of the clothes I acquired in those street years. It was the small gestures and kindness of strangers that impacted my life enough to change. God wants us to care for each other. Even those who don't deserve it at the time. It is not for us to judge or assume we know. I was a wonderful woman who did terrible things to survive.

It's funny how people batch about someone getting help with food. The U.S. government gives welfare [subsidies] to farmers big oil and anyone who gets funding for college. But no one complains about it.

I left my husband and moved to a tough neighborhood in DC. There wasn't enough room for my things. I handed out the extras to neighbors. One woman told me someone tried to buy the handbag I gave for $20. She said she knew i had nice things and it was worth more than $20! She proudly refused! She said it felt awesome. Medical clinics for the poor don't have any reading material. I gave my old magazines and some paperback books. They said people were excited to share with family and friends. Everything was gone in a day. How many people benefited? Lots. Old magazines. Things we don't want/need anymore make a difference to others. Try to find new homes for your old things.

When I was young and very poor, I used to get clothes at goodwill or salvation army or the 2nd hand store. I could sometimes find GOOD used clothes, much better quality than if I bought new. I bought a green pinstripe 3-piece wool suit that I wore for many years. I was so sad when it finally gave up.

Can't emphasis this enough. Most of the clothing I've purchased over the years at thrift shops were high-quality, designer fashions, far too expensive for my budget had I purchased them at retail stores. Not saying there isn't fraud with SNAP and other federal welfare benefits, but don't base it on appearance.

My nice wore brand-name, high quality clothes through high school. Not because we could afford them, but because I had a lovely coworker in her 20's who was the same size & very trendy, and she constantly gave my niece clothes...and shoes, purses, etc.... that she "was tired of" or "they didn't fit" or etc. She understood how hard it was to be a poor girl in high school & wanted to help.

I've had some carers in the past tell me that I have a lot of clothes. I have a small double wardrobe and a chest of drawers with some empty drawers in them. Many of my clothes are over a decade old. Some are three decades old. I repair them. I dye them. They were all second hand in the first place. I don't have holidays or breaks or eat out or get take aways. It's Also none of their bloody business 😠

But when you follow them out of the store, or over to where they parked before they started panhandling, and they drive away in a better car than you own, it’s a good bet they are ripping stupid people off. Why don’t YOU refrain from making the judgement that others have not done their homework and know what they are talking about.

Many years ago, I read a booklet on New England frugality- a young boy asked his mother why a man was wearing fancy business attire to do a dirty job like digging for clams- the mother explained that the man had lost virtually everything in the market crash that led to the Great Depression, and those fancy suits were literally the only clothes he had to wear...

I have a couple outfits which are of brand name. My mom buys designer items on super sale and sends to my kids. Like heavy coats, shoes, holiday dresses etc. I try to donate all extra nice or brand named clothes direct to shelters. I hate the thought of a some thrift store/op shop putting a huge markup on it. Sometimes we need something that makes us feel nice, especially those who are super down on their luck. In writing this I feel I should donate more brand new items this year.

While it may sometimes feel like there is too much hate going around, kindness is an innate human trait. As University of Oxford researcher Dr. Oliver Scott Curry explained in an interview with CBS, it’s because “we are social animals.”

University of London psychologist Anat Bardi provided some survey results to the publication. According to the findings, people valued benevolence or kindness the most, edging out hedonism, creativity, ambition, seeking power, and having an exciting life.

Acts of kindness are also reasonably common, even if people don’t feel that way most of the time. In 2021, the BBC launched a “Kindness Test,” which more than 60,000 people from 144 countries joined, making it the world’s largest psychological study on the topic.

Survey results showed that 16% of people had received an act of kindness within the hour prior. 43% claimed they had experienced it within the previous day.

However, the Kindness Test revealed the barriers that hinder people from showing goodwill toward others. Some are apprehensive about the possibility of embarrassment or rejection.

Personality may also play a role. The test revealed that the kindest people scored high on “agreeableness,” extroversion, and openness. This could mean that outgoing people are likely less concerned about rejection, making them more likely to buy a warm meal for someone in need, for example.

Those who aren’t as automatically willing to commit an act of kindness are also likely plagued by “miscalibrated expectations.” Amit Kumar, an assistant professor at The University of Texas at Austin, conducted a study in 2022 where 75 out of 84 participants gave a cup of hot chocolate to a stranger.

The research participants also underestimated the significance of their act, expecting the recipients’ moods to be an average of 2.7 out of 5. However, the recipients reported feeling much better, with a 3.5 out of 5 mood.

“The fact that you’re being nice to others adds a lot of value beyond whatever the thing is,” Kumar told Technology Networks.

When I was at school the bus stop where I and a school mate caught the morning bus was suspended due to road works and temporarily replaced with a sign on a concrete block. Coming back from school one day we moved the temporary sign about 100 yards down the road so we didn't have to walk so far in the morning. When the works were finished they reinstated the bus stop WHERE WE HAD MOVED IT TO! It's still in the same spot decades later. I went on to become a Civil Engineer, designing and building roads!

What makes an act of kindness more meaningful is that it comes from the heart, no matter how small. And you may not realize how helpful these gestures can be.

One blood donation, for example, can help save up to three lives. Giving a random stranger a few genuine words of encouragement can help turn their day around in a massive way.

Standing Up For An Older Fellow

Standing Up For An Older Fellow

"Recently went camping at a very busy RV park. Our camper didn't have a toilet or shower, so we were reliant on the bathroom on site. The first night we were there I met a super cool older fellow that had some stomach issues (who didn't have his own restroom either). He was frantically trying to get the door open, but the keypad entry was broken. Thankfully I had my pocket knife and jimmied the door for him.
After I took a nice shower I rode my bike to find maintenance to repair the door. The gentleman couldn't get the door open themselves and swore they would fix it.
Later that evening the door was still broken. So, to help my little buddy out, I taped the latch so he could get in as he needed (frequently). I wrote on the tape, as not to ruin the door, "please don't remove the tape, some of us rely on this restroom". You can see the residue of the tape still left from their shoddy removal.
Next morning the tape was gone and the lock still broken. At that point, it was apparent that they didn't care about the people camping there, so I removed the broken handle, and deposited the parts in six cans across the campground.
Needless to say the next day the doorknob was replaced with a functional unit and the marker removed. The older fellow was so happy he gave me some limes his daughter grew. Made a hell of a beverage later that day."

"Moms for Liberty" is a Republican Conservative organization that started as a group fighting against COVID prevention measures, and later expanded their scope into campaigning against LGBT rights, racial equality, inclusion initiatives, vaccine mandates, freedom of religion and education. They have been proven to have financial ties with the republican parties and the "Proud Boys" neofascist organization. They themselves have been branded an "extremist far-right organization" by several independent advisory groups, and their methods include astroturfing campaigns, direct harassment of teachers and public servants, legal and personal threats, bounties to encourage violence or further harassing of teachers and even openly encouraging shooting liberal teachers.
