Woman Continues To Hilariously Recreate Celebrity Instagram Photos, And The Result Is Better Than The Original (New Pics)
Actor. Comedian. Writer. There are many ways that you could describe the multi-talented Australian phenomenon that is Celeste Barber. But we think that ‘bloody hilarious’ fits the bill just right.
A force of nature on social media, the “Australian Queen of Comedy” boasts over 7.6 million followers on Instagram and 3 million followers on Facebook. Not just because of her talents as an actress but mainly because of her hilarious parodies of other celebrities. Check out some of Celeste’s newest parody pics below and give the ones that got you to grin a big ol’ upvote. The actor/comedian puts her own awkward spin on glamorous and elegant celebrity photos. And it seems like no star has been beyond the reach of her desire to parody their pics since 2015 when she started going viral.
Celeste’s parodies actually uncovered the double standards that pervade social media. For example in October 2020, Instagram claimed that her semi-nude recreation of Candace Swanepoel’s photo supposedly violated the community guidelines. Meanwhile, the model’s photo was freely shareable, unlike Celeste’s.
After being called out, Instagram apologized and said that the restriction on her post had been an error that they fixed.
Celeste achieved quite a lot last year. Bloomberg writes that the Facebook fundraiser that she started up back in January 2020 eventually brought in over 37 million dollars for Australian wildfire aid. She used her massive influence on social media to convince people to donate.
In case you’ve forgotten, the 2019-2020 Australian bushfire season was particularly devastating. The fires burned up 18.6 million hectares (that’s 186k square kilometers or 72k square miles) of land. Almost 3 billion terrestrial vertebrates, most of them reptiles, lost their lives. Over 5.9k buildings were destroyed and at least 34 people lost their lives. So every single donation made a difference.

If I remember rightly there was a bit of an uproar regarding these photos. Whilst the first image was allowed on Facebook, Celeste’s photo was taken down and banned. There was a discussion on how slim "beautiful" women are allowed to show their body but if someone is a little on the “bigger” side (not that Celeste is big) or doesn’t meet the ideal beauty standards then they are not allowed to.

That makes me absolutely pissed off women are beautiful no matter what they look like! I myself am on the larger side for my age and I still think im beautiful! I think that there are some women that are on the "bigger side" yet have prettier hair, nails, muscles, better everything than skinny people.

Hearing about how Celeste’s photo was taken down is really upsetting. 1. Celeste is beautiful just how she is. So are the other women but telling people who aren’t sticks that they can’t show their body is horrible. 2. I’m not trying to spread hate but some of the women in the original photos where they are allowed to show their bodies actually look unhealthy. Being so thin that your spine sticks out is not healthy. While obesity is harmful to health, so is being nothing but skin and bones. We cannot pick and chose which extreme and which is bad and which is good because that’s not how it works. This kind of thinking is unhelpful and hurtful and it causes so many problems. Please everyone take care of yourself. Know that you are beautiful and worthy no matter who you are or how you look.

Well. This is a losing proposition at trying to clarify what I now know better than having anything to say until I check the time zones, tides, apparently be the only person awake besides maybe a dozen others who responded to a post made by one of the few people who is awake as well. I'm just going to let this one go as one big faux pas that only gets worse by trying to explain. So my bad. The only one that really matters as far as my comments not being seen negatively is the woman who I hope understands I get her sense of humor and appreciate her expressing them. It says a lot about her. And I'll leave it there for interpretation.

Most comments won’t start coming for another few hours because of the time changes across the world. I am in Aus and at the moment the Bored Panda articles get posted at around 5:30pm (SA daylight savings time). In most countries (not all) it gets posted when they are sleeping.
