There’s an ongoing debate whether cats are smarter than dogs or not. One thing is for sure, they’re more ruthless when it comes to territory and a dog bed looks no different than a luxury cat bed in the eyes of some felines. People have noticed this weird side of cat behavior too and it’s kicked off the r/stolendogbeds subreddit.
Pushed out of their spot, it also results in some strange dog sleeping positions as they just don’t know how to handle it. Now you understand why Wolfie has taken the laundry basket as his new bed. Both hilarious and purrfectly evil, Bored Panda has compiled a list full of these little thieves that are the “pet peeve” for these poor pooches.
After you’re done with this post, take a look at our previous list with 119 cats stealing dog beds. It goes to show that cats have never heard of letting sleeping dogs lie.

I Was Able To Capture The Raw Anguish He Felt After Losing His Bed To The Void
All dog owners in this thread are doing it wrong. Cats aren't team players. So, you'll have to buy an equal amount of _dog_ beds as you have pets.
My Stupid Cat Recently Discovered The Dog Bed
Bored Panda contacted Molly DeVoss, a feline training and behavior specialist at Cat Behavior Solutions, to find out more about the reason why cats love stealing dog beds. Molly explained that often it’s because cats are trying to layer scents with the dog to build a community scent at home. “Your home is their territory, and they feel more comfortable in places that smell like them,” said Molly.
I still wonder how it happens that cats always get what they want, both from humans and other animals in the household. Molly explained that “they’re very good at training us.” For example, “They knock things off the nightstand to wake us—because we typically feed them to stop the behavior.” Another example is when “they jump up on things because we pick them up” or “meow and get us to talk back.” In fact, “cats are very observant and have great understanding of how to get a reaction from their caretakers.”
Nope, Not Today

Gotta keep that butt warm if you're to keep your appointment of waking up your owner (I mean slave) by sitting on their eyes at five in the morning.
Got New Dog Beds. I Should Have Got Them Some Courage
Dogs tend to submit to cats because canines evolved with a “social hierarchy and rely on rank and order within the other members of the household to feel secure,” said Molly. Meanwhile, a cat “has evolved as a solitary species and doesn’t have a social structure per se.” In other words, Molly says, “cat is always a boss.”
Nevertheless, dogs and cats usually work out a livable agreement. Molly suggests, before considering adding a cat to the household, researching your dog breed. Also, it’s wise to do introductions slowly. “Cats have a very long memory and may always fear the dog” if there’s a single frightening incident when they meet.

Technically They Are Sharing, But The Smug Cat Gets The Lion's Share
Buy every pet a bed in the size that fits the biggest dog. You won't have any floor space left, but at least the doggos won't look at you with those sad eyes.
I thought the same buy at least two dog beds. Or a dog bed for the cat, not those tiny ones
Load More Replies...To be fair: We humans don't allow our dogs to attack the cats - and they know that. So what are they suppsoed to do other than ask us for help? As funny as I find some of these pics, I would have shooed the cats out of the older dogs beds, at least.
Scientific test: say you have one cat and one dog.You buy two beds of the same size, large enough to fit the dog. In the first few days you let them pick. If they do, will the cat try and steal the dog bed when the dog's out of the room for a walk, or will they keep their bed? I'm curious whether there's some sort of evolutionary thing that makes them feel dominant over the canine's scent or soemthing.
it's not stealing. Cats have the instinct to make everything smell like them b/c that makes everything smell like home. So, they have to put their smell back on the dog items(and us) every day.
Load More Replies...Good to see that all these dogs know their place in the hierarchy.
The wise are smart enough not share their household with an a*****e... a 7 letter word for cat.
Load More Replies...cats aren't nearly as solitary as most people seem to think. there's a reason feral and semi-ferals form colonies; if you're not an apex predator, there's strength in numbers, more eyes and ears to alert for threats, and more adults to help care for young. in domestic situations many cats do prefer to keep to themselves, but just as many bond very closely with their humans and other animals. i think most of these cats are just asserting dominance and demonstrating that they won't put up with any nonsense from the dogs.
I know im going to get a lot of hate for doing this but... its my friends birthday. she has a dog who feels the struggle. can you check out her latest vid pls? downvote if u want to idc https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tDuZXD-MpgM (just paste link onto whatever and tap it)
Why do you have to call the cats "jerks"? Cat just wants the most comfortable bed, just like the dog does.
I thought this post would put my mood up,but after all those sad eyes it's not possible.
One way to solve this issue is to hang a cat's bed up on a high perch. Cats will naturally go to the highest point as it's the safest spot for them. Dogs have no choice but to be at ground level. Also see the post here on Bored Panda about the Ikea Doll Beds that cat's seem to be going crazy for. It might be another solution to help the dogs reclaim their beds.
That has to be one bad a*s cat if the dogs didn't do sh*t to get their bed back.
Nah it's pretty normal. Dogs like rules, cats don't care.
Load More Replies..........because that's just what they are: "jerks" of worse, "A******s" .
