Cats make, hands down, the most entertaining content on the internet. And how couldn’t they? (I look at the furball at my side.)
These creatures are nature’s little goofs and weirdos with some of the biggest mysteries known to hoomans—cat logic. It has become a meme in itself, inspiring an infinite flow of cat posts surfing around on the world wide web, making us crack up on the way.
So this time, we are diving into a goldmine of cat posts called “Meow_IRL,” which is a corner of Reddit sharing all kinds of cat and kitten-related stuff. From cat pics to cat jokes and cat memes, let’s call it a treat for any feline lover out there.

To find out more about this miscellaneous subreddit for feline aficionados, Bored Panda reached out to the moderator team behind r/MEOW_IRL. They told us that this subreddit was created by popular redditor u/AttackTheMoon in 2015. “It was created as a cat version of r/me_irl back when both subreddits were small,” they added.
Today, the subreddit gets about 30 posts a day, so the community is quite active. And how couldn’t it be, with so many funny cat posts being shared here on a daily basis? But what is it exactly about cats that makes them almost universally funny? Well, the moderators believe that it has to do with their faces, that are “capable of a lot of expression, and they line up with the expressions we make when we feel the same way.”
Moreover, “you can say a lot with just big eyes.” Another reason for how they conquered the internet, according to the moderators, comes down to the fact that “cats are also never acting, so pictures of them also communicate something that is genuinely felt.”
What did that vet just say? Nope I ain't gonna move, I'm sittin on 'em and keepin 'em!
Funny cats rule the internet and there are no questions asked. They never fail to crack us up, and hey, who doesn’t appreciate a good cat pic, meme or pun? So cats take the biggest part of the internet’s cake, and no dogs, you may wonder? Well, dogs may be trying just a little too hard.
You see, the endearing appeal of felines is that they’re fundamentally unpredictable, very jumpy, often goofy and have these weird instinct-driven behaviors. Moreover, it’s no secret that cat owners around the world enjoy photographing and taking videos of their little friends, making some of the most watched content on the internet. No wonder that ThoughtCatalog has described cats as the "unofficial mascot of the internet"—it really lives up to its name.
Meanwhile, the viral expert Matt Smith, co-founder of the Viral Factory, has another interesting theory that could be an answer to the internet's obsession with all things cats. He believes it is partly because cats are so acrobatic: “Properly nourished cats and kittens love to jump and play around, and so, on a basic level, they are very entertaining to watch. They climb and balance and perform amazing feats. We are mesmerized by their agility.”
Combining their natural acrobatics (jumping through the room in the middle of night like Space X’s rocket, anyone?!) with boldness and fun-loving nature, cats are just hard to look away from. While investigating their environment, there’s a great chance they will come up with something that will make us all crack up laughing.
Accurate. My partner keeps saying we need a bigger bed. Our pets (small dog and cat) sprawl out and take at least half the bed themselves. We just need to retake square footage from the floofs.
Well! I have seen some furry toilet seat covers but this is just marvelous!
Neighbor: "Okay, I was tolerant with the drums, but why does it sound like you've got a tonedeaf cat providing your voca--oh. I see. Sorry for interrupting you during practice. Carry on, then!"
Please not a step closer - remove your shoes before entering please!
"And what I said was, 'I puked all over the back seat. When are you going to clean it up?'"
I love that there was already a "catoncampus" account so they had to make "catoncampus1"
Top pic: My cat when I'm begging them to please let me sit down... BOttom pic: My cat when a treat bag is opened by a neighbor three houses down the road....
I shall kick the living s**t out of this ball just because I want to!
Not kissing her on the forehead so she doesn't bite my nose in retaliation.
Isn't it because their whiskers are delicate and they don't want them to touch the bowl?
If you don't put me down this instant I will scrat - oh hello Officer!
Not one little piece she would not give me. I shall obstruct her ascent to the upper level - so there!
Love the picture ***I interrupt this comment for a brief public service announcement (I am guessing the string piece is meant to be a lasso, but please remove all string from the cats reach. I worked in a veterinary hospital for a bit and swallowing string can cause serious internal issues which can lead to death or expensive surgery). Ok, back to the regularly scheduled program.
Same for me except it's school not work. I have had breakdowns because of school before.
Cat: "If you're going to do this, hooman, couldn't you at least have chosen the far superior animated version as a background?"
😻Sometimes I feel like cats are an Advanced Alien Species👽 sent here to study us and decide when we're civilized enough to join the Interstellar Community💫 (And the Platypus is one of their Science Experiments.)
I love this! My one cat does this thing where she sits at a distance and observes me, tilting her head in different directions and looking like she's really contemplating my behavior. My husband and I always joke that she's doing ethnographic field observations on us
