How Bosses Can Earn or Lose the Respect of Their Co-Workers?
What’s the difference between a good and a bad boss? Well, usually, the way they make their employees feel. Even though employers don't have to be liked by their employees, it is important to set up staff members for success and to support them in their work. According to The Balance Careers, those who repeatedly fail to do this will lose the respect of their employees and might even become disliked as people.
Bosses should be honest with themselves about their skills and their confidence. If they’re unsure of themselves, faking it is the worst way of going about it. employees will know, and they won't be willing to look to them for guidance. And the more they try to fool them, the bigger the resentment.
However, if bosses feel like they’re in over their heads, they can win the respect of their staff by confronting the shortcomings and making them a part of the solution. Seeking help from the employees who may have knowledge, experience, or insight that the bosses themselves lack is the way to go.

Ordinary Tuesday Work Meme
when i just started working as a cleaner, one day I was a bit late done with work. I was still in the building, but already had my coat on when someone came running to me in panic: a guest threw up and no one wanted to clean it up. I could have said "nope I'm gone" but didnt, and found a whole circle of people around the mess, and the poor woman sick as a dog and crying of shame. I was so pissed off (not at her) I cleaned it up rapidly without blinking an eye while everyone just stared. The next week, xmas gifts were given out, and I got an envelope with a 150 euro gift voucher in it. The person who handed me the envelop told me this was the first time ever that the cleaning woman got a voucher too. Apparently I impressed everyone with cleaning up someones puke in my own time, without complaining or blinking an eye :-D
How to Avoid Being a Bad Boss and Losing Your Employees’ Trust
Employees recognize when a boss is simply using them to make themselves look better or to further their own professional goals. They will be especially resentful if they are blamed for making their boss look bad. Everybody should have a role and know that role. To put it simply, it should be about the department or the company as a whole meeting a goal rather than the leader taking them there. To regain the respect of employees, a boss has to make sure everyone’s role is defined and that they all have an opportunity to share in the team’s success.
And even the most humble managers can incorrectly assess how much managing an employee needs. If they micromanage and nitpick their ideas and work, they will never tap into their discretionary energy or the best they have to offer.
Of course, this doesn't mean that employees in training and employees who change their positions or acquire new responsibilities are OK without guidance. But, if leaders aren't guiding them to lessen their own involvement, there’s a problem. Micromanaging good and productive employees is the easiest way to demotivate them.

Boss Be Like
This legit happened to me. Heavy downpour that flooded the parking lot outside my apartment,, the water had risen over all the cars and was on the porch coming through the doorway and flooding the downstairs apartments. I called my boss and told him what was going on. He said "you can't walk?" I said "it's at least 6 ft of water and I'm 5'4 and I'm not swimming to work for $7/hour."

I had a boss like this. He told my mother how inconvenient it was for him that I missed work due to needing my infected impacted wisdom too pulled out. I quit the week after.
Called to speak directly to my boss about my week-long absence on the third day of said absence. I let her know that I would be heading to the ER after we got off the phone. Stupid me was expecting the appropriate so sorry, feel better fast. Nope. I got my a*s reamed out over the phone that I simply couldn't have an unplanned absence, let alone one so long and she had people in her office crying because I wasn't there to get my part of their project done and how inconvenient it was for her that I wasn't there. Btw, the people in her office were more concerned about me and were certainly not crying. My time there was longer than it should have been, but there was a recession and jobs in my field were hard to find. I ended up giving up the search and went back to school and changed careers.
the local waffle restaurant here in Baytown insists workers show up no matter what...This includes during Hurricane Ike when 3 million people from Harris County evacuated; this includes the 2017 Hurricane Harvey disaster when it rained 44" in a day followed by 56" the next day with interstate highways flooded and houses full of muddy water up to the second floor... I didn't know waffles were more important than life itself or the safety of their workers. All of that to service the needs of a dozen customers who needed waffles. Go figure.
Fun Fact: The Waffle House is actually used as a way to gauge how bad a storm is. If The Waffle House is closed, the storm was extremely bad. If they're operating but not at full capacity, the storm was bad. If they're fully operational, the storm was just so-so. Bizarre but true.
Load More Replies...If a storm is coming your way and the “waffle place” closes you better get your a** out of town quick. I believe they only close if the grim reaper himself shows up. I must say the scary ride driving under fallen trees and power lines smacking against the car totally worth it. It was the best damn waffle I’d ever eaten!
There was a restaurant owner that tried to do that here too. Told the waitstaff and cooks they had to work through the hurricane. I worked down a few doors from the place and I went down to the location with a video camera and said that my lawyer buddy would be really pleased to know they'd be open since he's always wanted to see a restaurant change hands from it's owner to it's employees. He got the message and closed the place. It was a good thing too because the restaurant flooded and a tree struck the building causing the roof to collapse in.
I don't understand... Please tell me these are just humorous and not depicting of a reality? God I NEVER shut up or suffered an injustice without fighting back, and I REALLY couldn't care less if I got late to work, bc issues and difficulties happen. And so what, I'd be fired? Wow, big deal. I'd find a new job quick quick. Even now that I have personal responsibilities, I've never changed my mind. A job is just NEVER going to f**k up my personal life. When I became a manager (yeah 'cause even though I'm more on the chilled side, I'm actually good at what I do), I also applied these principles to my colleagues. Need to leave early? Please do. No questions asked. Need to WFH? Got it. Y'a gonna be late? I get it, the RER B is a mess, always late mate. That actually motivates the team to work even more efficiently, bc they're not under pressure. And they're happy. As I was when I TOOK these rights. Leaders in industries need us, we don't need them.

You know that not everyone can just choose to do their dream jobs right? Sometimes you have to take the job you can get in order to keep paying rent and putting food on the table, you can't afford to be picky when you're poor.
