This Online Group Is Dedicated To Collecting Makeup Fails, And Here Are 50 Of The Worst Ones (New Pics)
It's no secret that applying makeup can be quite a task. Maybe you're lacking experience or using bad beauty products; you can make a ton of mistakes before getting everything right. So when the time comes and we have to look the part, we turn to the pros and hope they'll make us look special. But believe it or not, they also make mistakes.
There's even a whole subreddit dedicated to it. It's called Bad MakeUp Artists and the posts in there range from mismatched foundation and aggressive contouring to caterpillar eyebrows. Who knew you can do such a terrible job and still get paid!
Scroll down through the hilarious list of worst makeup examples and be sure to check out part 1 of this post!

A friendly reminder for makeup artists: just because you do it well on yourself, does not make you a pro. It actually takes time and continuous learning, not just a couple of YouTube tutorials. So if you're afraid that your work can someday end up being posted in r/BadMUAs, there's a few ways to improve your skills.
The most obvious tip would be practice, practice and... practice some more. According to Simone Ciafardini, Make Up For Ever's vice president of education and artistry, "Learning from professionals is important to becoming a truly great artist, but making practice part of your everyday routine is also critical." So figuring out different styles and approaches of previous makeup masters is also an important part of learning.
Also, if you're serious about becoming a professional, you could consider getting a formal education or attending courses. In just a short time, it could prepare you for beauty, fashion, film, and other fields. But school is not for everyone, so finding a mentor and tagging along to their jobs is also an option.
I Cant Believe This Contour Is Done By A Professional Mua. I Feel Bad For The Bride
When it comes to artists who try working with different ethnicities, skin tones and textures, there's a disturbing lack of diversity. The beauty industry always has and still continues to fail people of color. Though makeup has become more inclusive within the last few years, some MUAs still can't figure how to pick the right shade of foundation.
Industry veteran Keanda (Keys) Rebelle told Forbes that “artists are not doing what they need to do to further their education”. Perfecting your skills can help build more inclusion in the field, since real artists should be able to do makeup on multiple ethnic groups.

Medium Rare Beef Lips
However, MUAs might not always be able to guess what you're thinking, so if you're not happy with the result, speak up! Daniel Martin, a professional makeup artist who has worked with clients ranging from Meghan Markle to Jessica Alba, said that as a client, you are entitled to politely request a redo. You should be honest with the artist and tell them directly what you think.

Yet, if you wish to avoid these awkward situations completely, Martin suggests bringing a photo of your desired look for reference and saying your dislikes beforehand. “At the end of the day, it’s only makeup and it can be fixed,” Martin says. “Unlike a bad haircut!”

That Eye Makeup Is Tough
If you were too polite to say anything about it, Martin gives a few tips on how to fix your makeup. “If you’re left with too much coverage on the skin and the finish on your face is too powdery, misting will break up the finish a bit,” he advised. A wet paper towel pressed onto your skin would also work.

Another thing, if your brow is overly done, you can split tissue paper into a single sheet, place it over your brow and use setting powder on top of it. And a great use of foundation is “to ‘clean up’ hard edges on the eyes when they’re too smoked out for your taste,” Daniel Martin said. Here's only a few tips and tricks that could help you save a bad look. If you want to know more, you can find them here.

So seeing how beauty treatments are trending these days, it looks like the demand for makeup artists won't be going down anywhere soon. The beauty industry is huge—$511 billion worth, to be exact. And since it's constantly expanding and attracting customers who are willing to pay even higher prices, it will keep on growing by almost 5% annually.

I don't wear makeup because no one ever taught me how to and I was a tomboy as a child, but I'd love to learn. Seeing posts like this really puts me off though. When you first start out, you're going to make mistakes and have bad makeup days, but then you might end up on a post like this with everybody mocking you. Why can't we just let people look as they wish? Clothes, hair, makeup, it should be your body, your choice, nobody else's business.
I have a few honest questions: what's with the yellow/green foundation - and, whoever thought that would be flattering? When did that start, anyway? I'm baffled.
I cannot stand this drag queen make up trend that is going on. Don't get me wrong... it works for drag queens because they are preforming and are an exaggerated version of women. I love it on them. But seriously..... this is why makeup companies like Sephora are thriving because women have to wear a pound of make up each day to achieve these looks and it doesn't look good!!! I stopped wearing make up about 10 years ago and have never looked back. I am 45 and am happy with my natural look. Hoping my daughters can feel the same about themselves too.
I think it's great when you can see right away that someone is crazy. Stealth crazy is the worst; I like to know right up front if I'm dealing with a lunatic. And this mua thing seems to be an effective way to communicate that.
This is a little cruel these ladies feel they are beautiful it is not up to us to put them down . This should be removed
Ruining their beauty with excessive makeup shows me this world's beauty standards consist of not just fake but in order to look "pretty/beautiful" we have to look like humanoids because none of those people look human in fact they look like some species trying to look human...what's going on?
Natural beauty is the best option, but not everyone is comfortable with that. Self-love is important. But I must say... I do wear makeup myself. It just makes me feel better about myself. I do try to keep it natural looking though. These are just so drastic.
Bored panda where you can get the same ppl screaming and yelling about expressing, anti bullying and inclusion also bashing strangers for makeup.
The individuals in the photos have been been brainwashed if they think they look better with all the makeup. Fresh clean skin, with a very thin layer of foundation to match their skin is enough. No one is fooled by all the contouring that looks Luke dirt.
#28 you can find the video of it on youtube... and I'm getting strong neapolitan ice cream vibes from #42.
Stuff of nightmares some of these. A few would have people running for the hills. If a professional make up artist did any of those, I think they need to reconsider their career choice.
I think most of these have to be tested scientifically: My hypothesis is, they will reduce number of insect bites --- like the stripes on zebras.
Can we just realize that it's nobody else's business what we want our faces to look like or how we like our makeup? If you want a clean face-do it. You want a natural look? Do it. You want red lips and a smokey eye? DO IT. You want to cake on your foundation, throw down a bright multicolored eyeshadow, over line your lips, have eyelashes so long they touch your eyebrows, throw down a straight up clown face then JUST. DO. IT. We all need to grow up honestly and not worry about what anyone else is choosing to do with their own faces. Thank you for coming to my Ted talk.
I honestly feel we should raise girls to aspire to so many positive qualities and not just beauty. We must raise them to become confident in their own skin and have conversations that encourage them to understand that beauty is diverse and subjective and we aren't dolls on a shelf trying to appeal to everyone we can in order to feel accomplished. Women don't have to be part of this rat race that pits them against each other to win brownie points for their exterior.
I get so happy when I see women made-up like this, cause I know the circus is in town.
Just a reminder that if you wear make-up, your skin will absorb the toxins every time. If you use way too much like these, you're going to look so much older than you are because of it.
Do any of these people look in the mirror before they go out??? The eyebrows- the nose contouring- the overlined lips- just be natural!!
I guess a thread making fun of people content with the way they look is a good thing on bp. I mean, lets mock all these people who appear to be happy with themselves. That's a proper thing, right?
What's interesting is that in the days of silent movies, the actors wore yellow makeup bc it photographed better in black and white film. Maybe this modern trend for yellowish foundation looks better in selfies, TikTok, etc.?
