It was only the first week of the new year, and I was already fed up and grumpy. I had a pile of paperwork to sort through, a backlog of work to get done and more than a few bills to pay. I was asked to stop everything and urgently draw a cute greeting card for a friend (as a favor... of course) and before I knew it I had drawn a grumpy duckling saying QUACK F***ING QUACK. The angry animal made me laugh out loud and I shared it online.

It quickly became apparent that these animal drawings were making a few other people smile too, and so a promise was made. No matter what else life would bring in 2020, I would set aside enough time each day to draw and post a daily grumpy animal. At the end of the year, I would have 366 animals in a bad mood to put in a hardback coffee table book and a smile on my face.

I'm only 17 days in yet the drawing idea seems to already be taking on a life of its own. Over 4000 people already check in every day to the @Beastflaps Instagram page to see what the daily silly animal will be, and I've shipped out dozens of grumpy pigs and cow t-shirts worldwide. It seems the animals in these funny drawings are only grumpy so that we don't have to be.
