You can't just pretend that racism isn't alive and well today. Black lives matter because they have been historically under represented in every aspect of our society. It came about to highlight the inequity in police brutality specifically against people of color such as George Floyd. It's used to show the discrimination that Black people still face to this day. Until every single person can have open, honest, and uncomfortable conversations with people who don't look like you, racism will always be there. We have to educate ourselves and not pretend it doesn't exist. We cannot do nothing, you must be an active ally against intolerance and hate of any kind.

Nobody said it was supposed to end racism. It is simply a call for LESS systemic killings of black people. But some people are trying to spin it so that they are the victims because they feel it is pointing out their racism. I agree equality is what we are aiming for in the long run.

I truly get what you're saying. Being biracial and coming from a multicultural family, I can embrace the "all lives matter" mentality, because I feel we should care for each other regardless of insignificant things like skin color (colour). As I mentioned before, the black lives matter movement is a reaction to years and years and years of being treated like "less than" solely because you are brown. It's simply a person of color saying "We are equals. I matter, too."

Sure. When in doubt, obscure all definition. Ignoring a problem is almost the same as solving it, right?

Let's assume this was anyone's dream, this grey world without color or culture. The first step to accomplishing this goal of yours, every person, regardless of their "human and people" skin color, would have to be treated equally, as humans. You see now? Cause that's not happening.

I disagree (in a way) with what Jp@nda said and agree with Insidia666. Yes, we cannot forget that Racism exists and neither what happened and is happening all over the world or in ones own country. BUT we can still be more inclusive. For example: in Germany, we do not ask about your skin color in forms and what not, whereas in the US they do. We do not call black people „Afro Germans“ or whatever either. If you are a German, you are a German. Simple as that. It does not matter what color your skin is. We treat everyone equal. Go watch some youtube videos on this topic by POCs living in Germany, if you do not believe me. Maybe stick to US expats, so you can see a comparison to their lives here and there.

I get where you are coming from, and that is actually the way I was raised too... But you'll never get most other peoples to see it that way. There is still racism, and sexists, and all other varied forms of bigotry. They do exist and we can't ignore them... That is not to say I don't get frustrated at some people who, in my opinion, take it so far as to SEEM like they are getting more than "equality". Some of my favorite of this overbearingly b****y group are some feminists I know. Equality is great, but sometimes it does strike me as an attempt to get more than just equal treatment. The BLM moment isn't one of those I don't think though. There is plenty of evidence that black people are killed by the police, and treated poorly in general by the legal system. Not that every black person ever arrested is innocent, but it's not cool that they should be afraid of law enforcement when they have done nothing wrong.
