Two Friends Of Different Races Can’t Stop Roasting Each Other On Twitter, Make People Question If It’s Racism Or Not

Each generation has or will experience events that cause division among us; perhaps it is human nature. As individuals, we decide how we choose to navigate our differences whether it is politics, gender, nationality or race. Social media has provided a platform for people to voice their thoughts and opinions on that which divides us. This can lead to hateful rhetoric, but when social media is used for good causes and funny jokes it can bring us together in the best ways.

Twitter users @TheParacelsus and @jmemc10 went viral when they chose to go a different route with their racism ‘opinions’ on social media. The two began throwing the best roasts at each other, filled with racial one-liners, but both saw the exchange as lighthearted comedy. Some Twitter users thought the one-line jokes were offensive and crossed the line of humor into racist, while others thought the punchlines showed a healing moment of two strangers bonding through humor. Bored Panda has the whole thread below along with the funny Twitter reactions. What do you think?

These are Twitter users Para and Jamie

Para recently tweeted this

And Jamie decided to respond

The chat quickly escalated into an epic roast battle

They finally ran out of ideas

But it all ended on a good note

Some people were quick to pull out the ‘racist’ card

Para later explained how it all started on Reddit

The first poster was "fact" and the other was just racist? It's like people think that if you make fun of white people because they're white it's not racist. I don't understand how people think that there is difference. Maybe it just comes down to the fact that the people who responded to that thread had a victim mentality.

the definition of racism does not specify who it can or can't apply to. anyone can be racist and both of them were being racist, but in a humorous way. It was a lighthearted, slightly inappropriate twitter war.

If a POC makes a stereotypical statement about a white person it's as equally bad as a white person making a stereotypical statement about a POC. It isn't right either way, but it's all about context. This convo was people being silly and throwing stereotypes back and forth to be silly. People need to lighten up.

I'm from Miami, and you see that kind of joking a lot more there, where everyone is from somewhere else, and you can't tell anyone's ethnicity by their color. It works when the power balance is fairly equal - as in among friends. However, I wouldn't try the same thing with a black friend living in a town full of racist rednecks or if I was a supervisor of a black employee. That would be punching down because the power balance would be different. It also doesn't work if you actually are racist - that's what makes so many racists mad.

I for one and sick and tired of people screaming IT'S RACIST all the time when often it's something silly like these two kids just teasing each other. Sure it may be crude to some but they were just being silly with each other. People have to stop being so delicate about some issues and take it at it's face value. Kids are always going to be sick and gross when it comes to their sense of humor because they are just kids. If you don't like it, move on they were not talking to you.

This isn't racist at all, they're just friends making each other laugh. My mum's black and my brother and I call her a spear chucker or a c**n all the time, she doesn't care at all. We obviously don't mean it maliciously, she's our mum. People really need to stop getting offended on behalf of the people who aren't offended. It seems to only be white people getting their knickers in a twist and immediately jumping to the defence of other races that don't need it.

It's like Superman's kryptonite. I understand Jamie, but he was a bit too hurtful. What I find funny is when they talk about their w*****s. Now I have to reconsider. Hmmmm. 😀

Let's be clear: anything you post publicly on the internet can, and will, be read by other people. Once you put a comment online you have no control over who reads it. I believe that these two gentlemen were having fun at each other’s expense and meant no harm. However, these comments could be interpreted as racist. For example, implying that people of colour live in impoverished circumstances is generalizing. These comments have the potential to insult some people, so to be polite they should have been made in a DM where they couldn’t be taken out of context.

So according to your logic your post offended me so you shouldn't have put it online. How about people stop thinking everything is about them and their own fragile sensibilities. We get it you are a good person but I know it is now necessary that you now let all of the interwebs know how enlightened you are as well.

Just two young guys talking sh1t. I was in the Navy for over twenty years and heard a lot of stuff like this. Some of it was hilarious; I wish I could remember some of it.

I laughed. Good-natured bantering. It's really very funny.

Not racist. It was mutual. That's how friends talk, they tease each other.

I find it relatable when Jamie gave up when it was mentioned he being lactose intolerant. I am, too.. I mean I am lactose intolerant. It is not funny having this allergy. It's like Superman's kryptonite. I understand Jamie, but he was a bit too hurtful. What I find funny is when they talk about their w*****s. Now I have to reconsider. Hmmmm. 😀

Awesome- that kinda is what tolerance and humor is about. Hats off to both! And yes white people keep your hats on and use sunscreen - we crack a lot sooner. we are crackers!!

Do the SJWs realize that guys joking around in intigrated military units during WW2 and Korea is what led to the civil-rights movement sucess in the 60s?
