Maciek is a polar fox who, in September of 2019, was rescued from a fur farm by activists from Otwarte Klatki (Open Cages Poland).

Since he was rescued, Maciek has been living in a home sanctuary where he’s loved and taken care of. Even though he lost his paw due to his previous owners’ negligence, he’s been enjoying his life outside of the fur farm and just being his sassy little self.

This year, Maciek experienced snow for the first time. And his reaction was simply heartwarming!

Photos are by Andrew Skowron from Otwarte Klatki.

I don't know who is still wearing real fur but it isn't worth killing that beautiful boy.

Fur "farms" should be forbidden! We don't need real fur anymore and the way animals are killed for fur is extremely horrifying and cruel. I think fake fur is really cute and warm and can replace real fur.

So, the thing is, fake fur is plastic or something like it. I'm not saying to buy from a fur farm, I agree, they can go die in hell. What I'm saying is, there are more options than plastic fur and a fur farm. Buy fur from indigenous people. They hunt to live, (I think), and buying from them instead of a farm supports individuals. At the least, you know it's not going to a fur farm. Also, I don't think you have seen the meat industry...

The real name for "snow fox" is "arctic fox". As you can see, I'm quite obsessed with them, hence my username and profile pic.

Don’t allow fur farms nor puppy or cat breeding for money. Disgusting.

I can't imagine what it must be like to be named after the habitat your species is most commonly found (the arctic), and then never seeing snow!

Just stop using animal products. Those who wear fur are evil and ugly.

What a stunning creature! I am so glad that Maciek can now run freely, enjoy the snow, and spend quality time with his adopted dog brother. Fur farms needs to end.

Those who have no real reason to wear fur SHOULD NOT WEAR FUR!!! It's an obsolete show of wealth, and today it only looks wrong, and cruel, and blood soaked. Indigenous people who hunt for their living can wear fur, because small scale killing of animals is usually more kind to the animal than big hunts or industrialised killing of animals. But to think that you could buy better fur from Indigenous people just because they hunt for themselves is to fool yourself. If they are the only providers of furs it could well turn into an industrialised operation again, because indigenous people are also interested in getting good pay for their goods, and they're as smart as any banker can be. If they hold the only fur anyone can buy they also will see to that they get the best prise, and a lot of customers. Make the wearing of fur stupid, and ugly, and silly, and soooo last century, and let the fur industry die away, let them give away the animals to be cared for by those who love the animals.

So, here's the thing. While there needs to be a recognition that we would not be alive had our ancestors not killed animals for their fur, we no longer need to do so. There are plenty of materials that can provide warm clothing without caging animals like this beautiful fox. In this day and age, it's the height of human selfishness to kill for fur.
