There are plenty of posts about confectionery on Bored Panda, as there's a massive demand for sweet news. Some use cakes as a part of some imagined situation, some are in it for the unique art itself or creative choices, and some create cool desserts that are just plain creepy. No matter the preference, in baking, like in real cake, there are layers of hierarchy: only a select few become the creme de la creme, cream of the crop, top of the food chain, the icing on the cake. Ben Cullen, 28, is one of them. His cake designs have a stunning range—from something that looks like it came from a fast-food diner to edible clothes, to stylized-yet-lifelike busts, to stabs at horror movies, to vegetables and optical illusions—he can do it all, it seems. His edible art messes with your brain, too! Some of his eye tricks look better on the outside than on the inside, and some the other way around. Some things seem so delicious that you don't care what they'd actually taste like, and some you wouldn't approach from miles away (they're still probably delicious, though.) In any case, check his food art out and see for yourself. If you felt a sugar rush and you're hooked, check out his Instagram and Facebook to see even more. Who knew that the term "eye candy" could be so figuratively literal? Have a nice one.

“a lot of people see this as a glass of water. But I see it.... as a piece of cake.” -Zach King
I know the phrase is over-used but my mind is blown!! Are you kidding me???
I hate to be that person, but these are real potatoes mixed in with a cake potato (which is unbelievably amazing- I won't take that away!) You can tell by the shine on the skin and different color. The top R is the cake potato in the top pic.
I see what you mean - the real potatoes lend authenticity to the cake, making it seem more realistic than if it were on its own. Clever :) It's nonetheless brilliantly executed!
Load More Replies...As someone who works in the produce department of a grocery store and handles yellow potatoes everyday: These are freaking amazing. Wow. The detail is INSANE.
You wouldn't believe how hard I strained myself trying to find a single flaw in the top picture.
I hate apples so i guess this is how my mom could hide her desserts fro me.
I always wanted a green apple that tastes like a green skittle. This is as close as it can get.
These cakes are absolutely AMAZEBALLS!!!! The BEST I've ever seen! I wish I could order one!
I want this REAL bad! It is a perfect size (I assume) for my night time snack! Edit: I'm also dreaming that the inner pit is solid milk chocolate!
I wonder if this banana cake is actually banana chocolate flavor too? 🤤
This would be great if it was a chocolate covered banana flavored cake
I mean wth! It even looks MORE ripe in the second image! What sorcery is this!?
I normally don’t like bananas, but this one looks delicious!
Just 🤯🤯🤯 Hands are soooo hard to draw! I couldn't imagine making a CAKE one!
He should have used the brand Corona to freak out people even more
Amazing cake, but I wouldn't able to eat it, at least with the outer layer on. My mind would be confused, eyes saying it's a savory dish and other senses telling me it's a dessert
Is there SUPPOSED to be only one picture here? I just see the pizza slice.
This tortoise is so lifelike, it seems a bit cruel to start eating him!
Even got the fingerprints! This guy is huge over here in the UK, he's on the TV show Extreme Cake Makers for anyone who's interested x
Huh? It's a British dish. You can tell by the way there's baked beans on everything 😀
Load More Replies...I love me some spuds - boiled, broiled, grilled, fried, mashed, baked, fully loaded - but with pork and beans??? NO!!!! That is an abomination to any spud! However, wonderful job - some mad skills here!
My reaction to this is the same as to the Turkey cake. Amazing cake, but I wouldn't able to eat it, at least with the outer layer on. My mind would be confused, eyes saying it's a savory dish and other senses telling me it's a dessert
God I hope those aren't real beans, because I still can't tell...
It's baked beans in a tomato sauce. It's a British classic that works for breakfast, lunch, dinner and snacks. With your Full English fry-up, on top of toast, with sausage & mash, baked eggs and loads more. They're tinned and take just a couple of minutes to heat on the hob or in the microwave so are really convenient.
Load More Replies...Yay, I’m not the only person who thought that! If you hadn’t said that, it would have only reassured me that I have a dark mind..
Load More Replies...Admire all of the meticulous detail this person had to use to catch your attention, just to destroy it, this truly is the purest form of art. ❤️
Okay, now I'm starting to get suspicious. Does this man sell these/other cakes to people? What happens with the ones he takes a slice out of for the picture? How do we know how much of these are real cake ingredients? I have questions 🤨
He does most of these for a TV show over here in UK called Extreme Cake Makers - part of the deal is they get before and after shots of the cakes to show they don't just look pretty x
Load More Replies...thanks for explaining all! i thought it looked like baked beans but never ever heard of it going on toast !
It's not baked beans actually. It's the beans they sell in a can, called Pork and Beans, with just a light tomato flavor sauce. The same beans are then used to make baked beans and also there are cans of another product with the same flavored sauce as the Pork and Beans, made in snack size cans called Beenie Weenies with little pieces of hot dogs cut up in the beans and you eat them usually room temperature. They offer a BBQ flavor in the Beenie Weenies, but baked beans are a product made separately from these cans of beans eaten on toast. These have a very light colored, more clear looking liquid that they are in with a very mild flavor. They don't have any of the brown sugar, garlic, molasses, onion, or seasoning like baked beans in them.
Baked beans, in a tomato sauce, from a tin. Heats in minutes, goes on toast, on jacket spuds, with eggs, sausages, bacon and loads more. Breakfast, lunch, dinner and snacks. We Brits love them - according to Heinz (the leading brand) 25% of us eat them several times a week!

Until his face was cut open :( excellent otherwise
Load More Replies...You can also use crushed up graham crackers as most people don't want to eat straight up sugar
Load More Replies...Adorable... I’m so Happy you didn't show the picture of it cut or i would of cried
I love it when people say spoopy instead of spooky. Makes my day.
Load More Replies...Actually, I just discussed with my girlfriend and she agreed to have it for our wedding cake.
Load More Replies...Worse - looks like she is going to eat HERSELF
Load More Replies...Aaaaahahaha, as I was scrolling down I thought this was going to be a poo/poo emoji cake until the last second 😆
Nah, not fond of the Baldwins. They were the Kardashians of way back when. I know of many far better actors than him.
Load More Replies...No no, it's not completely black in the middle so it's just "caramelized". :P
Load More Replies...I'm getting hungry and I don't know if it's for sweet or savory--this it totally confusing me!
Old school! I used to think I was hot s**t playing with one of these at my grandparents office...until I got yelled at. I love the torn paper here.
I probably would have spit it out in surprise if they told me it was a sandwich.
Load More Replies...It’s called fondant(It’s pronounced fon-DAUNT but many people say it as fon-DINT...drives me mad!!)
Load More Replies...The cool, just came from a bin of ice, water droplets on the top just probe that this dudes attention to detail is 100! The can actually looks cold.
This is absolutely breathtaking. I would love to see it from different sides.
I would. Like take these cakes out and goos people aout by eating *a raw stake*
Brick. Twinkie's are rounded, and not generally a British thing (unless we find overpriced boxes in the our local sweet shop).
Load More Replies...I definitely thought it was filled with whatever is on the end.
Load More Replies...Chicken nuggets are not fake meat, princess, it's just processed to make it into compressed nuggets. Same difference as fish sticks, hot dogs and sausages, but I don't hear you whining about them.
Load More Replies...Am I the only one slightly weirded out that they take slices from the people's faces every time?
In Sex in The City 2, Charlotte has "Pudding in her Prada". This one would be "Cake in the Gucci".
Load More Replies...Hopefully he got to assemble him just like a real mr potato head.
Walker's was started in 1948 by a guy called Walker and was bought out by Frito-Lay, (PepsiCo), in 1989. They kept the name due to the legacy of the brand and to prevent losses in sales from customers not knowing that the brands were the same.
Load More Replies...That looks like the chick from, was it criminal minds or some other csi show like this
Load More Replies...These are incredible. I wouldn't be able to eat many of these, though, when I eat a dessert I want it to look like a dessert
For me none of those, cos I don't like fondant nor icing; some of the chocolate around seems too massive, while others I don't see a good balance between cake and filling. The point of those is the looks (which he nails) and it probably tastes good (for those that don't hate fondant)
Load More Replies...While I am amazed at the skill involved in making these cakes it seems like a lot of work just to create something people are going to eat. One hour after showing off your masterpieces all that's left is crumbs.
These are more cake sculptures than edible, although kids probably would like the amount of sweetness. For this type of cakes, the cake itself needs to be denser than you would want in a cake and the frosting and fondant are used as clay, not as flavor. (It was mentioned already, but usually, this is a show piece and there is a separate flat cake that's very yum on the side to actually eat)
You are so talented. Happy to see you are using your skills to create such beautiful works of art. It's almost a crime they are edible!
