Dog breeds such as the Chow Chow originate from Northern China and were traditionally used as guard dogs for temples, but this fluffy dog has another mission in life―providing social media with cuteness overload. Since the beginning of 2015, when Chowder joined the army of Instagram petfluencers, he has become a bright star with 430k followers who are obsessed with the hundreds of pics and videos they receive on a regular basis. This teddy bear dog takes social media very seriously and shares all of his ventures―walks, car rides, snippets from playtime, treats, lazy moments, and naps.
The bear look-alike was a gift from the owner's parents. “Chowder is the family's first dog and he has brought so much light and happiness to our household. We cannot imagine life without him because he instantly brightens everyone’s day,” the adorable dog’s owner told Bored Panda.
Chowder is, without a doubt, one of the fluffiest fluffs to ever win the internet and his chill appearance seems to match his personality perfectly. “He is a very lazy and relaxed cute puppy. He loves to sleep and eat all day but at the same time, he loves walks and trips to the mall.”
In addition to spreading joy with his precious photos, his owners are on a mission to fight the popular misconception that Chow Chows are a vicious and temperamental breed. With proper training and socialization, a Chow Chow can be the sweetest and the most loving four-legged friend, and Chowder is proof of that.
You could probably imagine what daily life with this snuggly creature looks like. Every time Chowder is out in public on his walks or at the mall, he is also on the hunt for hearts. Strangers can't help but comment on his unique features, ask for pictures and, most probably, pet him (wouldn’t you?)
“90% of the people who see him in public say ‘OMG, he looks like a teddy bear,’” Chowder's hooman shared their daily struggles.
Chowder explained his adorable appearance in one Instagram post with the hashtag #chowderfact: “I have a pink spot on my tongue because my dad was a cinnamon chow and my mom was a cream chow. Hence my teddy bear-like fur color and spotted tongue.”
The remarkable career of Chowder wasn’t planned, and his sensational success was a surprise to his owner―what started as a simple need to share cute photos of a dog on social media suddenly turned into so much more. The pooch even has his plush clone available to give fans the opportunity of unlimited cuddles with mini Chowder and a few lines of socks for different occasions, like birthdays or Christmas.
“The sole purpose was just to share his cuteness with others. We never expected at all that it would get this big. We just kept posting adorable photos and videos of him. He gained more and more popularity when media outlets would share his content,” said the owner. “It is quite overwhelming because Chowder has no idea and just stays cute and adorable.”
Happy birthday to you happy birthday to you happy birthday dear chowder happy birthday to you
“We like to post every time we take a cute video or photo of him. We post because we get a lot of comments and messages from people saying that Chowder just really makes them happy. We want to keep spreading good vibes and happiness,” said the owner. So follow Chowder the Bear Dog for a regular dose of heartwarming dog content and good emotions.
I'm glad that I just get to see the pic. If seen in real life, I'd just melt on the spot.
I had one for 17! Years. Great personality, very headstrong and the fur needs a lot of attention. Still miss Haidan my loyal friend.
