Mia Aflalo is only 5-years-old and has already made her mark on the fashion market and the internet, thanks to her naturally long, beautiful hair. Born in Tel Aviv, Israel, this little girl has racked up 53.2k Instagram followers and been featured in British Vogue.

While this level of success could lead to the makings of a diva, Mia’s hairstylist Sagi Dahari told The Daily Mail she’s quite the opposite. “Princess Mia” never complains or argues. Rather, she prefers to “wait patiently and smile at everyone.”

Despite her numerous fans, many people find exposing a child so young to such a level of social media and public limelight is harmful. One commenter noted “It’s not just the friends you want to impress who go on Instagram, there are bad people everywhere. You are endangering her life as well as her present and future mental health.”

Others disagreed and believed the amazing photos were all in good fun, like one commenter who said: ‘I hardly think this beautiful girl cares how she looks for random strangers on the internet. She most likely feels pretty and confident, as she is!’

I don't particularly agree with it. We are dealing with the backlash from a "generation of narcissism" which is putting great pressure on men and women alike to conform to standards that are not only hard to meet, but also completely facile and meaningless. The luck of our genetic make-up or our online social prowess should not be tied to our self worth. However, I don't know this family, and its not for me to condemn or assume to know them. If the child is happy and healthy than cool, I'm just not sure if we should be promoting beauty in this way.

if she's having fun, great. Let her go for it. The money can get her a first class education. One hopes that the instant it stops being fun, her parents will pull her out of the business. I have one prediction, though. In about ten years, in a fit of adolescent angst, she's going to take a pair of sewing shears to her hair. //// It's a teenager thing.

The child is undisputably beautiful but whenever I see this kind of thing I can;t help thinking of a "stage Mom'' or Dad trying to live the life they wish they had experienced through their child.

I cannot speak to whether the child is affected by being a model, or if she enjoys her work. I do think displaying a small child in beauty posses is very, very inappropriate and dangerous. These pictures sexualize the child.
