What’s important is loving yourself as you are, aiming for your goals, and enjoying life to the fullest. That’s the philosophy of KSDK News meteorologist and reporter Tracy Hinson, who became the target of a fat shaming outburst by an angry viewer.

The viewer fat shamed Hinson by saying that she should wear clothes that would cover the ‘bulge’ in her stomach when she’s on TV. Hinson responded and shut the criticism down with a snappy comeback.

The discontented viewer’s remarks show that fat shaming is still prevalent in some parts of the world and hasn’t been replaced by calm, constructive, and supportive discussions. Instead of a rational debate, the viewer chose to vent their rage, and that’s never a good solution to anything.

Believing in yourself and loving yourself as you are great qualities to have. However, being active, eating nutritious food, and getting plenty of rest is also very important. Combine the two and you’ll be virtually unstoppable.

Bored Panda spoke to Paralympian, motivational speaker, and comedian Josh Sundquist, who lost his leg to cancer when he was 9 years old, about what advice he would give to people would love to exercise more.

“We all have different levels of physical ability, scheduling freedom, and personal motivation to be active,” Sundquist pointed out that everyone’s life is different. “So sometimes there are constraints that make it difficult for people to shed a sedentary lifestyle.”

He continued, pointing out that being active greatly improves the quality of one’s life: “But I think all research is clear that the best health (physical and mental) outcomes are associated with an active lifestyle, so the extent it’s within your ability to find a physical activity that you enjoy, I think you’ll find being active is a definite life upgrade.”

Sundquist said that he personally exercises ‘for the endorphins.’ “The harder you work, the more your body will reward you with that rush afterward.”

Also this is very important - ALL women have this to some degree. Our uteruses literally push against our stomach walls, causing a small bump even if the person is not overweight in any way.

You're half-right - all women do have this and it's healthy. The reason for it is because women store more fat there and it protects the uterus and vital organs. Also hormones. The uterus itself is too small in its regular state to cause this bump.

I do not think it is benign any more than any bullying shaming. To make mean and hateful remarks to someone to intentionally hurt them is uncalled for any should be publically rebuked. This simply is a form of ridiculing to make self feel better and take away from someone who has what they wished they had. Sorry to the beautiful and talented weather woman for having to defend herself, but she did it with class.

Facts: Tracy has a slight bulge in her stomach area. I have a HUGE bulge as a stomach. Tracy is still thinner than the average woman and appears to be healthy. I am overweight and not so healthy. Tracy loves food. I love food. Tracy is not ashamed of her body. I am, but I used to have the body aspired to by many men (when I was in the service at least) and was not ashamed at that time. Tracy probably diets, but enjoys food she likes. I diet, and skip food I like for fear it might kill me (I am diabetic, and I did it to myself by NOT watching my food when I should have!). Tracy should never be insulted about her weight. I should never be insulted about my weight (I already know, insults dont help the situation, only I can do that). Tracy looks STUNNING and wears tight clothing, I used to look good wore tight clothing. Moral here: Tracy is Tracy, I am ME. nothing will change that, least of all some strangers comments. Any woman whose ever been convinced that she should wear makeup, a girdle, or any other painful/time consuming device to be pretty or attractive needs to stop relying on artificial means and just be themselves. The only way society will get over this antiquated way of defining beauty is if we refuse to participate. Anyone who is happy, confident and projects themselves in a positive way towards others is beautiful. No artificial ingredients required.

Societal norms have been pushing women to virtually disappear or to resemble young boys. Thinner and thinner while doing more and more have made anorexia an epidemic. Style has demanded less and less body hair, including pubic hair. Women like Mary have succumbed to the male pressure.

There are so ouch problems for women in this world! Mean and some women, still want to tell us what to do with our bodies! So why are women treating each other so badly? I just don't understand this. Men don't fat shame each other, or tell each other man, you need to stop drinking, your beer belly is just too much! Why don't you wear a man girdle on air to tuck that stomach in, and stop eating at that Italian place every night! It is endless. Women need to wake up and support each other in love and sisterhood. All women.

Been fat, been skinny. The both have their own quirks. What gets me really mad is how the media, talk shows and jokes had. Oprah's IQ and talent was measured in pounds. If she gained weight, her IQ and accomplishments plummeted like the stock market back in the day. Thinned down she had the sycophants kissing her ass and denying they ever were part of the lynch mob character assassination. A friend of my brothers dated a tv weather gal. Her contract included what would cause her contract to be out the window if she gained more than a couple pounds. Skimpily clad women in South America do the weather. Newspapers always tell us what a woman is wearing. "Ms X looked rather frazzled in her Chanel. Suit and knock off Prada pumps. Men grow gray and become distinguished, veteran reporters or senators. Women get fired. Too old, too worn out and too aggressive. If men pack on a few pounds, the jokes are innocent. Holiday pounds or some other stupid stuff. Obesity and insensitivity. Kindness?

I have an issue with the bored panda article in general. The article is about one thing but then they get comments from a paralympian man that honestly has nothing to do with either female? Or females in general? You couldn't find any other female to get a comment from that might be able to actually relate to the situation that happened? Not being sexist but I'm not seeing how the guy who lost his leg at 9 yrs old has anything to do with a female meteorologist getting fat shamed?

It really shouldn't matter what others like or dislike! Her dress was appropriate for her job, she had the appropriate parts of her body covered. Your "logic" would suggest that because people might not like to see someone with a visible disability they should hide away..., maybe I don't like to look at tall women, or red hair or people wearing glasses. Does that mean that people should change their appearance to suit me? This woman has a shapely womanly figure, there is no reason she shouldn't wear a form fitting dress if she felt good in it. It's attitudes like yours that cause women to never feel good enough, they fear being judged. It causes eating disorders and mental health issues.... one throwaway comment like that could cause a woman to worry totally unnecessarily every single time she looks in the mirror. It's damaging and needs to stop! No one should expect repercussions about their fashion choices!

If you are making your livelyhood off of your image than being aware of what is flattering and not is important. You can't expect to get paid for your look but then lecture others when they comment on it. It's just like any job. If you are a server and someone complains about your service do you lecture them back? No. Same thing.

All women.

I would have thought a two word - second word 'off' - response to be more than enough.

Kindness?

Dear Mary- You must not be human. Humans have these. We keep our intestines behind them.

Hi gentlemen, this is Monika, 25 years old. I'd love to meet a normal guy. I am not looking for a sponsor, I am not interested in your earnings, car etc. First of all, I value personal culture and a sense of humor, for me it is a secondary matter. Interested persons please contact me. You can see more of my photos on my profile: www.wyspakobiet.eu/monia25

one of the featured tweets made me stop and think: Mary probably heard this criticism herself, of herself. I am NOT saying this to excuse it--Mary is flat out wrong, and body shaming is NOT OKAY. But her criticism may also be a projection of her own insecurity.

Tracy should not be surprised by this criticism, people are mean, cruel.

My mother taught me - small minds talk about people. Seems we have met one of those small minds . it is to be hoped she will take some of these responses and use them as a learning experience. Who cares what the news people, for example, look like as long as they are doing their job?

It does seem to be true that some of the worst misogynists are women. It is even sadder that they clearly do hate themselves.

Step 1: become a doctor so that you actually know what you're talking about.

Today's journalism is essentially listing other people's tweets. I didn't read most of this for that reason.

It was a fine comeback, but in no way "epic". Not worth posting here. This sort of thing happens all the time. If we posted every jerk on the internet and someone's mundane answer, there would be, what 10,000 bored panda posts per day? Downvoted.

I have a bulge in my stomach and I wear tops that cover it up . But if she wants hers to hang out then thats fine but expect repercussions. Some people don't like looking at muffin tops.

No. Same thing.
