Father’s day is around the corner. This year in the United States of America we will be celebrating it on June 17th. I wanted to make a photo series to honor great dads, fathers that are involved in their children’s lives. With the help of my husband, my friends, and neighbors I was able to create this project just in time for Father’s day.

Now that I am a mother myself, I watch my husband, my friends’ husbands, see how they interact with their children. I catch myself comparing them with my own father. It’s funny how different they all are but at the end they love their children unconditionally.

I tried to show as many different types of dads as I could possibly think of and give a funny twist to it. Maybe you can relate to some of them too. Enjoy.

Why is it that a man changing a diaper is seen as "special" in some way? He's a PARENT, fercryinoutloud! That's what parents do.

OB - As the child of a gay parent, let me assure you. This IS normal! I have the most wonderful memories of my childhood with both my dad, my mum & their SOs. Compared to the childhoods of some of the kids I went to school with it was magical. Who my Dad chooses to love and enjoy his life with has had absolutely no negative impacts on my life because they are wonderful caring, selfless people. Even though I lived with Dad growing up, I saw my Mum and stayed at her place when ever I wanted to. I went to school with kids from "broken homes" who didnt get to spend time with either of their straight parents nearly as much as I got to spend time with my Mum despite living with my Dad. In highschool when my best friend whose strict religious parents kicked her out because of the music she liked and the posters she put on her bedroom wall, it was my Dad who let her stay in the spare bed I had in my bedroom and made sure there was always a seat for her at our dinner table, took us to school and listened what we thought about the world around us regardless of whether or not he understood it, like a parent should. He never made a big deal about it or ever asked for compensation for the extra mouth he was feeding. If every parent cared for their children like my Dad did for me and my brothers, or like the Dads in this picture clearly do, there would be alot less children in the world who need homes because the parents they do have, had the ability to create a life but not to care and love unconditionally. A person's sexuality has no effect on their ability to be good parent ...you moron.

Really important job here; total focus. Too many men are disconnected from children and parenting, our culture prescribes it. Let's turn it around.

gOT TO LET KIDS BE KIDS. hE LOOKS RELAXED AND KIDS ARE NOT IN REAL SERIOUS DANGER. CANNOT PROTECT THEM 24/7. LET THEM GORW UP. ITS ABOUT LEARNING AND GROWING.
