Benny Harlem is an aspiring singer, songwriter, model and, most importantly, amazing dad. Benny and his 6-year-old daughter Jaxyn are gaining more and more attention due to their special bond and unique looks. This amazing dad shows a great example to his little girl of how to show confidence in everything you do and embrace your heritage. Benny says that his, as parent’s, job is to protect and grow his child. By showing so much attention and care he hopes that Jaxyn will grow up to be a confident and strong person.

Their beautiful father-daughter love is not the only thing that this duo shares – they both rock amazing hairdos. Little Jaxyn looks confident and happy in her own skin so you can’t deny that Benny is doing a great job being a role model.

Depends on what kind of respect we're talking about. Do you want to be respected around your neighbors? Sure, earn it. But being respected in general as a human being? Being respected as a woman by a male? Those aren't things anyone should have to work for.

There's not a thing wrong with demanding respect. It means you won't put up with anything less. I think it's sweet he takes time out of his gorgeous life to include his daughter in everything he does. Some could learn good things from this father. Not sure about the hair but I like looking at it but it could be because it's just too damn much hair for anyone and it kinda looks crazy. But still cool.

The last picture though.....It's not that I see anything wrong with giving your child a peck on the lips, it's the way they are posing staring into each other's eyes with her hand embracing his face/hair that made say whaaaaa Lol. I know nothing is amiss it just kind of gave me pause.

It does because we're not used to seeing it in the Western parts of the world. Kissing/pecking your child on the lips is an ancient form of love and affection that remains in hundreds of cultures around the world. I do agree that it looks a little bit staged/odd and more romantic that affectionate. I think the photographer set it up like that to commercialize it more, and that's what's throwing us off.

Is it just me that thinks that all the article is unnecessary? I mean, what's the point? The girls hair? The lessons that her father teaches her? I believe that it's too much and there is no reason to make it such a big deal. Also I don't believe that it's good this beautiful little girl to have such big spectacularity, it's like her father wants to promote her!

Lizelle du Plessis 5 months ago An article filled with beauty and joy and an unbreakable bond between a father and a daughter and you still find a way to make it bad. Why can some people not just accept something good for what it is, something that is good. Don't always go looking for negativity in every situation. That is not a way to live life.

I'm not sure why all the comments here are criticising this man for teaching his daughter to demand respect. There was a time when blacks were slaves in America, and even today police are quick to arrest them first. Most of the comments are by Caucasians, some by white men, who may not know what it's like to be disrespected as a female. Not everyone maybe raped but did you know in US colleges 3 out of 5 women DO experience date rape on college campuses? Many times women ARE treated like a piece of meat. And it's about time we acknoledge the darker aspects of our society especially holding compassion for groups who may not have the same levels of power you experience in society. It maybe good to ask around different experiences of people to gain some perspective. And respect it is that way. If you don't respect yourself, no one else will. I say Kudos to this man for teaching it to his daughter! With the right values, we create a better society!

Lol..... photo shop.... kisses on the lips..... Some of you need to get a grip.. nothing wrong with a father kissing his daughter. And is it perverted to now look at your child with love not lust mind you. This photo shopped thing.... The photographer put his artistic spin on the pictures so what. Very nice pics. One up for the father actually taking care of his child mentally and physically

Oh please! Every damn photo the hair is a different length and texture. and BTW his "wife" is the photographer and he does the edits, so so much for your " photographer put his artistic spin on the pictures" argument. The only thing he's teaching this child is how to ruin her damn edges packing on all that damn marley hair.

All this talk about 'demanding' respect, and having respect due to you just because you're human. Does anyone here know the definition of respect? I think not. What is being talking about is - being treated reasonably and fairly and not being prejudged. That is not respect. Respect is earned. Definition of respect - a of deep admiration for someone or something elicited by their abilities, qualities, or achievements. So as is so common nowadays - we are redefining words and then noone knows what they are talking about. If we were all kind, humble and honest - then there would be a lot more respect. Instead of uppity and entitled.

Everyone has a different interpretation of respect - whether it should be earned or is a human right. This girl has the right to feel respected until she does something to lose that respect. Part of being humble and kind is to respect each other. Just because you disagree with the way he teaches her, doesn't make you right and you should get off your high horse. His lesson of demanding respect teaches her that when someone approaches her to mock her hair, degrade her because of her skin colour or gender, she then has the right to demand respect and knowing this right, will help her to appreciate herself. I admire their confidence and I think you have forgotten the point, to feel comfortable in your own skin, instead you have cherry-picked the un-importance of it.

"I teach her to demand respect" - Lol, that's not good. Demanding something means you have a need to be given something. "The only way for me to protect her for life is to prepare her for life." Real smart, that joint must be a baker. Seriously... But overall, good luck and keep loving. Life is not about preparing, it's about experiencing, in my opinion.

You people make me sick. This is a king teaching his princess how to love herself first. So many of our black men do not step up and take care of their children and yall want to blast thus man necause he does? Really? Yall need to take two seats because alot of you are way out of line and if you would get your damn thoughts out of the gutter you would see theres nothing wrong with these pictures and damn sure isnt anything wrong with a father showing love and respect for his daughter. He's giving her the love and respect that so many of our black women desire from men in their adult lives. And the hair? My beautiful daughter is all natural and has a head full and more of hair and ahe is a beautiful black queen. Dont down us because our skin is beautiful and comes in ao many different shades. I pray that this little girl never sees all the negativeness coming from you people. You should all be ashamed of yourselves in finding negativity in something so beautiful.

Most negative comments comming from people who cant even SPEAK on the black experience because they are not black. God made everyone if he just wanted everyone to be one color then it would be, but seeming as that would be boring as hell this world is filled with diverse people with all kinds of cultures. Just cause your skin is a certain color will NOT get you into heaven. God does not see color children dont see color they are taught.

It is so sad that negative comments would even comme from this beautiful father daughter relationship. Could it be jealousy because your lcking something with your own father. I think this is beautiful and if more fathers as well as mothers instill confidence and love within bullying would be easier to deal with, societys image of her will not bother her. I think the first man that should ever instill beauty in you is your father. You guys are so sicking to even make these comments. Weather there hair is alll natural it does not matter geeze that has nothing to do with the love he has for his child. Now if they were bald headed you all would still say something. No one is put on this earth to be validated by your OPINIONS. This world is so sad and sick.

Their natural hairdos is a strong symbolism. The awesome beauty of this Father & Daughter Duo in taking over the internet, goes beyond and above their natural hairdos. I believe as deeply in confidence in everything we do and that it is essential to embrace our heritage. I commend Benny Harlem for understanding and sharing that "Parents continuously grow if we pay attention to our childrenโ€™s Godly Sunlight" and I will add nurture them... (he sure does so!). There are many children of color that grow hair in a short period of time liKe this... We have many of them in our family... Respect will be earned if you demand it.

I never give a person my time without them first respecting me.. I expect acknowledgement and kindness from our first encounter and if I don't get it you become invisible.
