This Designer Goes Viral For Creating Outfits Based On Foods, Drinks, And Cleaning Products (16 Pics)
Interview With ArtistWe've been in lockdown for far too long now and any means are acceptable to fight boredom. We've been surrounded by the same walls and items to the point that some of us have started looking at items around us from a new perspective. This fashion-forward Chilean designer definitely did. They say inspiration can strike at any moment and at any place, so how about while doing chores? 28-year-old Felipe Cavieres started creating outfits inspired by various household objects—from cleaning products to foods and drinks. His out-of-the-box thinking made him go viral on Instagram and people love his creative looks.

Cavieres' idea to bring unexpected objects to life through unique fashion looks is rooted in his amazing ability to look at everyday things differently. He started by creating outfits based on cleaning products, which were met with huge success on Instagram, and then added other items such as foods and drinks to the collection. His interest in cleaning products is not accidental; he admitted he liked cleaning from an early age as it relaxes him and has even developed his own cleaning formulas.
"From a very young age I liked cleaning the house and some of these products are very common to see in a Chilean home and I think perhaps the idea is due to that. Look beyond what we see as something 'aesthetic,'" the designer told Bored Panda.

Cavieres creates stylish looks from head to toe that resemble the color palette of the packaging of well-known cleaning products, foods, and drinks. He makes deliberate decisions when matching clothes and accessories to make up an amazing complete outfit.
In his short Instagram videos, Cavieres not only shows his fabulous fashion sense, but his charming personality also shines through. He works his outfits with classy poses and very fitting props, such as a pan or a can opener, which shows his humorous approach.
Felipe Cavieres is a costume designer who works in a design store in the capital of Chile, Santiago. He became famous on social media because of videos with recycled clothing, which is a trending topic in Chile at the moment. We asked Cavieres how he created his viral looks: "I have a very large closet of 100% sustainable clothing, I did it with what I had at home." He said his favorite outfit turned out to be the one inspired by Clorinda.
Cavieres opened up about the feedback he received for his creative project: "I received very good comments from people for my creativity and that meant something very interesting to me. A very famous newspaper from my country interviewed me and it was something very important to me."
"Even the simplest item can be eye-catching. You can be inspired by mundane things every day," Cavieres said in a short interview with Chilean newspaper Las Últimas Noticias. He added that even a rug or a stuffed animal could be an interesting inspiration and recollected how Moschino launched a collection of clothing inspired by cleaning products in 2016 and perfume bottles in the shape of cleaning sprays.
So maybe next time you need some style inspiration, it would be a good idea to look around with an open mind, because great things can turn out from it.
Who knew that Quix, Cif, or Harpic could push your fashion game to another level? The fashion industry is known for turning the weirdest and the most unexpected objects into inspiration for haute couture collections. We've previously shared a list of the best examples of beautiful nature-inspired fashion looks from the world's best fashion runway shows here on Bored Panda. While some of them might be accidental, others resemble the unique beauty seen in nature. Paul Harfleet posted his fashion and makeup looks inspired only by birds. Other designers such as Daria Kurtulmus are inspired by pop culture trends.
However, some fashion looks we see from A-list designers are so bizarre, you could hardly imagine someone wearing them in public seriously. Some hilarious people on the internet used their time in quarantine to recreate the most ridiculous "high fashion" looks with things they found at home, so check them out for a good laugh!
Although inspired by unusual and weird objects, Cavieres' fashion looks turned out balanced, stylish, and bold. What do you think about Cavieres' outfits? Let us know in the comments! And check his Instagram feed for more inspiring looks that often break the 'socially acceptable' rules such as the perception that only women can wear skirts.
"Fashion is something passing, style is what we carry inside and it reflects us. It is very important to wear a skirt in this country. It is something transgressive and doing it brought me very good and bad things like insults on the street," he said.
He also had advice to anyone who is still looking for their sense of style: "wear what you want and don't be afraid, clothing communicates and educates."
