This Is What Sunset Looks Like From Space
Even in times of scientific and technological advancements, our beautiful planet remains full of mysteries. From the incredible bismuth crystal that looks like it came from some sort of sci-fi film to the enchanting glowing forest in Japan with its luminescent mushrooms scattered along the forest floor, there are so many exquisite finds on Earth. They make us question how much about the place we inhabit we don’t really know.
Some of the most standout mysteries that have been captivating the imagination of many throughout the years include Stonehenge in Wiltshire, England. The structure consists of a ring of standing stones, with each stone standing approximately thirteen feet high, seven feet wide and weighing 25 tons. It’s believed to have been built about 5000 years ago, but scholars still do not agree on what its purpose could have been.
Another mysterious object is the stone spheres found in Costa Rica, located on the Diquis Delta and on Isla del Cano. There are over three hundred petro spheres scattered throughout the country that are still considered a great, unsolved archaeological mystery. The heaviest of them weighs many tons, and they’re believed to be made of granodiorite.

I am fascinated by the optical effect of the design. The statue is not at full body length, it's around 3/4, missing the bottom 1/4. This makes the brain believe that the statue goes lower (like if the legs of the statue extended down), therefore it's perceived longer than it actually is. How cool!

That's disgusting. Charging so much for life saving medication is sick and twisted.
And yet so many Americans claim it's the greatest country on Earth! I suppose it's only the greatest if you're rich.
Exactly. Just a bunch of brain washed idiots that think helping businesses first will somehow people them to.
Trickle-down never was intended to work, only to numb and further abuse the prolitariat. That would be us.
You'll notice it's generally the rich or uneducated who insist it's the best country on earth. The vast majority of us recognize its flaws.
It still costs that much in every country. Someone pays for it, be it the government through taxes, health insurance companies through premiums or the patient through payment plans.
Soggy, I have my doubts it does cost that much. The US insurance system inflates prices for profit - providers charge whatever they fancy because "insurance will cover it". It is evidenced in the people who, when asking for an itemised hospital bill, end up with a smaller bill once a bit of honestly is thrown in.
That's not true. It costs more in the US because most other countries have a single payer driving down the cost of drugs. The cost of insulin in the US is particularly revolting. It became astronomical just because of a rogue pharma scheming to make it so. In the rest of the world they're not allowed to pull stunts like this.

Most medicines and pharmaceuticals are made in China these days. If cost to the US is more than other countries, then that’s China being a s**thead. Otherwise, cost in US is same as elsewhere
i know, but I would rather I pay 10% in taxes every year so that i don't hear stories about people dying needlesly. and like...kids from poor families not having basic healthcare. i'm just paying for this world to be less depressing for myself. AND i barely notice the taxes really
No it really doesn’t. The drug companies price their products differently in every region. They price them as high as they think they can get away with. The USA, being a plutocratic oligarchy, ruled by corporations and corporatist politicians, lets them charge the most. Many drugs, if not most drugs, don’t actually cost a lot to manufacture once the manufacturing gets to scale. In almost every case of long-term manufacturing, the pricing is entirely about profit, not manufacturing costs.

Let's see your country research and develop it cheaper. Don't blame American scientists when most of the world is inventing nothing.
40% is pretty good for one country, considering there are hundreds of countries. According to Brookings Education, 87% of inventions can be traced back to someone born in America.

Who developed the COVID vaccine????
There "ain't" nothing and I mean nothing on the face of this planet that is free.
Yes yes yes, we all understand taxes. Thanks everyone who’s all pissy about taxation. Society is important and taxation is necessary. Paying a slightly higher tax so that everyone can get medical care saves everyone from sudden huge costs, and is the socially responsible thing to do. Now you can start ranting about socialism... 🙄
It is your choice if you want to pay higher taxes. You cannot force everyone else to pay for other peoples stuff. If you really think that then you are welcome to start donating a chunk of your income to other's healthcare.
my family is from Canada, it's free but you might have to wait 2 years for a necessary surgery (when it doesn't matter anymore) but it is free. BTW these cancer drugs are not free to invent or manufacture. Just getting the drug approved costs millions
No you don't, necessary surgeries are quite quick, there's no way for a life saving surgery are you waiting two years. I had to 'electively' have my gall bladder out (it wasn't life threatening, just annoying and painful) and I barely had to wait a month. Family members and their cancer surgeries have had quicker times, both my grandfathers had open heart surgeries and they had only DAYS before going under the knife. All under 'free' healthcare in Canada (different cities, mine in the capital city, family living in smaller cities and towns). Either you are grossly misinformed or just bullshitting everyone and you know nothing The longest of have ever had to wait for any type of healthcare procedure was two months for an MRI after I injured my knee
That "waiting for years" is a talking point from the right, Fox News and such, it's obviously a lie

It actually costs billions. With a B. I'm no fan of the high cost of prescription drugs, but I know that hindering the ability for companies to recoup the costs of developing new medications will result in no more new medications. It's weird how people choose to ignore that.
Not free. Taxes. And in fact the government might refuse to pay for something that expensive. I take an expensive drug for rheumatoid arthritis (not as expensive as this one) and I have to get it approved by a committee every year.
Do you have magic money trees in Canada? NOTHING is ever free when it comes to money and government.
It’s not free, the US patients pay for the research and manufacture of these by paying 12,000 dollars for about 30 so your country can have it for a fraction of the cost. You’re welcome
That particular drug is gleevec, distributed by Teva pharmaceutical industries, an Iranian company. So you can thank Iran for that particular drug. The price of the drug in the USA has continued to climb, despite the fact that cost continues to fall throughout the rest of the world.
I worked in oncology research and one of our docs developed this super incredible drug that works amazing, absurdly good results. He did a talk on it and said after all of the testing, the production, etc, the cost ended up being $50,000 per treatment. He said his own drug that he developed was essentially useless because no one could afford it. Made him change all of his research from super specialized treatments with immunotherapy to more affordable treatments. They don't work as good but what good is a treatment that only 1% of us could afford. However, the more research and development we do in immunotherapy the cheaper these treatments will become over time.
Part of the issue is also the amount of testing typically required to develop a drug like that. So you will genetically engineer rats that will cost you a few thousand per-rat, do upwards of 10 years of testing on them, go to the FDA to get approved to start 10 years of human testing and then they come back and say you need a few years of primate testing...which is far more expensive than the rats, and also a lot of researchers argue is not beneficial. By that time, the doctor who has created the drug can't afford to continue it on so they sell the patent to a pharma company who funds the rest going into human testing (or even during the animal testing). You get into those immunotherapy drugs, you are talking outrageous prices. The tech is still pretty new though so the hope is over time the cost will go down. Research is incredibly expensive.
They should have let it stand. If one person can afford it, they should be free to choose that medication.
There are absolutely ways to streamline production to reduce costs and if it saves lives than it's immeasurable
I bet the Dept of Veterans Affairs would be interested in it. A lot if veterans are diagnosed with cancer due to the environments they're exposed to. Last year we lost a 23 y/o vet due to a rare cancer. Left behind a young bride & 3 month old son.
Even if it's free for the patient the pills have a value - someone has to pay the cost for making them and then someone else for purchasing them so that patients can get them. So the cost mentioned, might not be what the patient has to pay.
In some countries you have no right to live if you can't afford it, like with the insulin too 💔
Insulin is a different story. Insulin was given free to the world by its discoverer, but it's now been purchased and monetized by the pharmaceutical company who has the rights to make it and sell it. It could be provided for next to nothing. It's just not. This is the perfect example of price gouging, and this is coming from a libertarian.
The Nestlé CEO literally declared that water is not a human right, because he wants his companies to have privileged access to public water sources.
My mother worked hard all of her life and was drawing $1300 a month social security. They just let her die in a nursing home because it cost to much to treat her cancer!!! B******t. Wrong.
Especially considering that the R&D to create that drug was probably paid for through donations and government funding.
Donations and government funding? You’re kidding, right? Google DuPont, genius.
What evidence do you have to support this comment that "R&D to create that drug was probably paid for through donations and government funding"? R&D is paid from company profits, great risk but the potential for great reward. I agree that something needs to be done to help make these types of drugs more affordable but no one is going to spend the R&D costs without the potential to recoup their costs.
No, R&D and testing is paid for by Americans who pay 12,000 dollars for about 30 pills for drugs that averages a billion dollars to bring to market.
One of my friends in Switzerland got this for free from the government. Seems in America they just care about getting money not their citizens
It’s for free in DK as well. I had a liver transplant in ‘18. For free. The immunosuppressive medicines to prevent rejection. Free. We have medicine grants. If we spend more than 135€ a year we only have to pay 25% of the price. Had i lived in the us i would be dead 🤷🏼♀️ It is still the most expensive operation in Denmark to date. I have been chronically ill for 35 years. 3 major surgeries. Countless hospitalizations and check-ups. The cost of that, the debts my parents and i would have had, had we lived in the us just freaks me out. I’m both kind of greatfull but also feeling so sad for all those ill people who can’t afford treatment or has to go to their grave weighed down by severe debts. Getting help when you are sick should be a basic human right!
You are right. America is now completely about the all mighty dollar, when before it was built on ideology. I've regretted my conversion to American citizenship since i did it in 2013.

yeah...at least in some parts there's free healthcare. i feel so bad because nowadays in certain parts you need to be a millionaire just to stay healthy. it is very wrong.
Any thoughts that the fake medical establishment in the U.S. is concerned about patients heath are misplaced. The globalists that our gov't workers obey, want us dead.
THANK YOU!!! It’s the monstrous pharmaceutical companies that are in bed with law makers and others that allows this
Took a lot of money to develop aspirin and diazepam as well. They're fairly inexpensive medications though.
Good thing there are charities like the Susan B. Komen foundation that pay for the R&D that they'll later sell back to you.
Tell me about it. I survived Stage 3B Colon Cancer after 8 surgeries, chemo and radiation costing $12M+ in treatment when a $3K colonoscopy I couldn't afford early on could have avoided it all. 'Merica.
Every country in the world does the same thing, just to different degrees. Politicians as a whole are disgusting creatures.
It’s the amount of money they put into the research. Once they own the patent they can charge what they want. I agree. They have you by the balls. I’m a diabetic and without insurance I’d probably be dead. As a matter of fact people who don’t have insurance try to dole out their Medication sparingly and usually end up dying. It’s not right!
Wait till they need anti rejection drugs, anything to do with diabetes, dialysis, heart disease. Basically big pharma knows if you need to live you will go into massive amounts of debt your loved ones will be saddled with to stay alive. When I was told I had uterine cancer I told my doctor's flat out, do a hysterectomy, if it spread to other parts then let it kill me. I am not leaving my family indebted to big pharma. I was also not going to go through chemo again and die not being able to hug my kids. At a certain stage you have reverse isolate because you are literally a big ball of poison. No thanks. Cancer free for three years.
I can understand this one. I took a shot once a month that was over $5k. I had to take it for 10 years
The medicine companies over price there products so when someone’s life is on the line they can make more money. It’s a scam that you need in order to survive
Actually, in the U.S. we pay extra (because we are "rich") to make drugs "affordable" in poorer nations.
There is no such thing as free Healthcare. I live in Poland and before I even get my payout, employer substracts about 1/6 of it for Healthcare alone. And I barely use it. So I pay for nothing to be honest. Then, when I need to visit a specialist or undergo a specific procedurę, I choose private practice and pay even more, because the one provided by state (still for my own monet) is not of the best quality and you wait ages for the visit. Mind that many expensive drugs still are not refunded, or not for everyone. I could go on and on about "free" Healthcare and why it does not work as well as Americans think it does.
It doesn't have to be perfect... It never will be no matter who's system it is. Canadian here and believe me our healthcare system has loads of room for improvement... But I'll take ours lumps and all over the American system any day if the week.
I agree. My uncle has stage 4 melanoma and its not getting better, and its not getting worse. I cant believe these things that could quite literally save so many peoples lives is out of everybody's reach. Same thing with EpiPens.
Western medical treatments for cancer do not produce good outcomes, usually.
If the developers didn't get paid, no one would develop these treatments (that don't usually work).
I'm offended by your name 😂 (I'm foxxy1406 everywhere online)
I'm sure the researchers will work for minimum wage, won't they? I mean...it's just like flippin' burgers.
It’s the cost of research and development they probably still make a loss
Yeah it only cost BILLIONS of dollars in research and MILLIONS of man hours to develop and make these pills. Nobody is entitled to free healthcare at the expense of other's time and labor. Get over it.
yup. there's a reason for this. here's a real story illustrating why this happens...https://theintercept.com/2021/09/07/joe-manchin-epipen-price-heather-bresch/
Their value would be the same, though, whether they're paid for by the patient or a public welfare system.

So companies are just expected to develop more and more and more drugs for a wide range of diseases for free? And don't even try to say government's should since government can't even collect taxes owed.
If they are not prepared to recoup over a longer period so it is affordable and therefore useful then we need to stop donating monies to cancer research and the govt should stop providing them grants, that is where the bulk of research happens out of our direct pockets in the first place.

How can you be so ignorant? You think creating those does not absorb any cost? Some poeple could even die to create those pills, and you the one to judge 12k usd is much for these? Who are you to say that, huh?

Well Trump was working to change that... insulin was the first thing he tackled... now its price is up again since Biden came to office
He never said to drink bleach, stop getting your news from late night "comedy" writers. BTW more people have died from COVID under Biden in the same amount of time than died under Trump. Try living in reality and stop regurgitating falsehoods.
Michigan Oloff: It depends on your point of view; if you are a Trump supporter then he is the greatest, if you are anti-Trump then he is the devil incarnate... My own opinion? I think that, as in most matters of opinion and belief, it is probably somewhere in between...
In Finland you'd pay maybe 20€ for those, and the government pays for the rest. That's public healthcare for ya.
Taxes. We pay a similar amount in taxes in the US, ours just go to cover the military ( and not the soldiers… to the contractors) , and what the wealthy don’t.
My mother has cancer. She has had 6 rounds of chemotherapy loads of different tests for all different things done and I can't tell you how many tablets and injections 2 long stays in hospital and a nurse that comes around to the house every couple of weeks and it hasn't cost her a penny as Cancer care if free in Ireland.
in fact, it is not free anywhere ;) it is just a social system, that allows us to protect patients from choosing between health and money, america is insane..
Load More Replies...Most health insurance plans cost less than the (significant) increase in taxes it would take to mimic Europe.
I also had uterus cancer, no pills but 2 operations, one for biopsy and polyp removal , the other a hysterectomy, countless scans and lymph node removal and testing also, plus 2 years of follow up appointments etc, not one cent spent, even had a social worker check if I could cover the time off work financially as there was government aid if I could not up to 75% of my weekly salary available, however I had accrued nearly 60 days sick leave and used that instead with the companies blessing.
I had cancer treatment in Canada and didn’t pay anything out of pocket either
How much had she paid in taxes? Just because she's not being charged doesn't mean it's free.
They cost 12,000 in USA maybe, elsewhere they are covered by healthcare ....
They are ridiculously expensive, even when a state has to pay for them. I think that is problematic, even when they are used in a public healthcare system that could spend the money on something more productive than lining the pockets of some medicine company. Even in a public healthcare system, there is a limited budgets they have available to do the most good with. Spending a large portion of the budget on medicin, means that the service has to be reduced somewhere else, and the bill for overpriced medication still ends at the taxpayers. I think there should be a cap on how much companies can charge for life-saving drugs, as making a fortune on other people's misfurtune is just not right; especially when people die due to lack of ability to pay an absurd amount of money that is totally out of alignment with the production cost.
Load More Replies...The US spends on millitry what Europe spends on heathcare. Also goverments may put price limits or list the medicines they will pay for. This of course might also mean that you migh need to buy your medicines from a neigbouring country or relocate (easy between EU countries) in a counry whose system covers a specific drug when yours does not. Happens sometimes for people with rare deceases.

They cost $12k everywhere, but the difference is who actually pays for them.
In Belgium, these cost less than 1000 euro per 30 pills, before government compensation...
That is so unfair. Health care is a basic human right. Every country, let alone developed ones, should provide it for free. In Italy this would cost 0 euros to the patient.
That sounds good and all..but if that were the case this medicine never would have been developed. While I am certain pharma gouges prices, there are tremendous costs involved with creating some treatments..especially for rarer diseases where there won’t be a lot of sales to offset the R and D. While it is nice and we do have subsidized healthcare for those who can’t afford their own health care..we have done well by using employer matched health insurance to offset the high costs of certain medicines. And at the same time we have the most robust, most advanced treatment options in the world. I think public healthcare is a great option for many countries but if you didn’t have the US private sector of medical..you would struggle mightily to obtain drugs for rarer conditions that are too costly to produce, you would lose the cutting edge aspect of medicine that Covid has shown is so necessary. Look at the vaccine programs - who produced the most efficacy..who produced the most doses. US

It is STILL $12,000 worth of medicine unless your human rights demand that some scientists slave for free for you. BTW, I don't see much cutting edge breakthroughs coming pout of Italy. You can thank America for you "human right" to these medicines.
How many hundreds of millions x over has the research and development aka scientists salaries etc paid for itself by now? The problem isn't paying, it's the over the top profit margins by the few in the world for whom no amount of money is ever enough. Gluttony and greed are deadly sins for this very reason, pride comes before the fall for this exact type of reasoning too, think it through.
Gleevec (these tablets) isn't even the best example of this. Virtually all targeted oral therapies coming out these days are priced for what the market will bear - the price the manufacturers charge has ABSOLUTELY NOTHING to do with research, development, manufacturing or distribution costs. They literally charge as much as they can get away with, which means for most new oral cancer drugs, each month's supply costs around $15,000 to $20,000.
I'm on a chemo drug and Biologic for my autoimmune disease. The max i pay a month is e114 but the actual cost of the biologic was €2000 for 2 injections. It is disgraceful price to charge for life saving meds to a point where people simply can't afford to save their own life because of profit margins....xx
Load More Replies...I’m pretty sure all Americans know it. That’s like asking when Russians will wake up and get rid of Putin. Some shít isn’t an option for the public to be blamed for.
Load More Replies...We are awake but when the pharmaceutical companies are paying congressmen millions of dollars a year the laws are written in their favor. Same goes for the food industry.
Your all so Terribly wrong. The reason your public health care is sufficient is because the US medical system and the privatized medicine we have practiced. Yes Canada it’s cheap to get your pills but when it comes to the most advanced procedures, when it comes to drugs for rarer diseases that will have a smaller sales window, for advanced treatment options and cutting edge science..it is the US that leads all nations in R & D as well as manufacturing. If Covid has shown anything it is that we need to remain privatized to have the cutting edge Infrastructure you could never achieve thru public health care.
That is so sad. It should not cost that much to save a life. You’re already fighting for your life so you shouldn’t have to worry about the cost, something needs to change.
The amount of conditioned responses to defend corporate America in this thread are appalling. Pharmaceutical companies get HUGE grants of public money to develop their products. Then, after extracting value from society, they gouge that same society by selling at insanely inflated prices because they know they can get away with it. Some things are difficult to produce, but that’s the exception to the rule of expensive drug pricing in the USA.
yeah...at least in some parts there's free healthcare. i feel so bad because nowadays in certain parts you need to be a millionaire just to stay healthy. it is very wrong.
A friend of mine will have to buy these soon and the monthly amount is 3 times her salary
As a Canadian, I am still blown away whenever I read what Americans go through with basic health care. This is so wrong. Poor then you die. How is that even remotely acceptable in this world.
Robbing seriously ill people is a direct sign that the owner of the company producing them is going straight to hell when they die.
If it works, it's worth it. The only caveat is, where could one find them at a more reasonable price.
As a wealthy American, who could easily pay for those pills if I somehow had cancer, I WOULD RATHER DIE of cancer than waste my money to the evil pharmaceutical companies that jack the prices for nothing more than simply greed.
I doubt that. When push comes shove I doubt you want to die. --------- In addition, almost every one blames Big Pharma, right? It's like blaming Joe Biden for inflation; simple, but wrong. Pharmaceutical R & D doesn't work alone in this, nor do they set guidelines or policy. Even if all you start with is reading labels you'll find out the US isn't the only place doing R & D.
Load More Replies...That’s only 30 doses. A month’s worth if prescribed one per day. The pharmaceutical company charging $12000.00/month for lifesaving meds—-which probably only cost them the tiniest fraction of that amount to produce. Bastards. I hope Karma’s got a real party planned for them.
The meds weren't created out of nowhere by fairies. These meds might have taken decades to develop. Decades of paying the salaries and associated costs of the scientists who developed them and the staff who supported the scientists. The cost isn't the cost of the pills - it's the cost of everything that went into the pills existing at all.
Load More Replies...Still doesn't explain why other countries are able offer low cost healthcare.
Taxes, kiddos. In countries where these drugs are covered by the government they are paid for by taxes. The cost in developing them is exorbitant. They literally do not grow on trees. You want affordable health care for people who can't afford these drugs? Pay higher taxes. Nothing crazy, just a little more all around. But, I guess, just don't put it in your back yard.
Isn't capitalism great 👍😊 only people with money matter. The poor are there to serve the Ritch as they live there fabulous lifes. A whole world of slaves...... just wonderful 😊👍
I take 400mg daily (1 pill) of these for my Systematic Mastocytosis. Years ago when I first started taking it it was $35,000 for 30 days. My insurance company denied it and my Dr. and I had to file appeals. Eventually they agreed to cover it but only at %50. To took my wife and I 3 months to scrape enough money together for a one month trial. It seemed to help and thank GOD that the next month they came out with a $10.00 copay card. Get this, once there was a generic (imatinib mesylate) the insurance company again denied my coverage for the name brand (the one with the $10.00 copay and wanted me to use the generic for $5,000.00 per month. So I had my doctor start writing "dispense as written. " to be able to get the $10.00 version. I won't even try to math for what the U.S. Retail price I would have paid by now for about to last 5-6 years would have been. I do know there is no cure for me and I'll probably have to take it for life.
Thank God I live in Australia. My dose of 12 per day for 6 months was FREE. That was 183 tablets
Yes it is very sick how they charge $400 dollars a pill... It probably costs them $5 bucks to make 30 pills if not less!!!!!
I hope they go to hell for what they put them and their families through. As if they weren’t suffering enough
Thouse pills would be free here in Sweden, it's horrible that you have to pay that much just to survive. Free healthcare is something the US has to consider.
If only. :(. Often it's our polluted air, water, and fake food that gives it to us in the first place.
Load More Replies...But how else will BigPharma execs afford their private jets and hillside mansions?
In Ireland the maximum any family pays for prescription drugs is €150 per month. A family can be one person or 20. Also if you are diagnosed with a life threatening disease or a chronic disease, all prescriptions relating to that diagnosis are capped at €5.00 per month.
I cannot “like” this pic because it’s an abomination to charge so much. I’ve lost too many friends and family to cancer.
They should make a fair living, everyone is entitled to make a living, the problem is they are gouging and gorging on the profits excessively, evidenced by the yaghting and private jetting lifestyles.
Load More Replies...That's what happens when you live in a country that allows medicine / health care to be a for profit business. Sick and wrong. I'm having total hip replacement soon because it's shot and I have to. Even with health insurance, I will have a bill that will likely take me 5-10 years to fully pay off. I wish I lived in a country without such f***ed up priorities.
For that price you would think they would at least give them some better packaging.
In the USA :-( This is bloody criminal! I'm going through breast cancer at the moment, and even going fully Private, I only have an out of pocket to pay of just under $1000 for surgery, radiation- everything!
Even more sick is the fact it can be had for under a 100 bucks delivered by mark cuban. Thevies.
How can humans at a big pharma company even do this without any conscious regrets ?? This is very akin to murder for some…not the least of which is insurance?!?!?! This is SICK and SELFISH to the max!!
Where meds are free…. What’s your income tax, property tax, fuel tax? How long to be seen by provider? In England, don’t many pay for alternative (private) insurance to be seen in a timely manner? It’s always about compromise.
That’s just wrong, people are making money off death. It’s just sickening.
This is something the Govt should but some controls on. AIDS drugs are also extremely expensive. Pharmaceutical companies are despicable.
my ocd is raging at the sideways one...and the fact that they aren't all facing the same way.
In Brazil you could get cancer treatment and medications for R$ 0, because we have public hospitals and clinics that are totally free.
It's a business. They don't give a c**p about us. The rich live the poor die. Nothing is going to change that...
Obviously the USA where the medical system is an outrage in western society
Somebody has to pay for the medication and Healthcare. If not the patient then everyone in the country. Scientists and Researchers need to be paid - they have families & need to eat too. Yes, there are *some* grants, etc., but creating a drug or medication takes years - years - and many more fail in early stages than ever make it through to the finish. Cancer drugs and similar ones called "orphan drugs" are much more expensive than meds used by the general population- not just because less people use them but because of what is IN them. Unfortunately, there are companies that are greedy and make huge profits off the drugs. These are not the norm.
It should be illegal for pharmaceutical companieS to charge outrageous prices like this to cancer patients or diabetics, or anyone.
Shouldn't cost anything for someone's life to be saved bc I can promise you there priceless to there families. And I bet if anyone from the pharma companies got sick with cancer they wouldn't pay those horrible prices. It's a shame. Absolutely disgusts me.
So many people are forced to choose between meds, food, or housing. It really is a shame. I've told my kids no life saving heroics because it would leave them in debt for my medical and funeral expenses since insurance is so expensive. Pretty sad that many folks have resigned themselves to the fact that if you are not rich, you will likely die before getting life saving treatment.
Not having insurance is more expensive but you will get care if you need it. Being a heroic victim won't help anyone.----- Here's a problem in the US - people who can't afford to work because they'll lose public health benefits.
Load More Replies...God sake that is unbelievable. My mother takes handfuls of medication everyday, morning, afternoon and night. I swear I'd hate to think what it would cost us in America. I think we'd be forced into crime 😂. As no way in hell we could afford that. Thank God for free health care in the UK as she gets them all for free.
In my place, the pastor’s sister had cancer. Terrible that it happened.😭😢
THE PERSON BEHIND THE DECISION TO CHARGE THAT AMOUNT SHOULD GET THE TYPE OF CANCER IT'S GOING TO TREAT. F-CKING DISGUSTING. GREEDY S**T BAGS.
My husband has had cancer 3 times and I'm so very glad that he hasn't had to take anything but he's chemo. I feel for anyone that has to go through that or even a family to have to watch their love one go through that and then on top of all the emotions that you have when you are going through it yourself or a family member and have to pay so much money for something that may help you get better. I pray 🙏 for anyone that has been affected by Cancer. I love you and God Bless you all!!! ❤
People, you need to remember that the geniuses that ferret out these cures have huge college loans to pay for all that education they needed to get to figure out it to create these drugs. The trials all have government agencies watching each step they make. The trials take place in buildings which require upkeep, supplies to keep the administrative documentation, equipment to run the labs, safety protocols & equipment, etc. All that takes money, millions of dollars. And that's for the drugs that work....the ones that don't is money down the drain. Be thankful those geniuses have dedicated their lives to finding these cures...... THEY OWE THE WORLD NOTHING.
I've been taking these for a few years. With insurance the copay is around 1000 dollars. Luckily, last year I got a medical assistance grant to pay 0. Now expired. It's an extra stress on top of dealing with uncurable Leukemia. The situation is unsustainable, except for multi billionaires
Only in the United States, too!!! If you were to go to Canada or Mexico, the exact same drug from the same manufacturer would probably only cost $200!!! Americans pay for all of the “Research and Diagnostic” costs for each drug as well as the lobbying fees and FDA fees to get each drug cleared for use by the public worldwide!! We bear the brunt of the cost through our insurance companies!! And you wonder why you pay so much for insurance??? This is why!!!
Thank You Big Pharma and all the congress members who let this happen.
Maybe I am the luckiest American ever, but I had cancer in 2008/2009, with multiple surgeries, chemo by infusion, and radiation. Through the insurance policy available at work, everything was paid for mostly at 100%, once my deductible was met. And I luckily had a private policy just for cancer, that paid me $10000 for each year I had chemo or radiation. This helped pay my bills while I was out of work. I’m only telling this to say, yes I know our”big pharma” issues suck, but thank God not everything about US healthcare is as bad as others perceive it to be. I’m 13+ years cancer free, and got to see my youngest start college in 2021!
Anything meant to save lives is only intended for the well to do.
A f****** hate this world that little bit of f****** s*** right there that can save lives and these f****** f**** ass doctors f****** stuff in their pockets with this s*** I hope each one of them bastards catch that s*** and then we get the dangle that s*** in front of them
Sounds so strange to me because I'd only have to pay 5 bucks for that...
Bastards ! Greed & Averase ! Medical costs should be illegal ! Where are our countries leaders ? Right there with the Pharm. Companies. Sharing the profits. Karma will fix ther bottoms !
I believe this is price gouging. Not to mention epee pens, years ago a friend told me they were 500.00. If my math skills have totaly left me that's 400.00$ a pill.
IF THERE IS A CURE FOR CANCER, WHY THEY KEEP SAYING THAT "TOGETHER WE CAN FIGHT CANCER ONE DAY"? IS IT, BY ANY CHANCE, THAT EVERYTHING REVOLVES AROUND MONEY?
I can’t believe the level of ignorance in this post. First of all, there’s no context to the cost and most people are acting like someone was forced to write a personal check to have access to them. Maybe - just maybe - the $12k is what they cost to manufacture. Or maybe that’s THIS package’s portion of the millions in research dollars it took to develop them. But my question for all of you touting this sh*t should be free - where exactly does free stuff come from?! It seems lost on the vast majority of you that SOMEONE has to pay for it!!
They should at least make them attractive for that price! Aesthetics are an important part of healing too.
That’s evil. People are dying because the companies charge extortionate prices
Pfizer, in America charges $50,000.00/ month for Vindamax. This is needed to "help" a protein malady in the heart. It is not a cure. It helps after two or three years of use. I am grateful for it none the less. Thank you insurance and Medicaid.
My very tight fisted - the kind that won't buy anything without coupons or deals off - uncle got cancer and after all the other treatments were exhausted, they said try this experimental one: $15,000 per shot and you need 3 shots. I was amazed the he said ok, he'd try it. He died not long after anyway. Read 'So Much For That' by Lionel Shriver about the cost and the despair of cancer drugs. Fiction book and really well done.
do these pills give you cancer or stop it?? for $12000 isnt that just going to kill you ?
Not surprising. I take nine pills a month for migraines. Nine pills is all I'm allowed by my insurance. I'd take more if I could. They cost about 400.00 for nine. I can't function without them though. It's like this for almost all medications. They talk about the opioid crisis but opiates were cheap. They were clearly over prescribed and people got hooked on them but another reason was that they cost almost nothing and if they weren't covered, people could afford them. My dying father took pain pills and it only cost him about 100.00 a month for his pain medicines while his chemotherapy was thousands. He died anyway.
What a shame that governments allow this gouging. Even when factoring R&D, etc., big pharma is despicable.
My entire professional world has been caring for oncology patients. Let me share what I have learned from my work. Most nationalized healthcare gets cheaper meds from US pharma because they get it on the backs of US consumers and the higher taxes they pay into social welfare. In the U.S. When you are diagnosed with cancer, everyone starts out on the same protocals for their illness as every other cancer patient of same cancer. Each hospital has a cancer committee that meets about patients and their diagnosis and their illness matches treatment plans based on their type and stage of cancer from the Natl Cancer Board. You exhaust those protocals before you get the very special stuff then onto MD Anderson and clinical trials. If you are retired, poor or rich -- you need will get covered. The middle class is screwed most often. Max out your insurance limits, be the primary insured and get ill, you don't get medicaid automatically. Employers cover that person. Rates go up next year.
Meanwhile 90 pills of oxytocin is 35.00 cash if u dont have insurance. Smdh.
This is blasphemy! Makes one hard-pressed not to wish cancer on whomever prices these drugs.
This would probably be free here in Sweden, it's horrible that you have to pay that much to literally survive..
A perfect example of living in a true democracy - Liberty for All - if you are a gazillionaire...
That's obscene. If I get cancer, i'll die, cause i don't have that kind of money. What's the use of living if you're bankrupt?
My 1st chemo treatment for breast cancer was $127,000. The other 5 were almost $145,000 each. There was 1 medicine I had to take every 3 weeks for an entire year, at a cost of over $6,000 each. Lost my book (no biggie), got my hair back, 3years out things are still "different ". I'm alive and kicking, but I'll be paying the medical bills for years. And we had insurance and got some grants. Cancer is expensive. It it doesn't kill you, the bills just might.
My husband's Hep. C treatment was Harvoni costs $94,500 for a 12-week treatment. Our co-pay was $18,400 with insurance. The American healthcare system is horrid.
I live in the USA but even with insurance from work, I couldn't afford the co-pay for my cancer Rx so had to buy then from Canada which is illegal for us to do.
OMG, surely that is in America where they would rather people die than get life-saving medicines for free?
My MS drug, one 325mg infusion = $121,000.00. Fortunately, it's just 2 doses per year. Unfortunately, a quarter million dollars/year is too expensive to keep it up. (My co-pay is 25%!)
AMERICA, THE LAND OF MILK AND HONEY! SURE,AS LONG AS YOU'RE WHITE AND WEALTHY. IT IS IMMORAL TO PRICE CURES OUT OF REACH OF POOR PEOPLE. NO ONE HAS MORE RIGHT TO LIVE THAN ANY OTHER PERSON. U.S.A DISGUSTS ME!
It's not just poor people that can't afford it. Even people in the upper middle class lose their homes to pay the bills. Some lose everything and still can't afford to keep up with treatment. Diabetics are dying because they ration their insulin.
My 70 year old friend is taking the same tablets at ZERO cost to him. Fortunately he is in the UK. Exploitation of the of the ill is not a UK trait.
This is what Boris Johnson wants to bring to Britain, because he hates our NHS.
Anyone that works for pharmaceutical companies can go straight to hell
I can't believe it. Shouldn't it be at least 50$, or 100? Not thousands of dollars, just for a pack.
This is pure evil. Nothing but pure evil. We have to make a change, NOW!
THIS is the kind of profit the pharma is allowed to make in the U.S.
Makes you wonder where all the money goes that gets raised 🐲
And that's probably wholesale, be triple the price when it gets to the suffering! Thanks BIG PHARMA!!
Life saving medication should be accessible by anyone. It’s a shame that it costs more then the finest caviar.
They won't let you die in dignity, but they make sure you can't live either (at that price!)
I've just done the maths, and if you are living in and are a citizen of the UK, this would cost you around about £0.00
Centralized medicin fox, just look at the benefits in Israel for example. The Covid pandemic era is just a distant memory for us.
Nonsense! Far from being "a distant memory", The Covid19 pandemic era, with all its latest mutations, is still very much in evidence in Israel. However, it is true that, for Israeli citizens, the vaccines are still "free" - well anyway, for now, that is...
Load More Replies...and the gov't wonders why people go bankrupt due to hospital/medical bills...
I doubt it. The government is what allowed it to happen. My son was on some expensive meds then once a generic version came out the price dropped over 75%. The companies are allowed to keep the prices high bcs the people in government get a hefty kick back from the Rx companies.
Load More Replies...total cost to make - maybe $100 (my assumption may be a bit more) - angry needed medication is so marked-up!
Gee, where does all the money come from for Research and Development? Oh, our government? But where does the government get all the money? Oh, taxes? But I don't want to pay higher taxes.
Might be the same oral chemo a friend is taking. $500/per pill and she takes 3 a day.
Unfortunately until we get a better handle on cancer these pills and other drugs will cost a fortune to even just refine. On a plus it is something that hopefully soon becomes a simple treatment at the rate we are defeating cancer.
In England, this costs £9.35. If you're a child, retired or unemployed, it's free.
A friend declined treatment when he learned the pills would cost $12,000(US) EACH.
And to think that it only cost 4 billion dollars to bring to cancer patients.
https://www.forbes.com/sites/matthewherper/2017/10/16/the-cost-of-developing-drugs-is-insane-a-paper-that-argued-otherwise-was-insanely-bad/?sh=19104f9c2d45
Load More Replies...In addition, this article, published in 2017 is way out of date. Prices have soared astronomically because of FDA intrusions into the creation and "testing" of new drugs, which is one reason why insulin is so expensive in the US. It has been reclassified as a biologic and not a generic so ALL insulin must NOW go through re-testing as though it had never been tested before. This caused several makers of low cost insulin to withdraw from the market because they could not afford to go through the testing process, again.
I am sooo glad we live in Scotland! My partners chemotherapy drugs - Ruxolitinib - cost thousands of pounds! We get free prescriptions here in Scotland, thank God!
Yes, and people are not dying left and right because they can't afford a needed rx. I'd say that's worth paying a little extra in taxes.
i had those.... was only €30,- a pill, so € 900,= for this batch.... That's NL healthcare for you....
And i had those for a whole year (€ 10800,= ) and only had to pay my "own risk" of € 384,=...... No that is not a typo.....
$12,000?!?!????? America's price on medicine is ridiculous!!! They just keep getting rich off our backs. Give us the cure we know you have!!
Endgame capitalism. Throw the conscience away and rake in obscene profit. Some people back this sort of behaviour, because they have a subconscious fantasy about joining the ranks of these 'successful' fat cats.
My year to date for 4 months of cancer treatments is equal to purchasing a house.
In canada this would be about $3800...still a crazy amount, and most likely would be given for free at our many cancer clinic, if you did have to pay, in my province it most likely wouldn't exceed $25
Oh My God.. You could buy a house in my place with that sum.. That is crazy
That’s the republicans who want to keep the rich in power so they all get a free ride on the backs of the working class and poor. Stupid people like tRump supporters believe the BS they are fed. It’s so hard to survive in America now. As if the gun nut violence isn’t enough!
Load More Replies...Americans are told that we must bear the burden of the research costs of medications. And why we must pay so much more. Half the politicians are against affordable health care because they claim that would be socialism.

Mine cost about 2.500 € per pack of 21 pills. That's 10 € for my wallet and the rest for my health insurance. However, as opposed to many rumours, healthcare in my country is NOT "free" because we pay monthly contributions to health insurance, the amount depending on the person's income, and these cannot be called cheap.
F**k this world. We give free help to drug addicts, education to prisoners and tons of money to other countries but over charge a sick person.
Please keep educating prisoners and help addicts. Just.. don't war so much in places that's not your own soil. That should save enough to do it all..
Load More Replies...No one said we shouldn’t help them... We should help the sick and our own first.

So? About 3/4 of the people on this planet have mental health issues. You can’t take out your s**t out on innocent people. I’m Canadian, we don’t war on other people’s soil. Good job on assuming.
