WOW, I didn't know that could even happen.

That is a magic trick. Normally there is a rubber band holding the halves together so you can show "2" quarters. When you let go the halves snap back together and Voila! one quarter

Poor little fellow, it it frightened and alone. This type of birds needs at least one other to feel happy and safe. And the cord hangs too low, tailfeathers should not be bend.
