And they know this ... how? Who has been tracking sharks for the last 500 years and can say, "That one over there? He's 432 years old. And that one? He's 371 years old. And that one? He's 209 years old." How do they know? Are they measuring molecular growth rates or something?

"Greenland sharks are now the longest-living vertebrates known on Earth, scientists say. Researchers used radiocarbon dating to determine the ages of 28 of the animals, and estimated that one female was about 400 years old. The team found that the sharks grow at just 1cm a year, and reach sexual maturity at about the age of 150."

Didn't they find a whale carcass with a harpoon from the late/middle 19th century (1800's). Cold, lots of oxygen. The ocean is so amazing.

They actually learned about Greenland sharks quite recently, due to population and depth. They used to be folktales, like the unicorn, before they finally found the evidence they needed.

Of course - after all, the lighter is just an automated version of bit of flint striking steel, which as THE preferred method for lighting fires for thousands of years. The first automated lighter was derived from the wheel-lock musket when the latter appeared around 1500 and was simply a toothed wheel driven by clockwork rotates against bit of flint to create sparks. You could also add a bit of gunpowder as an accelerator. Unfortunately, they were very expensive, so only nobles got to have them until 1823, when Döbereiner "Feuerzeug" tabletop lighter was invented, a hilariously complicated and unsafe mechanism containing zinc and sulphuric acid to make hydrogen which then reacts with a platinum metal sponge to create a flame... Frankly, I'm not sure that one was an improvement...

Something to do with it being a harder material, thus retaining more of its kinetic energy when impacting the ground, while the rubber ball will cushion itself, losing just a little more energy, and not bouncing higher. This is probably b******t, but I don't care.

That's just so sad. I like Taco Bell for a quick fix, but it doesn't even compare to authentic Mexican. Enjoyed even the refried beans at an authentic Mexican restaurant in San Antonio, after having typical Americanized Mexican food on the Riverwalk. I can't stand American refried beans. At the "real" restaurant, they were so good. I can't even imagine eating in Mexico. Mmmmm.

That's just so sad. I like Taco Bell for a quick fix, but it doesn't even compare to authentic Mexican.
