This is a major problem with social media. People say all sorts of hideous things to and about individuals or communities that they wouldn't say in a face to face encounter. Partly because they don't have the courage to say it in a live situation, but I think it's also partly because cyber bullying somehow doesn't feel "real" to them ("It's only words", "It's just my opinion") and they are distanced from the consequences.

I’ve worked in a lot of jobs that entail dealing with people. When someone indicates they’re deaf, or I’ve met them before and know they’re deaf, I have always made sure to lightly touch their arm to get their attention, and to directly face them, not to rush my words, but speak clearly—-not loudly, but clearly so my lips form readable words for them. It’s really not difficult to adjust to someone else’s needs for the few minutes you’re interacting with them, ffs.

I’m tired of explaining to friends and family members that me drinking coffee or having caffeine won’t [end] my baby, or me lifting something heavier than 25pounds won’t kill me or my child.
It’s simply annoying to literally be pregnant, be actively going through an experience with new medication and be getting updated facts, and have people who gave birth for the last time 15+ years ago tell me I’m a bad mother for doing things my doctor has said is perfectly fine.

Once you're pregnant your family starts treating your body as their property, and that your unborn child is theirs and you can't be trusted to make good decisions. They aren't even concerned about you for you. Any concern they have is about the baby inside you. You'll realize this after the baby is out and any care your family once seemingly had of you is gone. They will not ask how you're doing. They will not help you with your recovery needs. They will not speak to you like a grown woman who has a brain. They will not trust your maternal instincts and updated knowledge on parenting. They will not even take into consideration your sleep deprivation and hormones. Won't come around much, won't check in, won't talk to you about other things going on in the world. I had more lectures and being yelled at than anything. Really didn't help PPD. In fact no one gave Postpartum depression a thought at all.

NO! I think it's horrible, but in some states you can be arrested for carrying "the tools of the trade." Someone close to me was once imprisoned for carrying a flashlight, a screwdriver and a wrench near where a house was burglarized. It didn't matter that they had no evidence tying him to the burglary; simply carrying tools useful for committing a burglary was enough... even though they weren't the same tools! (Why is it that the America haters never seem to cite the things in America that are actually f****d up? I know the answer: their news sources are all establishment.)

The truth of this will greatly depend on the laws of your country/area. In the UK, it would most definitely be illegal to walk around carrying an axe, yes, even in the middle of the night, UNLESS there was a good reason for doing so. If you're off to chop wood, you're fine. If you're about to take part in an axe throwing competition, that's okay, but walking around, carrying an axe, nope.

yeah um no actually depending on where you live it most certainly is f*****g not. You have to have a reason. some places you can't even carry a baseball bat without having a ball with you. Anything that can be used as a weapon they treat as a weapon. Look it up. YOU CANNOT JUST CARRY around an axe. you can't even carry a two sided knife in the united states anywhere, so unless you have a reason to have an axe you cannot be carrying it around all willynilly. I couldn't even practice throwing knives in my own yard because someone might decide it's menacing society cause I could be seen. You are wrong whoever wrote this but hey have fun in jail.

Cops searched me for being Irish Catholic. "Why do you have a knife?" While I was wearing work pants, steel toed boots and a hi-vis. Also in my pockets: a measuring tape, a screwdriver, a handful of screws and such, a centrepunch. But what use I had for a knife was baffling to them.

18 years of reinforced "go to college and you'll get a good job" growing up has led to an entire generation of adults who are on average more educated than prior generations when the number of jobs that would actually require those educations have not really increased in any significant numbers. So now more roles that don't actually need the education can still ask for it and get candidates with that education requirement applying because they can't get anything else. Add on the fact that tuition rates have been increasing at a much higher rate than inflation since at least the 80's while Uncle Sam happily foots the up-front costs and you wind up with a generation of people with significant debt making less than their expected income that can't afford to pay it off. Don't forget to add in that public schools don't (or at least didn't about 15 years ago when I graduated) have any mandatory classes to teach about loans in general, student loans, interest, etc so kids signed up for these loans with only a very vague idea of what they were signing up for. And finally, even if Biden's debt forgiveness passes (which I hope it does, as it will definitely help people), it will still do nothing to address the underlying issues and actually solve any problem. It will just put a bandaid over the issue for another year.

My school has a math class that you can take that teaches about budgeting, taxes, loans, etc. Unfortunately, it’s an AP class, and you can only take it senior year IF you’ve already taken four other math classes, which means one year you have to take two instead of one. Edit: Should’ve specified. American public high school

I get that a lot. My daughter is an art student and works with both digital and physical media. If people comment on one of her pieces and I say it was digital art, I can tell some people thinks she "cheated" and it didn't require the same skill as drawing by hand. Newsflash: she IS drawing by hand, just using digital tools.

Here’s one for some people in the US. Planned Parenthood provides reproductive HEALTHCARE, including abortions, but absolutely not only abortions. Many people who go to PP have never had an abortion. Many people go for their annual exams and cancer screenings. It’s a very important organization, whether or not you disagree with *one* thing they do.

That being disabled doesn't mean I'm either lazy or desperate for an opportunity to get to work, it means that I cannot both work and take care of wellbeing because of my illness. I did try, extremely hard, for about 7 years. Then I almost died because I worked too hard for too long.

OCD is not just liking things clean and tidy. It's also not a cute personality quirk. It's a serious and sometimes very debilitating mental health condition. Also people with anxiety can often catastrophise things in their head abd telling them not to worry doesn't work.

Let me add to the list. That GENDER and SEX are not the same thing. Gender refers to someone's pronouns and identity, whilst sex refers to someone's reproductive organs. I'm tired of explaining to dentists that my rapidly degrading dental health is the result of poor genetics and autoimmune disease, and not the result of poor hygiene. Every dentist I've ever seen in my life has blamed me. (I have Sjogren's. Genetically, my family has thin, weak dental enamel. My mom had full dentures before she was 40yo, and my dad wasn't far behind her. I'm 58yo and am just reaching the point of needing implants after 12 years of Sjogren's. Before that, I had great teeth.)

My boyfriend cheated on me with an eye roll and then I got drugged with GHB hidden in tequila which coincidentally there was GhB at the eye rolls house on the daily. I never did anything to those people and they did me dirty when I waa nice to them and brought them like $500 in flooring because the floors were bare plywood.
