If there’s one thing the digital age has taught us, it’s that nothing disappears from the internet. Everyone keeps receipts of past social media activity in some form, a few of which may bite back in the future.

That’s where the Facepalm subreddit comes in. This online group collects screenshots of people’s posts worthy of the spotlight of shame, some from public figures. 8.3 million members keep the page alive with tweets and replies showing how questionably some people’s minds work.

Go ahead and see for yourself. Here’s a compilation of the images that stood out to us. Some may shake your faith in humanity, so proceed with caution.

Who said it's radical to tax the rich in the first place? The question isn't whether they should be taxed- they are - it's at what level and how to make sure there aren't dozens of ways to legally dodge it. The logical place to start (in the US) is for Congress to do an All Hands On Deck search for people to help them rewrite the tax code - people at least as smart as private sector tax lawyers who know how to shelter, exploit loopholes, etc because it's obviously not a fair fight the way it is. Re. concentrated wealth being radical: Who should be anointed as the official arbiter when it comes to deciding how rich is 'too rich'?

@Westy I just want to say that your comment is one of the best I've seen in a very long time. You've done something that most people can't quite manage - and I include myself in that at times - in that you've looked at this purely financial issue as a purely financial issue rather than a political or emotional one, you've considered both sides of the coin equally, and even offered up a practical and realistic idea towards resolving the issue || this reads as if I'm trying to explain to your own comment to you, whereas what I meant to do was explain why I thought it was so good. Sloppy communication on my part I'm afraid.

Those people only meet that metric because of the value of STOCK that they own. Stocks are NOT money, and they are not taxed, FOR ANYONE until the point of sale. For those who have those with 10's or 100's of billions in stock, those people are either sitting on boards, or executives of the companies from which that wealth is derived, and thus need both approval from the board, AND the FTC before they can sell off any significant portion of their stock. Why? Well because stocks are a volatile asset....selling off huge chunks of stock on a whim, could cause a panic, in which everyone else with stock in the company decides to dump their shares as well, causing the value of the company to crater, thereby threatening not only the health of the company, but the livelihood of the tens of thousands to millions of people of people employed by that company. Musk paid $11 billion in taxes a couple years ago, because he actually sold stock.

So you agree that someone with less money than you should be given executive control over your finances, right? That a random person can drain your bank account, give your life savings way to any charity they please, take the money you had put aside so your wife and kids will be provided for if the back wheel of your motorbike finds a drain cover and give it to the "save this city's rats and pigeons" fund if he likes, correct?

Here’s why taxing the rich more doesn’t make sense: The wealthiest people in America already contribute 97% of all taxes. Even though they still have more money than they need, taxing them more could cause problems. If taxes get any higher, it might discourage them from working, investing, or staying in America. Many could move their wealth or businesses elsewhere, which would hurt our economy. This would leave the rest of us struggling even more than we are now, with fewer jobs and less economic growth. That's why Trump is offering a tax cut to corporations if they bring back production in the US. Disagree on politics if you want, but this will in fact put more money in your pockets than what Biden and Harris have done.

I'm sure this is absolutely mind boggling for you because God forbid something isn't solely Biden's fault, but not every one of these 16 individuals are American. People need to understand that the US doesn't make up the entire freaking world.

How you’re perceived online carries the same weight as your reputation in real life. If anything, the former is a highly valuable currency in the current age of technology.

According to the Pew Research Center, 91% of people tend to believe what they gather from search engine results. The Edelman Trust Barometer also found that 65% of people believe these results more than any other source.

Enter online reputation management. As the name suggests, it’s the process of monitoring and influencing the narrative of how people see your brand. Your goal is to find the balance between positive and negative feedback.

Online reputation management is necessary for companies as it can impact a person’s buying decisions. Recent surveys found that 60% of consumers would avoid purchasing from a brand that may appear “untrustworthy.”

Proactive participation is one way to achieve a stellar online reputation. As digital marketing expert Tripp Donnelly wrote in an article for Forbes, lurking on social media platforms is no longer a smart move.

“Participation means more than just having a profile,” Donnelly stated, adding that analyzing online interactions can also help understand the audience for more effective communication.

Many make the mistake of prioritizing self-promotion whenever they are online. It makes them seem unnatural, which can turn off their audience. People gravitate toward a genuine human connection, and excessive self-glorification takes that away.

As Donnelly notes, constant positive engagement leads to more meaningful relationships, albeit digital ones. It can also significantly improve one’s presence on social media and search engines.

We’d like to hear your thoughts, dear readers. What do you attribute these head-scratching posts to? Are people just that misinformed? Let us know in the comment boxes below!
