16 Times People Overdid Halloween Decorations And Got The Cops Called On Them
The Halloween tradition originated with the ancient Celtic festival of Samhain, when people used to light bonfires and wear costumes to ward off ghosts. So I guess nothing says 'Happy Halloween!' like something that scares you to death and makes you forget the world is celebrating in the first place.
Bored Panda decided to pay tribute to those who go above and beyond to create the right atmosphere for this spooky occasion. Whether it's an extremely gory massacre scene or a subtle, half-buried body bag, these Halloween displays were so next-level, some people thought there actually was something wrong and called the police to investigate. Continue scrolling and enjoy!

When You Go "Too Far" With The Halloween Decorations
Texas resident Steven Novak is one of the people who went all out for Halloween this year. In his yard, one dummy lies with his head pulverized, one lies with a scale where his or her head used to be, and a few more lie in bloodied trash bags fallen off a wheelbarrow. All the while, in the window of the house, a zombie horde attempts to break out.
"I'm most proud of the wheelbarrow tipped over by the street full of Hefty bags, looking like a failed attempt to dispose of the dismembered bodies in the middle of the night," Novak told Dallas Observer. "A kid walked by and asked me what happened to them; I said they ate too many Skittles."
Life-Size Michael Myers House
Novak's decorations have brought the police to his house multiple times. "Neighbors told me cop cars were in front of my house a lot during the day," he explained. "I was only home twice to receive them. They told met hey thought it was cool and that they were only there because they were required to reply to complaints from the sergeant."
"They were in formation at the door and when I opened it they asked me if it was all mine. I asked, 'You mean the blood and the bodies? Yeah, that’s me.'"
"Honestly, though, I think I could’ve used more. [My plans] were way worse on paper. Next year though!"
Now That Is How You Do Halloween Right. This Guy Got The Cops Called On Him Several Times In Dallas
Halloween’s origins date back to the ancient Celts, who lived 2,000 years ago, mostly in the area that is now Ireland, the United Kingdom, and northern France. They celebrated their new year on November 1.
This day marked the end of summer and the harvest and the beginning of the dark, cold winter, a time of year that was often associated with death. Celts believed that on the night before the new year, the boundary between the worlds of the living and the dead got blurred.
In addition to causing trouble and damaging crops, Celts thought that the presence of the otherworldly spirits made it easier for the Celtic priests to predict the future. Considering the Celts were entirely dependent on the volatile natural world, these prophecies must've been really comforting in the face of a long, dark winter.
Woke Up This Morning To 6 Cops, A Fire Truck, And An Ambulance At My Door Because A Passing Car Was Concerned About The One Halloween Decoration I Neglected To Take Down
To commemorate the event, the priests built huge sacred bonfires, where everyone would gather to burn crops and animals as sacrifices to the deities. During the celebration, the Celts wore costumes, typically made of animal heads and skins, and attempted to tell each other's fortunes.
Who knows, Maybe Novak has some Celtic blood? Either way, his display sure looks like a modern version of the old celebration.

Yeah little kids can get really freaked out about that kind of stuff.
Load More Replies...I haven't been a little kid for (mumble mumble) years, but it's still sickening and even more so that they think it's fun or ok or whatever the hell they're thinking.
I'm thirteen and I hate when I go by houses that have this kind of decoration. Halloween should be for smaller kids and if the older ones feel the need to dress up they can, but it shouldn't be for us.
I was lucky that my mom always made a point of showing me how fake all the Halloween stuff at the store was. Initially I was freaked out by most of it since I was still a toddler, but by the time I was like 5 I was immune to Halloween decorations. I really hope more people do this with their children
To be honest it doesn't matter when the world is about as f****d up as that, including their own parents. They already have something to cry about and be scared of. No matter where you go they gonna see stuff like that on TV fake or not. Its 2021 just even walking out side or scrolling on the internet or watching TV is just enough to scare a kid and make them mental, and depressed.
My kid is afraid of lazers and alarms(he got really freaked out by the fire alarm and still mimics the noise two years later). God forbid he saw something like this I would need years of therapy for the kid.
I love bloody stuff, the creepier the better but this would make small children so confused. It’s not worth giving them nightmares...
Uh no most kids would not think that is cool. Small children might have a hard time distinguishing decorations and they might think that they are real corpses. I love creepy stuff but I draw the line when it affects other people, especially children. Being a considerate person doesn't make you a Karen.

In one aspect I agree, I’m a parent. In another way I feel njaeeee, it’s Halloween and everyone have their right to be apart of it. Some just don’t...eeeehhh ... think things through or just don’t give a damn about others. Sure you can talk to your neighbour, but you can’t force them to take their decorations down as the most likely have put a lot of both effort, time and money on it. It’s like saying to your neighbours to tuns of their Christmas light because your kids can’t sleep because of them! The only one you actually can do something about is you. Talk to your kids, explain, take them there - carefully -while explaining and show them the fake, make them fascinated in Special Effects and advanced makeup OR choose to spend your Halloween somewhere else.
Can confirm this is the best way to teach small kids not to be scared of Halloween and anything else spooky. If your poor kid is genuinely terrified on Halloween every year, that's something you should help them with. It's not fair, but it's unrealistic to hope you won't run into things like this trick-o-treating and whatnot, plus the younger they are when they learn it's all fake, the more they can enjoy things like haunted houses
But you don't make every body in the neighborhood watch the same channel.
Fair to be pissed, but this guy has every right to do it in his own yard. It's not his fault that his neighbours have kids.
I don't know about you man, but I believe that humans should have the right to walk out of their homes and not see revoltingly realistic scenes of gore and death whether they're children or not.
What if your closet loved one was murdered? What if you got in a house fire? How would you feel if you saw houses like this and your scarring, horrifying memories that you did your best to bury deep down were brought to the surface? This isn't just about kids, this is about real, living, breathing people of all ages who have been involved against their wishes in this kind of stuff and will never be the same again.
I’d be pissed and I don’t even have small kids. I don’t want to look at that stuff every day.
I would like to say Kelly that it takes time to set things up, so they might look at it for a whole month, not including the time to take it down.
Do you get pissed when people dress up as scary stuff too? For f***s sake it’s Halloween let people have fun with their own lives and their own property. If your kid can’t handle it that sucks it’s not like it’s going to be up all year round. Maybe explain to the kid it’s not real and just fun
Why are you acting like everyone is having a meltdown? Nobody is losing their minds or demanding that this person take down their decorations. People are simply commenting about how they'd feel if they had small children or saying they think it's too much. You came here with a weird overly defensive tirade for whatever reason. Some people don't like these decorations. Why does that piss you off?

As a little kid my first halloween I was almost 1 and my neighbor on a nearby street had very similar Halloween decorations, looked even spookier in the dark. I always trick or treated there since it was so close to my house, as a 4-5 yo the first halloween I remember, I remember being really afraid but the guy who lived in the house was really nice and really liked me. I went to his house trick or treating every halloween ever since that first one when I wasn't even one year old, included. Even when my family moved and his house was about 20 mins away.
Yes I agree. Plus of course you don’t have any idea how this may twist his mind!!!!!
I wouldn't. Because my kids would grown up knowing that this is real and there are sick people out there. Now they know. ;)
What happened to jack - I-lanterns and spider webs and cute witches and cute ghosts?

I am pissed a person who gets pissed at stuff like this is breeding.
oh, no, you are a karean, who hates when others are having fun. i hate kareans so much. i do hope so in the future we become like the purge, guess who im taking out that day of they year. yeah, you
Ummm...no. Halloween is supposed to be scary/fun, not a torture crime scene.
When did Halloween become about torture porn? This is grotesque, and not festive at all.
Um....Halloween has ALWAYS been about dead people. Literally always.
Load More Replies...If you live in an adult neighborhood this is fine, but this is very inappropriate for a neighborhood full of children. It's called "Halloween" not "Show Everyone How Sadistic I Am"
They don't know what is appropriate decorations.
Load More Replies...nothing only some handle gore better than others and some call the “psychopaths” creeps but there not
WHAT'S WITH THE BODIES? Plus, usually it's little kids going Trick-or-Treating, not the adults and the CORRECT audience that should be seeing this...
and just what is the 'correct audience' for this garbage?
Load More Replies...The Purge comes to mind when I saw this...and while it is amazing, I dont really like it either
Yikes don’t have people hanging from trees, there’s too much of that already and it’s more horrifying than any Halloween decor could ever be
its cool but not sure about the last picture though. That looks to me like a kid on that pole
And those who have lost loved ones or are about to lose one don't need this garbage either! My neighbor may be about to lose the 5th family member in the last couple of years.
Halloween is for giving children a break, some fun ,they have enough reality in their life that would scare a person far more than decorations. Leave their little holiday for them , keep your morbid things in places for adults only. please.
I'm surprised about the arguments here! At the first picture I thought that commenters would be going ballistic over the upside-down cross! Shows how little I know about religion... Seemed to me the idea was to make a display as scary as possible, but yeah, this is kind of morbid... I remember a century ago, the big deal was to create a surprise for the trick or treaters, much more fun! My uncle set up a ghost on a cable and pulleys that would fly past when kids walked up, worked great! So did getting dressed as a dummy and sit on the porch ready to move and growl when kids came up. Good fun!
Yes, your uncle did halloween! That is what it's for , children. Keep the dead people in the paid haunted houses for grown ups. Let the children have a squeel and a giggle and candy.
only kareans are complaining, wonder why? on second thought that what you karens do, complain when others are having fun. you hate that
any parent getting bent out of shape about this is missing a golden teaching moment. 'see, this is what happens to kids who don't listen to their parents...'.
I’m 13 when I was Younger I loved horror and I still do just tell your kids it’s not real
although, the only thing i don't like is the upside down cross. That's why to fair!!Like yes some people have there own opion of god but what you just did is a plain up "NO" if you dont know what the upside down cross mean search it up. my family studies abt god and jesus alot and this just made me very upset- again i dont blame you its just for fun..but please stop ;n;
Yeah and when your kids get scared it's YOUR job as a parent to tell them it's not real you know like any person with COMMON SENSE would do and if you don't like it DON'T GO NEAR THE GODDAMN HOUSE IT'S HALLOWEEN IV'E SCARIER S**T IN MY TOILET AND ON TV. but that's just my opinion I don't like the pole one though it look's like a kid and that is kinda messed up.
I'd bring my family to this house every year just for this kind of scare.
knowing the kids in my neighborhood, yes even the small ones, this would be the most popular house on the street. The younger parents might even take their kids there if they asked to go lmao
Everyone gangster until Lucifer pops up and says that’s their a big fan
it being "realistic" to have hanged/impaled people in your front yard is kind of sad...
Hell yeah! I didn't even notice it untill just now XD
Load More Replies...Given us ideas for this Halloween! If you had figured a way to make some of the bodies wrapped in black plastic to wriggle. Not a lot, just once in awhile. Maybe rigged to a motion detector, so when an unsuspecting delivery person or dog walker passes by the body tries to move. To add a bit more macabre by putting a voice box in it so everytime it wiggles, a low moan or raspy, "Help me. Oh god. Please, help me" comes out of the bag! We got an honorable mention last year for our display. 2021 miIght be a good year to amp it up!
errrr I'd be pretty concerned about the state of mind of those neighbours
this is terrifying, what if your neighbors have kids?? this could be very traumatizing!
This is horrible, over the top and would upset a lot of people. Yuck!
It's almost biblical. Downvote if you must but you know The Romans let lions rip a man to shreds for sport & punished anti-followers by hammering them to a cross.
And did it for those heathen adults not for a childrens night out!
I WOULD LIKE TO BE FRIENDS WITH YOU I WANNA KNOW HOW TO DO THIS SO I CAN SCARE MY FRIENDS
Do you have any black friends? They usually get uptight about people hanging.
Load More Replies...ALL humans get so called 'uptight' about hanging human beings. You don't need decorations, just stand there you burnt toast and everybody with half a heart or brain will fear you!
This is just too much. Kids or people driving past would be grossed out.
I had a neighbor steal a pumpkin of mine once because she thought it was too gruesome. A pumpkin. Seriously. There will always be tight lipped prudish women worried about 'what will the children think?' who wish to be the neighborhood decoration nazi. The problem with these scenarios is that they occur in neighborhoods full of a) stupid people who cannot tell reality from fantasy, or b) folks who delight in being judgemental and controlling.
And thiefs who steal peoples pumpkins tell their children not to steel, hypocrite!. Moderation in all things people.
Load More Replies...Oh c'mon now! Children see this on TV/movies/church/the streets. Also, I wouldn't pass out candy and would have an adult party.
NOT ALL children see this on tv, they see it in their hospital room quit trying to group everything in one big pot of untruth.
Okay.... I know this sounds weird because I loved the gory one with the blood-spatter, but this is actually too much for me. I think it's the kid on the spike that does it for me. Shows that a subtle thing can make all the difference between "cool" and "Hell no!"
People who do this sh*t need to be watched very carefully. They are ugly sick.
I would do this for sure. I may be ugly, but I have a sense of humour, and perspective. Nobody cares when someone dresses up as zombie so what's the difference? Stop cherry picking.
Load More Replies...It's a kid on a spike.... most people should have an issue with it.
Load More Replies...Or have an issue with Gavin's racist use of calling people "Karen". Karen [kəˈren] NOUN 1.a member of an indigenous people of eastern Burma (Myanmar) and western Thailand. 2.the language of the Karen, probably Sino-Tibetan. ADJECTIVE 1.relating to the Karen or their language.
"It's AWESOME!!!"--basically every slack-jawed sociopath gamer who doesn't understand that trick or treating is for children and that s**t like this is not fun or festive for them.
I have two little kids living next door to me, and I can imagine how upsetting this would be for them to see. Some people do need to dial it back a notch.

There is a difference between spooky and a horror scene. Little kids also see these things, so I would not make it too scary.
@kubu: I am a US citizen, and I full on agree. sorry about all the downvotes, bud (also don't come after me please)
Load More Replies...@Kubu, with the current situation, we have no sense of humor left over here in the US.
True. I wonder if these are all legal and if the cops can force them to take them down. Some are way too much. Imagine if the neighbors had small kids and they had to see those.
I think they're really cool! And they're just fake decorations; they might spook people the first time but it's honestly good for little kids to learn not to be scared.
Ha, 5 year old me found decapitated heads "cool looking". These weren't too bad. I got mental help btw
Yes and no, why are we not having conversations with our children? Explaining that some things are fake. And if they're too young to understand that conversation, walk the other way and don't take them by the house. It's pretty simple actually. I had a neighbor that would go all out to include taking a chain off a chainsaw and chasing the older kids, I didn't take my kids to that house until I knew they were ready. And if the off chance one of these houses are your next door neighbor, maybe a conversation with them as well? It's not that hard.
It's horrendous that a child might have to see this because of dumb morons who put this crap up.
Even worse, a loved friend with a murdered family member shouldnt have to be shielded when they come to my neighborhood because of crass triggers
TBH, I can agree with this on some level. I was relieved when the bodies hanging at first were upside down, but the last few were hung by the neck and that just triggers me. As someone who's little sister hung themselves at 21, it makes me sick how often I see people being hanged in movies and just everyday content... It is not okay.
if you’re not into this kind of stuff then why click on it? you made the choice to see this and it’s kind of concerning that you scrolled through the whole thing if they make you “sick”
So let's just forget about the kids going trick or treating and launch straight into horror? What happened to the fun ghosties and goblins and things like that?
The entire concept of America s "version" of Halloween is freaky af. For 364 days of the year you tell your kids NOT to accept candy from strangers, especially those in masks! Same as Christmas... Don't talk to strangers! But sit on this perverts knee while we take a photo. Yeah I see why these guy's go over the top on horror, because that's what Halloween is.
Load More Replies...Several over the top folks do not define America's version of Halloween. Blanket statements are not attractive or accurate.
It used to be that the people who handed out candy on Halloween weren't strangers; they were your neighbors. Of course those were the days when everyone knew their neighbors. The tradition has held on, even though the culture has changed.
Pagan characters? What pagan characters? Do you consider Harry Potter or Cinderella "pagan characters"? The children are usually accompanied by their parents, since they're walking around outside after dark, and the parents don't allow them to damage the neighbors' houses. The "trick" part of "trick or treat" was brought over from England with the settlers. And back in the day, grown-ups went out and tipped over people's outhouses for the "trick."
My kids dressed up as a lady bug and a ballerina... And no one threatens people's houses. Where did you hear that crap?
Kids in my neighborhood throw eggs at houses (I hate it) tho they are the ones that are always in trouble at school
For the same reason you can't urinate in the street, or walk around the neighbourhood naked. Because you live in a community and members of a community have a responsibility to uphold community values and not outrage public decency. What you do inside your own house is up to you but when it's visible to others it's a public display as it affects other people. I don't know about the US but there are public decency laws in the UK and I'm fairly certain most of these displays would be considered illegal.
One day a year? ONE DAY FOR CHILDREN TO HAVE FUN? Grown ups can go out every day or night so come on give the kids ONE day!
Yeah, genius, there’s a difference between a little kid wearing a sheet to be a ghost and someone constructing a realistic murder scene with multiple corpses or hanging three people who appear to be black.
I don’t think it’s very normal for all these people to have such gruesome murder fantasies. There is nothing funny or creative about this.
"Kicks" are meant to be enjoyed in private, not put out for the whole neighbourhood to have to see. Halloween is not about torture porn, and it never was. People know what Halloween is about, and this is not it.
I was under the impression that Halloween was meant to be funny and a bit creepy for the children. It seems like somehow it's turned into a "Who can come up with the most gory and shocking decorations" contest.
No, first of all, it was a pagan holiday called Samhain and Christians decided to twist it so they could have more control. Most people don't even know what the true meaning of Halloween is, either that or they think it's a myth. And second of all, people will have their own decorations and you have no right to judge them for it. They are also not trying to have a contest, the whole point of decorations in the first place is to be SCARY. Not accommodate to the people who are too scared or sensitive.
Load More Replies...You are wrong. The whole point of decorations on the outside of your house is to provide entertainment for the neighborhood. If you want to practice your "right" to have your own decorations, you should do it inside. Outdoor decorations aren't meant to deliver as much gore as possible. You can't get away with calling anyone who still has a sense of proportion "too scared or sensitive." What kind of things do you watch on a regular basis, if you are inured to this kind of display?
no, decorations are to show other people what you are interested in, that’s like saying you should wear clothes based on other people’s opinions
It was never part of Samhain to produce a Hollywood massacre or lynch party to scare off anyone at a time when the gates between worlds are open
It is healthy and normal to be disgusted and concerned by dead bodies and gruesome scenes depicting horrific deaths. Forcing your neighbors to look at repulsive and violent scenes every day to show off your sick fantasies is not ok, and never will be.
My husband went full-out without any restraint our first year in our current home. Children ran crying from our yard. He is NEVER allowed to go unsupervised into Halloween yard decorating again. NEVER. Now it's fun, and cool, and *not Eli Roth movie set*! These made even him blink, however, so.... Yeah. TOO FAR.
"Overdid" is an understatement for some of these. They skipped the skeletons and went to outright murder scenes. What's wrong with these people?
there’s nothing wrong with them they just have different tastes than you, it’s ok to disagree with people but why insult them, it’s not going to fix anything
Sometimes I feel sorry for the humanity. This is the case.
I always feel sorry for humanity because we're f*****g stupid, but this is not one of those scenarios
everyone puts filled body bags in the garden as decoration. this is not spooky. this is bizarr. a real murderer could come up with the idea of putting a real corpse in the garden to the fake ones .. just sain' ....
I was just thinking that!!! If they become so common, someone who is really sick in the head could put a real one out like that and everyone would think it was just a decoration.
Load More Replies...Exactly. People actually have done this: https://people.com/crime/murdered-womans-body-hanging-on-fence-was-mistaken-for-halloween-decoration/
If you put a body on your lawn, you’re kinda stupid, dead bodies smell a w f u l, and half the neighborhood would smell decomposition, so they’d almost certainly get caught :P
I responded to some posts the same: NO TOO MUCH!! I might sound salty here (Ok, so be it) but small children passing by, and/or service people being called to check (police or so) ... Do you really want to burden them with your "sense of humo(u)r"?
This is getting dumb. Fun and creative is fine, but gore for the sake of gore I can't support. My 5 yo daughter for the past two Halloweens tells me how much she hates it because all the over the top decorations scare her. She won't even go.up to the decorated houses during trick or treat anymore because of all the assholes who think it's funny to make things pop out at kids. It seems Halloween is becoming less about kids getting a chance to enjoy their childhood and more about dreadful adults who insist making it all about them. I'm tired of it. So are my kids.
I'm surprised that Bored Panda pandered to these sick scenes. Isn't there enough violence these days without glorifying it? Plus, it wasted police and firefighters' time responding to these scenes. There is a fine line between artistic impression and downright nastiness. These scenes stepped way over the line.
These comments restored my respect for people. Those displays were disgusting
There’s a difference between “fun and spooky” and “straight up gore.”
I'm glad my neighborhood was just nice and chill this year. Me and my friend were each in one of those inflatable t rex costumes and we just goofed off! Everyone was passing out candy on disinfected tables in goody bags, including us. When my costume got a hole in it I told the kids "Don't worry! I was only hit by a meteor!" Oh, that was a good night. Halloween shouldn't be scary, it should be fun.
If I ever move somewhere, I would love to have a fun neighborhood like this!
Load More Replies...Its good for the adults but NOT for the kids. If things like this should be displayed then it should be kept for adult private parties only. And to use dummies like kids is totally wrong. What about parents that have just lost a child seeing this.
Imo the hanging ones were not ok period. The others I think were fine, depending on your point of view. Yes, excessive gore is not kid-friendly, but then again it depends on what actually happens for that particular street. Like one example would be I know people who live places that get literally 0 kids every year because they’re out of the way. If those people have halloween parties with their adult friends, and that’s what theyre decorating for, then I say it’s a cool idea that works.
People talking about how we should 'tell our kids not to be scared of this,'.. have you ever spoken to a child?? Second of all, I'm not a young child and this is still too much in my opinion. There's a line between loving halloween and traumatizing people, whether children or adults. This is just gore for the sake of gore. And so many hangings! The number of people who have lost family members and friends to suicide makes me feel sick, and the lynching refrences are disgusting. Third, the 'well it's MY house' argument doesn't work. You shouldn't be allowed to do this for the same reason your not allowed to have sex in front of your house, as a community you have to uphold the virtues of that community. Some, like the fire and the Micheal Myers house, were cool and very creative! Those were in good taste! Others, sadly, were not.
Ghosts, fake skeletons, cliche witches, spiderwebs, yeah. That stuff is all in good fun. Gore, hangings, body bags—-sick and disturbed, that is.
All Hallows Night or Halloween in these modern times has come from verneration of dead ancestors and spirits to outright blatant disrespect like the above ridiculous tableaux. These do NOT represent Halloween. These represent a few people's ideas from stupid movies and misrepresented ideas about what Halloween is. These photos are reprehensible.
I love macabre halloween decorations, but when people, especially little kids get affected by this it's not fun anymore. They should have done it in their backyard so the whole neighborhood wouldn't have to stare at it until it's taken down.
This makes me sad to see that my favourite holiday, Samhain, has come to this.
I agree with all you people saying kids should learn not to be scared but this is not how you do it. Most of these decorations would traumatize a young child, making them paranoid in the end.
It's all fun & games until one of them starts stinking and everyone realizes they're not just decorations anymore. The one with the upside down cross is disturbing but the "crime scene" ones could literally traumatize someone, especially if they've actually seen something like that in real life. What's wrong with people?
One time when I was really little maybe 9,10, years of age me and my mother stop at a house while trick or treating and a man dressed in a Texas Chainsaw Costume started running at me and some other kids with a real chainsaw my mom was so scared she called the cops he was arrested for attempted attack/murder, I will tell you that scared he ever loving Sh*t out of me.
These are just gross and tasteless. Even as a 16 year old who loves Halloween, I think whoever made these needs help or needs to keep their talents in the film industry.
These pictures of bodies hanging from trees all look like lynchings to me.
How do they look like lynchings as opposed to other hangings?
Load More Replies...I actually wish more of us celebrated Halloween in the way it was intended - to remember our ancestors and lost loved ones. I think going to a graveyard to put flowers and candles on the graves and to raise a glass a lovely way to celebrate. I don't have creepy decorations, I just put out photos of grandparents, brother, friends who have passed on, even the pets I've had over the years, I light candles and put lovely autumnal decorations around the pictures and I spend the time to remember them. Historically an extra place for ancestors would be laid at a table on this day too. You can still party and enjoy yourselves, but in celebration of real people and love and not horror films and psychopathy.
What the hell is wrong with these people?! Are we that desensitised now, that people think it's ok to have hanged people in their front yards? Horror, yes. Realistic violence, no.
It's not just kids, I find these too gory and disgusting. I just don't find scenes of murder and suicide funny.
For anyone who says there's nothing wrong with it and it's all about celebrating Halloween, I think the Halloween theme is about communion with the dead and not fear them, not staging disgusting murders or tortures.
I love Halloween, but these decorations have nothing to do with Halloween. These decorations are just a tad too much.
Ok. These guys seriously gotta think of the children who might see this. Yes, these are kinda cool and definitely all very unique, but no wonder the police were called! You think people want their kids seeing something like that? They may be able to keep their kids from watching horror movies and reading things that might be too scary for them, but there's nothing they can do to stop their children from seeing those kinds of decor if you're in their neighborhood. Really, think of others around you, goshdangit.
I thought halloween shoud be about ghost and monsters. Not murder theme halloween.

I mean, don't show hunging up fake kids to actual kids. It's scary as f because it's to close to the reality. The fun thing about Halloween is the "Do Witches really exist? Are real ghosts in here?" not some serial killer thing. It's the Hollows eve, not the assassins one.
This is not just spooky, this is gross. I thought Halloween was more about spirits and about the dead as in souls. Not corpses and gore.
Some of these are too f****d up and would traumatise young children when they go trick or treating. Personally if my neighbor does this I would take down their decor at night. Screw their messed up minds and horrible taste.

The Halloween displays are kind of gross. I applaud the designer's effort. I would also avoid any home 'decorated' in such a manner.

I never liked this strange USA Halloween. it's a pegan ritual where nobody at the origin wore costumes. Turnips had a hole in them filled with oil and lit up, the were then put around the village to ward off the evils spirits. It was a pagan practice.

To each his own but too goory for me. I'd rather see this sort of thing in adult haunted houses or trails rather than in people's yard. There's a time and a place for everything
I LOVE horror movies. I love scary stuff. I always have and always will. But I'm also a mother and some of these are a little too realistic for my taste. In the back yard or in a neighborhood where you don't have any kids (like a cul de sac where you know your neighbors)? Go for it! Be creepy AF, recreate horror movies. But when there are kids around, putting the realistic murder-themed stuff in the front yard is in poor taste at best. Yes it's your house but there also needs to be compassion/understanding for your neighbors, esp the young ones.

Apparently lives lost to lynching are somehow more precious than those lost to other purges.
some go too far cause there are children and they have not seen horror-movies yet - most people have no idea about the impact onto childrens psyche
Yeahhh...... the lynching ones are the worst, like you’re doing this with complete ignorance that there’s part of the population who could be seriously triggered by that, as it was a reality in America.
I just don't understand the need to show off this stuff in public. At any age.
I mean, yeah, I get the concept of 'it's my yard and I do what I want' but these people are being very inconsiderate.
Where I live there is an entire block where everyone decorates like that. Each year it gets better (worse) depending on your perspective. Each neighbor tries to out-do everybody else's display. People come from all over the area, and bring their children, to see this exhibition. Major point; this is all done for charity.
Pitiful show of the mentality of too many Americans right now. Not big, not clever, just as fooked up as their crazy baby megalomaniac, narcissistic, racist, corrupt Trump. Trump - now that is real life horror!
It's scary and makes sense to me. All the lame unscary costumes people make are trash.
That’s not a good way to get people to come to ur house with their kids to trick or treat their taking it a little to far
I laughed...at first. Then I realised there's a reason why the US has such a high murder rate..
Oh my gods guys how can you not like these they were smurfing amazing--
I liked them just for Halloween, kinda like real zombies in your neighborhood. But some of them reminded me of the riots we had, people said the left was behind the riots... but we all know the right had a big hand in all of that.
Can we make my comment the most downvoted one ever? (Apparently, pressing upvote is harder than downvote :/)
Plus, am I the only one who still celebrates Samhain? Like, don't forget Halloween's origins. It was originally intended to be a sort of a yearly ritual to ward off evil spirits, not a my-house-is-way-scarier-than-yours competition with candy crazed kids running everywhere.
yeah. The body bags imo are fine, there isn't actually any blood and if a small kid were to look at it, they might just be confused at what it is.
Samhain and Halloween aren't related. Samhain is a Pagan New Year & Halloween comes from All Hallows Eve.
The celtic people of France and British of Isles began the tradition of Halloween some 2000 years back. As a teacher you should know that desensitizing people (of any age but ESPECIALLY children and teenagers) to bloody crime scenes and hanging bodies, etc, is bad for them mentally, psychologically, and emotionally. It is also bad for them in the future if they ended up thinking, ‘this is normal’, because there is nothing normal about such things. As for the candy part you mentioned, this response proves your students’ understandable but problematic immaturity. Even a teenager who willingly chose to watch csi and other shows would be rightfully not ready mentally and psychologically if said teenager saw such scenes in real life, especially unexpectedly (like going into their friend’s neighborhood and witnessing such scenes).
Load More Replies...children and teenagers should not be desensitized to such horrific and violent scenes. Period.
Scary is one thing, pukin' vile sick and ugly is another. -and in a year in which so many have lost their loved ones... I can't imagine living withthe simdset that created these messes, nor would I want to.
It's too sensitive of black people to be disturbed at fake bodies hanging from trees.
Load More Replies...No, I'm sorry it came off that way, but I was not saying that. Plus if you look at the hanging "people's" hands and, on the one you can see, face. You'll see that they are white. Either way the way people are reacting is going a little too far. I was also mainly referring to the white people, who, let's be honest, tend to be overly sensitive.
If anything ever happened or happens in your life that causes almost unbearable pain makeing fun of it might not help you deaal with it. Just think . Try a little tenderness.
kids can voluntarily watch those movies. they are still at the mercy of their neighbors putting up distasteful decorations
Load More Replies...It's very different seeing it online and in pictures than seeing it in real life. I have seen some very gory photos and have been fine, but I doubt it would be the same seeing a real corpse (or what a small kid might think is a real corpse) in real life.
You need to get a grip if you think fake bodies hanging in trees are okay to black people.
Fake bodies of any color hanging from trees, run over by cars, stuffed into a bag, butchered is NOT fun or funny it is horrible. A time and place ! Let the chilldren have their one night out for fun not for a class on some of the horrible things that happen to people!
And it wouldn’t happen, decomp smells AWFUL, you could have a body out for a week, max, before the neighbors think “what’s that smell” and you get caught.

On 31st October, the last day of summer is celebrated as the festival of Samhain, the lord of dead and is believed that the spirits are let free on this day. The name Halloween is not original. It started with “All Hallow’s Evening”, then it came to be known as “All Hallow’s Even”, then “All Hallow’en” and finally it got the name by which it is now common Halloween.
