16 Times People Overdid Halloween Decorations And Got The Cops Called On Them
The Halloween tradition originated with the ancient Celtic festival of Samhain, when people used to light bonfires and wear costumes to ward off ghosts. So I guess nothing says 'Happy Halloween!' like something that scares you to death and makes you forget the world is celebrating in the first place.
Bored Panda decided to pay tribute to those who go above and beyond to create the right atmosphere for this spooky occasion. Whether it's an extremely gory massacre scene or a subtle, half-buried body bag, these Halloween displays were so next-level, some people thought there actually was something wrong and called the police to investigate. Continue scrolling and enjoy!

When You Go "Too Far" With The Halloween Decorations
Texas resident Steven Novak is one of the people who went all out for Halloween this year. In his yard, one dummy lies with his head pulverized, one lies with a scale where his or her head used to be, and a few more lie in bloodied trash bags fallen off a wheelbarrow. All the while, in the window of the house, a zombie horde attempts to break out.
"I'm most proud of the wheelbarrow tipped over by the street full of Hefty bags, looking like a failed attempt to dispose of the dismembered bodies in the middle of the night," Novak told Dallas Observer. "A kid walked by and asked me what happened to them; I said they ate too many Skittles."
Life-Size Michael Myers House
Novak's decorations have brought the police to his house multiple times. "Neighbors told me cop cars were in front of my house a lot during the day," he explained. "I was only home twice to receive them. They told met hey thought it was cool and that they were only there because they were required to reply to complaints from the sergeant."
"They were in formation at the door and when I opened it they asked me if it was all mine. I asked, 'You mean the blood and the bodies? Yeah, that’s me.'"
"Honestly, though, I think I could’ve used more. [My plans] were way worse on paper. Next year though!"
Now That Is How You Do Halloween Right. This Guy Got The Cops Called On Him Several Times In Dallas
No offence, but I think all of the children trick-or-treating would be traumatised
Ok liiiiisten- I get Halloween is supposed to be scary, but making your house look like an R rated movie when there are children who go trick-or-treating and driving by?? You're going to end up scarring someone and that's not funny.
No. I'd love this to death. And if I die to death, they can use my body too. JKJK. But still. This is good.
Load More Replies...Not really healthy for the neighbor children to have to see this everytime they're outside.
I have some real doll grand girls and never, ever would l want them to see this! When they already have trama in their little lives!
Load More Replies...To be fair, the worse the decoration, the better the candy, I’d bet these people gave out two king sized, in my area, at least it would happen like that...
Load More Replies...I will admit it's looks cool, but it's WAY too graphic for kids. You have to use discretion with stuff like this.
People who act like nothing is too much for a joke, and who don’t think anyone should ever be sensitive. It doesn’t mean they’re necessarily bad people. They’ve probably spent a lot of their lives being bullied into being desensitized, or have hardened into “invulnerability”. Comedians often have this issue (comedy being a defense mechanism, and they sometimes lose grip on the scope of what is and is not funny).
Load More Replies...For what is traditionally a kids holiday in the U.S. this is extremely inappropriate.
I would have loved it as a kid. Maybe not at first, but once I realized it's not real? Amazing!
Load More Replies...Favorite part? The safe flattening the thief's head!! Such creativity deserves praise.
I DO agree with that. They should have a horror installation at a local gallery or something where their artistry and creativity can be displayed without others who may be traumatized being forced to view it. They could even raise money.
Load More Replies...The newspaper story said that even though you can't see it in the pictures, there are zombies in the windows trying to break out.
Zombies 🧟♀️ inside the house is awesome but, the murder outside is disgusting!
Load More Replies...I don’t like that some people are decorating their yards in gory crime scenes,I have always liked the lighter side of Halloween and being scared in a good way
It’s definitely too much. There’s a line, but most people fail to agree on where to draw it. The fact that torture porn, gore porn, and murder porn are common forms of “entertainment” in our society says that many people take it very far. Too far, I think. I also think we manufacture this kind of personality by pushing people to become desensitized and “invulnerable” with our toxic culture of bullying and pressure to perform beyond human tolerances.
Load More Replies...Too much, yes. The color isn’t too bad, if it’s supposed to still be wet but drying. Most TV/movies never get it right either.
Load More Replies...I wonder if this guy is psychopathic .. also what did he use for fake blood? It looks realistic
He might be one of those “nothing is too far or too much for a joke” kind of people, but that’s absolutely no reason to presume he’s a psychopath. Some people become desensitized to horror s**t, and fans of it, but wouldn’t ever hurt other living beings. Don’t judge people on their tasteless humor alone.
Load More Replies...I ALWAYS hate it when you have to clean blood off concrete. It is SO difficult getting all the blood stains off.
Get the fire company to use their hose. That's what they use after a traffic accident.
Load More Replies...You know it's mad when you have people (including me) considering the children. This is just damn... I'd maybe do this in the backyard though
It's really good but I don't think this is great for anyone under 13
Wow, that is drastic!! O.o I admit, I am glad this is not my neighbour.
"Awww, that's a cute inflatable ghost you've got there. Now hold my beer."
This is a great theatrical set up but I fear for the children of his neighborhoods mental health !
this is super creative, but as someone who enjoys macabre halloween decorations, this is a bit far. Kids probably live in that neighborhood.
This is disgusting. Amazing, but disgusting. Wouldn't call the cops but certainly check if they were real.
Cop *knocks on the door*: "Excuse me sir. Could you come to the door please" Guy *opens the door*: "What is it officer?" Cop: "We found your lost kitten. Here you go." Guy *Crying*: "Oh thank you officer! Thank you so much!" Gut *To kitten while gently tickling its belly* "Where have you been Miss Fluffy-Munch?"
Looking at this, all I can think is "Who's going to clean this up after Halloween?"
This is not Halloween, this is more like an " art" from somebody who need to go to a therapy a.s.a.p.
Maybe. Maybe not. A lot of people just don’t understand sensitivity because it’s been beaten out of them and they’ve hardened to such things via a need to feel invulnerable. Plus our media (fiction and non) are full of this s**t in one form or another.
Load More Replies...Yeah! I personally love this type of decoration, it shows true love of Halloween! (Bet they give out king sized candy bars too ;))
Load More Replies...“Lots of people died in gross ways by murder”, is, I think, the story.
Load More Replies...Probably. But that doesn’t necessarily make him a bad person.
Load More Replies...That would be scary for little kids going trick or treating to see a maniacs house with DEAD ppl outside of it! They would never go out on Halloween AGAIN
This is another level of sick, Im not sure the kids will be able to get that out of their impressionable minds
As a fan of horror/ true crime fan: imagine this being a good way to cover up the real bodies.
I’m already thinking of the smell... augh...
Load More Replies...Not appealing, not funny, not creative, has nothing to do with halloween.
For MANY people, Halloween is an excuse to play with gore.
Load More Replies...All the people say "I wouldn't want my kids to see this", maybe you should watch some of the cartoons your little darlings take in. lmao
I am 61 years old and never ever have I seen such a sick scene, you are a total idiot!
Load More Replies...This may be "cool" for the older haloweener, but this is way over the top for little children!!
Can't tell if cool or terrifying. Coolifying? Terricool? I do feel bad for the neighbors and the hassle the guy who did this had to endure. 😐
Looks like this guy lives in a duplex. I wonder if his neighbors and landlord were OK with this? While I admire the creativity, I definitely wouldn't want to have to look at this every day for weeks.
This is utterly ridiculous... No wonder he got the cops called on him.
I don’t understand why these kinds of things have hijacked Halloween. Murder, rape, slasher victims... none of it’s entertaining. It’s disturbing to victims of those crimes to have them made into a joke.
Lots of people want an excuse to dabble with boundary-pushing. Halloween has been made the poster-child of excuses.
Load More Replies...And this is one of the reasons there are so many guns in America. Entertainment is so often focused on violence, blood, and gore that people get convinced they need to defend themselves. Humans are weird.
Americans are especially weird, comparing to other first-world nations. That’s me speaking as an American. The gun issue is particularly f****d up, but our laissez-faire capitalism is probably worse, and it’s actually what drives the strongest push of pro-gun propaganda. There seems to be a collective craving for excuses to kill other humans, and that comes out in our country’s fiction trends as much as in our gun culture. Then there’s the f****d-up Christian anti-sex bullshit that oppresses and bullies the most basic & fundamental human impulse (one which is a great stress-reliever)...
Load More Replies...I would move out of the neighborhood immediately. Who actually enjoys seeing this stuff?
People who don’t think that anything should be off-limits for jokes & fun, as long as no one is actually getting physically harmed. These people often disbelieve in emotional violence, or like to prescribe to others about how sensitive they shouldn’t be.
Load More Replies...This isn’t Halloween playfulness. This is a sad individual who is attention seeking.
Agreed on the first. The second isn’t knowable with the info provided.
Load More Replies...This is too extreme why have ratings on movies if you are allowed to do something like this? This is super disrespectful to the neighbors and children in the area🤢🤢🤮🤮🤢🤢🤮🤮
It’s likely food coloring and corn syrup, so it’s going to wash off fairly well with a hose and water.
Load More Replies...One that has reached the point where he’s no longer hiding anything... like the end of the movie where he finally gets caught... I guess...?
Load More Replies...Well, I'd rather have THIS than a laughing, bouncing, well-lit Santa on a sleigh. So... you get mine, I get these?
Load More Replies...This is WAY too much. Just because you can doesn’t mean you should. I worry about kids seeing this or people with ptsd. It’s just too life like and if you want to go to these extremes, do it in your backyard with a privacy fence.
Wow. I applaud the creativity of this one, but I think it's a bit TOO realistic for the public neighbourhood - where you have very young kids going past! There's a reason crime and horror films have age ratings on for all the gore, but this guy is just sticking it all out on his front lawn... Halloween is meant to be spooky, not downright traumatising!
I have a fear of Halloween decorations, AND a fear of blood so if I saw this I would have a heart attack on the spot.
i would call the cops, not because i think it's real... but.... GROSS.
Wow. Lots of PTA lynch-mob mentality around here. Its like all the whiners on the neighborhood facebook who ended up blocked because they couldnt quit griping about how 4th of july fireworks keep their kids awake at night. Boo hoo. I work night shift. Do you hear me griping about lawn mowers or construction outside my door at noon? No. Let people celebrate the way they want to. Some will appreciate it, some - obviously - will not. If you're that worried about it, shield your kid from the experience... or better yet, show them that there is nothing to fear.
I fricken love it! Ppl are such weenies! It could use some more bodies please! Really Freak them out and use the "Its alive" Babies! ITS NOT AWFUL CLOSE YOUR EYES AND GO IN THE HOUSE WITH LITTLE KEVEN! LOL
I absolutely love how realistic this is but come on guys if he killed a bunch of people he wouldnt put it in his yard
I’ve always loved horror & gore, but even I wouldn’t want my younger niece & nephews to see this. It’s a little TOO gory, to be fair (& I was 4 years old when I watched movies “Blind Fury” & “Gorillas In The Mist”, no joke)... 😅
Dang! You have to wonder how many genuine incidents don't get police called on Halloween because they think they're decorations
This is so cool it looks like it’s going to take forever to clean up though
These are the best Halloween decorations I’ve ever seen good job dude U need to put up a sign that says this is not real to stop The cops from coming all the time
Up until a certain age, kids only think literally. They don't always know the difference between what is real and what isn't...and parents don't always think of explaining.
God forbid there are children in that neighborhood. That's horrific.
Yes, I like making children wade through ankle deep blood to get their candy.
I don't know why but I like the decoration but with all the blood deliver much but I like
I love this, but I can see young kids being too scared of it.... But great thinking!
This is like just amazing to be this committed to Halloween amazing
ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
This is how I imagine doing my house when I have my own house and no kids
the chopped up body in the wheelbarrow crosses a line i think but still - RESPECT
That’s where your line is? Ha ha ha ha it’s funny how different it is for people.
Load More Replies...It’s not scary. It’s gross. It’s not “decoration” either. It’s more like a set piece. Taste varies, certainly...
Load More Replies...The twist is that he actually committed a crime there afterwards but the cops didn’t come. It ended up well for the wolf when the boy cried wolf
This is not funny. It is sick and insensitive and these images are triggers for those of us who have lost loved ones to murder. It is pretty much how my sister's life ended three years ago. SHAME ON YOU BP FOR EVEN PUBLISHING THESE PICTURES!
Sorry for your loss. This is a perfect example of why there are lines to try not to cross... but there are people who think they should be “free” to never ever consider other people’s feelings, and never face consequences for being callous.
Load More Replies...Because they don’t have a sense of taking things too far, or it really goes way beyond the average. A fan of horror movies, likely, and also likely a person who’s been acculturated into the “everything can be funny” and “I’m not sensitive” trend in human culture. We don’t all agree on the line, but a lot of us can agree that this display isn’t a tasteful one for mixed audiences.
Load More Replies...oh my goddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddd help me
oh gosh diddly looks like the people inside of john wayne gacy's basement tried to escape
Yah a bit overkill. Even for me and I scare kids for a living... okay not really (Please don’t sue me)
To be fair, this is impressive, but I think this might be going too far.
I bet they had a LOT of fun doing this!! Collecting all the pieces must have been an adventure in itself!!
This is giving me chills! And i've seen SO MANY scary things, and I wasn't even scared! So this place is INCREDIBLY creepy! I like it!
Every one gangsta until the bodies pop out of the coffin, gasping for breath
Repulsive. As sick as that abhorrently violence-glorifying country.
Not all of us go this way. There’s a TON of pressure to be “invulnerable” and “not sensitive”, which turns into being callous and insensitive. The culture is sick, but not all the people are willingly part of the problem.
Load More Replies...The guy probably was a horror fan in his early years, and presumes every kid can be, that it’s harmless fun, and that everyone should be “less sensitive”. He’s probably projecting, and that itself is problematic.
Load More Replies...I love it! Just a suggestion, dirty up the bricks on the house a little more
I thought this was way cool! Halloween is an awesome holiday to celebrate ... especially this year!
Maybe because my birthday is on Halloween, but I find this FANTASTIC! Whew!!!
This is the kind of house that wouldn't get trick-or-treaters anyway.
Obviously doesn’t have the same boundaries on entertainment. Nothing else is certain.
Load More Replies...This is just disturbing. One has to wonder if he has corpses buried in his crawl space like John Wayne Gacy.
This is just disgusting. You have to wonder what goes on in some people's minds. Does he have corpses buried in his crawl space like John Wayne Gacy?
honestly? respect for you, bro! you went all out. (I would never be ale to put this much effort into decorations)
who would want to trick-or-treat in such a gore place? teenagers... lol
Honestly, if I was the police, I‘d tell him to put that stuff away. I‘m sure officers have better things to do than to drive there every other day for nothing.
You aren’t the benchmark by which all people should be expected to be measured.
Load More Replies...lol, love it. I'm amazed tho @ the apparent Karens that forget the season and call the cops.....
I'm amazed that you're so racist as to call people "Karens". Karen [kəˈren] NOUN 1.a member of an indigenous people of eastern Burma (Myanmar) and western Thailand. 2.the language of the Karen, probably Sino-Tibetan. ADJECTIVE 1.relating to the Karen or their language.
Load More Replies...Yes because mass murder is displayed on the lawn in real life. Or was it because people were offended and have a giant stick up their karen ass.
Knock it off with that racist 'Karen" crap. You aren't funny.
Load More Replies...Thx guys if you guys are thinking I didn’t post this you are right my dad posted this.
RACIST! Karen [kəˈren] NOUN 1.a member of an indigenous people of eastern Burma (Myanmar) and western Thailand. 2.the language of the Karen, probably Sino-Tibetan. ADJECTIVE 1.relating to the Karen or their language.
Load More Replies...omg i love it im so going to do this but my future husband doesn't like scary so he'll probably be scared to go outside
This is the best thing I've ever seen and I can't wait until next year bwahahahaha
Halloween’s origins date back to the ancient Celts, who lived 2,000 years ago, mostly in the area that is now Ireland, the United Kingdom, and northern France. They celebrated their new year on November 1.
This day marked the end of summer and the harvest and the beginning of the dark, cold winter, a time of year that was often associated with death. Celts believed that on the night before the new year, the boundary between the worlds of the living and the dead got blurred.
In addition to causing trouble and damaging crops, Celts thought that the presence of the otherworldly spirits made it easier for the Celtic priests to predict the future. Considering the Celts were entirely dependent on the volatile natural world, these prophecies must've been really comforting in the face of a long, dark winter.
Woke Up This Morning To 6 Cops, A Fire Truck, And An Ambulance At My Door Because A Passing Car Was Concerned About The One Halloween Decoration I Neglected To Take Down
To commemorate the event, the priests built huge sacred bonfires, where everyone would gather to burn crops and animals as sacrifices to the deities. During the celebration, the Celts wore costumes, typically made of animal heads and skins, and attempted to tell each other's fortunes.
Who knows, Maybe Novak has some Celtic blood? Either way, his display sure looks like a modern version of the old celebration.

There is a difference between spooky and a horror scene. Little kids also see these things, so I would not make it too scary.
@kubu: I am a US citizen, and I full on agree. sorry about all the downvotes, bud (also don't come after me please)
Load More Replies...So let's just forget about the kids going trick or treating and launch straight into horror? What happened to the fun ghosties and goblins and things like that?
The entire concept of America s "version" of Halloween is freaky af. For 364 days of the year you tell your kids NOT to accept candy from strangers, especially those in masks! Same as Christmas... Don't talk to strangers! But sit on this perverts knee while we take a photo. Yeah I see why these guy's go over the top on horror, because that's what Halloween is.
Load More Replies...I don’t think it’s very normal for all these people to have such gruesome murder fantasies. There is nothing funny or creative about this.
I was under the impression that Halloween was meant to be funny and a bit creepy for the children. It seems like somehow it's turned into a "Who can come up with the most gory and shocking decorations" contest.
No, first of all, it was a pagan holiday called Samhain and Christians decided to twist it so they could have more control. Most people don't even know what the true meaning of Halloween is, either that or they think it's a myth. And second of all, people will have their own decorations and you have no right to judge them for it. They are also not trying to have a contest, the whole point of decorations in the first place is to be SCARY. Not accommodate to the people who are too scared or sensitive.
Load More Replies...My husband went full-out without any restraint our first year in our current home. Children ran crying from our yard. He is NEVER allowed to go unsupervised into Halloween yard decorating again. NEVER. Now it's fun, and cool, and *not Eli Roth movie set*! These made even him blink, however, so.... Yeah. TOO FAR.
"Overdid" is an understatement for some of these. They skipped the skeletons and went to outright murder scenes. What's wrong with these people?
there’s nothing wrong with them they just have different tastes than you, it’s ok to disagree with people but why insult them, it’s not going to fix anything
Load More Replies...Sometimes I feel sorry for the humanity. This is the case.
I always feel sorry for humanity because we're f*****g stupid, but this is not one of those scenarios
Load More Replies...everyone puts filled body bags in the garden as decoration. this is not spooky. this is bizarr. a real murderer could come up with the idea of putting a real corpse in the garden to the fake ones .. just sain' ....
I was just thinking that!!! If they become so common, someone who is really sick in the head could put a real one out like that and everyone would think it was just a decoration.
Load More Replies...I responded to some posts the same: NO TOO MUCH!! I might sound salty here (Ok, so be it) but small children passing by, and/or service people being called to check (police or so) ... Do you really want to burden them with your "sense of humo(u)r"?
This is getting dumb. Fun and creative is fine, but gore for the sake of gore I can't support. My 5 yo daughter for the past two Halloweens tells me how much she hates it because all the over the top decorations scare her. She won't even go.up to the decorated houses during trick or treat anymore because of all the assholes who think it's funny to make things pop out at kids. It seems Halloween is becoming less about kids getting a chance to enjoy their childhood and more about dreadful adults who insist making it all about them. I'm tired of it. So are my kids.
I'm surprised that Bored Panda pandered to these sick scenes. Isn't there enough violence these days without glorifying it? Plus, it wasted police and firefighters' time responding to these scenes. There is a fine line between artistic impression and downright nastiness. These scenes stepped way over the line.
These comments restored my respect for people. Those displays were disgusting
There’s a difference between “fun and spooky” and “straight up gore.”
I'm glad my neighborhood was just nice and chill this year. Me and my friend were each in one of those inflatable t rex costumes and we just goofed off! Everyone was passing out candy on disinfected tables in goody bags, including us. When my costume got a hole in it I told the kids "Don't worry! I was only hit by a meteor!" Oh, that was a good night. Halloween shouldn't be scary, it should be fun.
If I ever move somewhere, I would love to have a fun neighborhood like this!
Load More Replies...Its good for the adults but NOT for the kids. If things like this should be displayed then it should be kept for adult private parties only. And to use dummies like kids is totally wrong. What about parents that have just lost a child seeing this.
Imo the hanging ones were not ok period. The others I think were fine, depending on your point of view. Yes, excessive gore is not kid-friendly, but then again it depends on what actually happens for that particular street. Like one example would be I know people who live places that get literally 0 kids every year because they’re out of the way. If those people have halloween parties with their adult friends, and that’s what theyre decorating for, then I say it’s a cool idea that works.
People talking about how we should 'tell our kids not to be scared of this,'.. have you ever spoken to a child?? Second of all, I'm not a young child and this is still too much in my opinion. There's a line between loving halloween and traumatizing people, whether children or adults. This is just gore for the sake of gore. And so many hangings! The number of people who have lost family members and friends to suicide makes me feel sick, and the lynching refrences are disgusting. Third, the 'well it's MY house' argument doesn't work. You shouldn't be allowed to do this for the same reason your not allowed to have sex in front of your house, as a community you have to uphold the virtues of that community. Some, like the fire and the Micheal Myers house, were cool and very creative! Those were in good taste! Others, sadly, were not.
Ghosts, fake skeletons, cliche witches, spiderwebs, yeah. That stuff is all in good fun. Gore, hangings, body bags—-sick and disturbed, that is.
All Hallows Night or Halloween in these modern times has come from verneration of dead ancestors and spirits to outright blatant disrespect like the above ridiculous tableaux. These do NOT represent Halloween. These represent a few people's ideas from stupid movies and misrepresented ideas about what Halloween is. These photos are reprehensible.
I love macabre halloween decorations, but when people, especially little kids get affected by this it's not fun anymore. They should have done it in their backyard so the whole neighborhood wouldn't have to stare at it until it's taken down.
This makes me sad to see that my favourite holiday, Samhain, has come to this.
I agree with all you people saying kids should learn not to be scared but this is not how you do it. Most of these decorations would traumatize a young child, making them paranoid in the end.
It's all fun & games until one of them starts stinking and everyone realizes they're not just decorations anymore. The one with the upside down cross is disturbing but the "crime scene" ones could literally traumatize someone, especially if they've actually seen something like that in real life. What's wrong with people?
One time when I was really little maybe 9,10, years of age me and my mother stop at a house while trick or treating and a man dressed in a Texas Chainsaw Costume started running at me and some other kids with a real chainsaw my mom was so scared she called the cops he was arrested for attempted attack/murder, I will tell you that scared he ever loving Sh*t out of me.
These are just gross and tasteless. Even as a 16 year old who loves Halloween, I think whoever made these needs help or needs to keep their talents in the film industry.
Def agree. Halloween is about spooky fun and for some people about respecting the dead. Plus, kids seeing this would be frickin terrified! Especially if they have seen these things and they weren’t just decorations.
Load More Replies...These pictures of bodies hanging from trees all look like lynchings to me.
How do they look like lynchings as opposed to other hangings?
Load More Replies...I actually wish more of us celebrated Halloween in the way it was intended - to remember our ancestors and lost loved ones. I think going to a graveyard to put flowers and candles on the graves and to raise a glass a lovely way to celebrate. I don't have creepy decorations, I just put out photos of grandparents, brother, friends who have passed on, even the pets I've had over the years, I light candles and put lovely autumnal decorations around the pictures and I spend the time to remember them. Historically an extra place for ancestors would be laid at a table on this day too. You can still party and enjoy yourselves, but in celebration of real people and love and not horror films and psychopathy.
What the hell is wrong with these people?! Are we that desensitised now, that people think it's ok to have hanged people in their front yards? Horror, yes. Realistic violence, no.
It's not just kids, I find these too gory and disgusting. I just don't find scenes of murder and suicide funny.
For anyone who says there's nothing wrong with it and it's all about celebrating Halloween, I think the Halloween theme is about communion with the dead and not fear them, not staging disgusting murders or tortures.
The original Halloween (Samhaon) involved building a huge bonfire and sacrificing people by tying them up and tossing them in... Their screams satisfying the appetites of evil spirits.
Load More Replies...I love Halloween, but these decorations have nothing to do with Halloween. These decorations are just a tad too much.
Ok. These guys seriously gotta think of the children who might see this. Yes, these are kinda cool and definitely all very unique, but no wonder the police were called! You think people want their kids seeing something like that? They may be able to keep their kids from watching horror movies and reading things that might be too scary for them, but there's nothing they can do to stop their children from seeing those kinds of decor if you're in their neighborhood. Really, think of others around you, goshdangit.
I thought halloween shoud be about ghost and monsters. Not murder theme halloween.
I think stuff like this is over the top. Well done but not fun or funny. Also, if we get used to seeing this sort of thing, we become immune to it. What happens when it’s the real thing and the fire department or police stop responding. Having those people respond to a non event is expensive, taxpayers!
I mean, don't show hunging up fake kids to actual kids. It's scary as f because it's to close to the reality. The fun thing about Halloween is the "Do Witches really exist? Are real ghosts in here?" not some serial killer thing. It's the Hollows eve, not the assassins one.
This is not just spooky, this is gross. I thought Halloween was more about spirits and about the dead as in souls. Not corpses and gore.
Some of these are too f****d up and would traumatise young children when they go trick or treating. Personally if my neighbor does this I would take down their decor at night. Screw their messed up minds and horrible taste.
Halloween must be the perfect time to get rid of a corpse - just toss it in the garbage on Nov 1st and nobody will suspect a thing...
These are all so awful, I’m really unhappy that I clicked on this post, just ewww
I wonder if this year took on an even more macabre and detailed note due to the extra time provided by the lockdown?
I know im not being original but it's actually really messed up to do this in plain view of children, not to mention how triggering it might be for people who have witnessed such actual horrors. But congratulations, you won Halloween, I guess?
How stupid are some people? (Its rhetorical but very if you want to answer). Young children will have nightmares for ages seeing some of these sights. Try not to make it too gory and put happy Halloween up so people know its a prank. That said after cops been and you shown it to be fake good way to get rid of your enemies.
No. Not funny, not in the Halloween mode. These look too real! It’s a public street not a horror movie.
Alright but just imagine if someone had an actual dead body in a body bag around a bunch of other innocent Halloween decorations, if people would think that it was just a decoration too...
this is over the line gross. I hope the people who had gotten called on learned their lesson and don't put as much up next year
The Halloween displays are kind of gross. I applaud the designer's effort. I would also avoid any home 'decorated' in such a manner.
Kind of scary that so many people know how to wrap up a body lol
okay, how many children were these people trying to attract? my answer is ZERO. nobody wants to see a house that looks like it belongs to a person who murders people for Halloween decorations on purpose
how the heck could i know that the people that made those decorations that looks like a haunted house bro WHY
This is just wrong the article was great but these people there is something seriously wrong with them they have to understand that people get emotional scars with this and kids see bro have some ding-dang sense. These 16 people are horrid
People who just have body bags and no jack o lanterns I feel like it seems less halloweeny
I never liked this strange USA Halloween. it's a pegan ritual where nobody at the origin wore costumes. Turnips had a hole in them filled with oil and lit up, the were then put around the village to ward off the evils spirits. It was a pagan practice.
The celtic people of France and British of Isles began the tradition of Halloween some 2000 years back. On 31st October, the last day of summer is celebrated as the festival of Samhain, the lord of dead and is believed that the spirits are let free on this day. The name Halloween is not original. It started with “All Hallow’s Evening”, then it came to be known as “All Hallow’s Even”, then “All Hallow’en” and finally it got the name by which it is now common Halloween.

Halloween is especially fun for kids. This is not. Halloween is about the spirits of those past, not the bodies left by killers. Very disturbing.
Why would people call the cops, its not like a serial killer is gonna hang up their body bags in the yard!!!!
gore and body bags have nothing to do with Halloween. This is just self indulgence
honestly i like the decor but to scary for children maybe they should tone it down a bit
To each his own but too goory for me. I'd rather see this sort of thing in adult haunted houses or trails rather than in people's yard. There's a time and a place for everything
I LOVE horror movies. I love scary stuff. I always have and always will. But I'm also a mother and some of these are a little too realistic for my taste. In the back yard or in a neighborhood where you don't have any kids (like a cul de sac where you know your neighbors)? Go for it! Be creepy AF, recreate horror movies. But when there are kids around, putting the realistic murder-themed stuff in the front yard is in poor taste at best. Yes it's your house but there also needs to be compassion/understanding for your neighbors, esp the young ones.
People got to stop getting so offended over some Halloween decorations think about how long it took to make these I think there pretty cool people got to toughen up

A lot of people are alright with depictions of guillotinings, burnings at the stake, chopping block beheadings, rack stretchings, pendulums, electric chairs, and other means of execution but when it comes to hanging, people get their panties in a bunch and assume it's a lynching. Apparently lives lost to lynching are somehow more precious than those lost to other purges.
some go too far cause there are children and they have not seen horror-movies yet - most people have no idea about the impact onto childrens psyche
Yeahhh...... the lynching ones are the worst, like you’re doing this with complete ignorance that there’s part of the population who could be seriously triggered by that, as it was a reality in America.
I just don't understand the need to show off this stuff in public. At any age.
What if your closet loved one was murdered? What if you got in a house fire? How would you feel if you saw houses like this and your scarring, horrifying memories that you did your best to bury deep down were brought to the surface? This isn't just about kids, this is about real, living, breathing people of all ages who have been involved against their wishes in this kind of stuff and will never be the same again. I mean, yeah, I get the concept of 'it's my yard and I do what I want' but these people are being very inconsiderate.
Where I live there is an entire block where everyone decorates like that. Each year it gets better (worse) depending on your perspective. Each neighbor tries to out-do everybody else's display. People come from all over the area, and bring their children, to see this exhibition. Major point; this is all done for charity.
Pitiful show of the mentality of too many Americans right now. Not big, not clever, just as fooked up as their crazy baby megalomaniac, narcissistic, racist, corrupt Trump. Trump - now that is real life horror!
It's scary and makes sense to me. All the lame unscary costumes people make are trash.
That’s not a good way to get people to come to ur house with their kids to trick or treat their taking it a little to far

I liked them just for Halloween, kinda like real zombies in your neighborhood. But some of them reminded me of the riots we had, people said the left was behind the riots... but we all know the right had a big hand in all of that.

yeah. The body bags imo are fine, there isn't actually any blood and if a small kid were to look at it, they might just be confused at what it is.

As a teacher you should know that desensitizing people (of any age but ESPECIALLY children and teenagers) to bloody crime scenes and hanging bodies, etc, is bad for them mentally, psychologically, and emotionally. It is also bad for them in the future if they ended up thinking, ‘this is normal’, because there is nothing normal about such things. As for the candy part you mentioned, this response proves your students’ understandable but problematic immaturity. Even a teenager who willingly chose to watch csi and other shows would be rightfully not ready mentally and psychologically if said teenager saw such scenes in real life, especially unexpectedly (like going into their friend’s neighborhood and witnessing such scenes).

"Overdid" is an understatement for some of these. They skipped the skeletons and went to outright murder scenes. What's wrong with these people?
