It is something that happens when a person deliberately ignores another person’s communications to either avoid them or achieve some sort of goal. Probably most would say that ghosting is typically not an okay thing to do, especially when someone on the other end wants to deliver an important message.
The worst part about ghosting is that the person doing so usually either doesn’t evaluate the significance of the other person’s messaging attempts, or simply doesn’t care enough to bother replying. That can cause real damage or anxiety on the waiting end. Outright avoiding someone via ghosting when there is unfinished business to be settled is not okay, especially if that involves crucial things in life. The whole concept of ghosting is just so unnecessary when you think about it. It is understandable that people nowadays can feel burned out due to constant communication and reply later on, but leaving someone to wait indefinitely when there is business to finish doesn’t seem right. That is why it probably feels pretty great when the person doing the ghosting gets hit with a little bit of karma.

Getting a bill you never expected surely doesn’t feel great, especially when you’re sure you had nothing to do with the it. So naturally you’d call customer support and figure that out. That’s exactly what happened to the woman in this story. She got a bill that shouldn’t have occurred. But it did occur, and started fairly recently—a month before she started her call with customer support.

The customer support agent definitely got themselves a fairly unconventional phone call. Not only was the mysterious bill due to the woman’s ex-husband, he had apparently cheated on her and run away with another woman, whilst still leeching from her assets. The woman was very emotional during the phone call and it is great to see that the customer support agent was indeed supportive through it all.

This is where the story turns to one of karma. The woman had been trying to track down her ex-husband without success and now, basically by chance, she got to know his whereabouts because of a bill the ex had set the woman up with in the first place. So not only did the woman get to get rid of the recurring billing situation, but also got to finally find the ex.

This is one of the reasons why customer support agents should be treated well and with respect—they go about their day helping numerous people without much credit, and sometimes, as in this case, go the extra mile to aid their customers for complete resolution. The woman got everything she needed out of the call, and way more, so the only thing to hope for now is that she manages to bring her husband to justice.

Minutes later I got a fax with ALL there info. Including new employment and addresses. Needless to say they didn’t get the apartment and I know have them with a judgement in their new state.
This is GOOD ... But.. he being on the hook for all of the add-ons plus adding a line, all of it for 3 years.. Making him pay for those 3 years would be GREAT .. But convicting him of fraud in the court system would be.. OUTSTANDING ! ! Like some probable warrants.

Just to clarify for the person in the comments who is claiming this is phishing, It's not. The account belonged to the person (the ex wife) who called in. They verified that account (which is her account) and that means that they have every single bit of access to every single bit of information that is held on that account. The ex husband is the person who technically committed fraud by still having access to the account, taking advantage of the services, then allowing the entire bill to go to the account holder (The ex-wife who called in about her account).

Wow....Groupon needs to take a lesson here. Someone hacked my account some years ago, changed my user name and password (AND GROUPON NEVER NOTIFIED ME!), then they bought $8,000 worth of things on the credit card I had on file with Groupon. And then when I called Groupon to get access to my account back, THEY WOULDN'T LET ME BECAUSE I DIDN'T KNOW THE NEW EMAIL. And when I asked them to at least provide the shipping address, GROUPON REFUSED TO GIVE IT TO ME, SAYING I DIDN'T HAVE A RIGHT TO IT. Ain't that some shït? Even though my credit card company refunded my money, those fücks still got their cheese, and Groupon wouldn't even give the CREDIT CARD COMPANY the info without a warrant. Well, you can't get a warrant without a ton of hassle if you don't have a specific jurisdiction location, etc. because you have to have THAT jurisdiction issue the warrant. So how can you go after someone criminally if you have no idea who they are or even where they are? Groupon is complete shyte.

Because you can't close an account without canceling all services and paying all balance due. And like it said, then she would have to pay cancelation fees and etc. I.e. it would cost her more to cancel and "delete" the account than to just downgrade. Now that she can give her lawyer the ex's address, she can get a court order that says to remove the services from her account, and/or force the ex to pay the cancelation fees. It'll take time to do that though, so in the meantime the cheapest option was to downgrade.

Load More Replies...I work in cybersecurity. It's possible this is phisihing, but the odds of it are extremely low. Someone would have to have all the info to prove they are the account holder, AND know that a secondary person on the account just signed up for service that isn't available in the primary account holder's area. All the info to get to that point (of getting the address where the secondary services are provided) would be more valuable for a phisher than the address, so there would not even be a point in phishing the secondary address. It's way more likely that the story is true, someone noticed something weird on their bill and called to see what's up. It's important to avoid phishing, but you can't refuse to provide service to actual customers for fear of it.
